SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY do not know whether captain Barry Bannan will be able to play in their Championship opener at Leicester on Sunday.
The crisis club are under a number of registration embargoes after players and staff were paid late in May, June and July — and on Wednesday the EFL urged owner Dejphon Chansiri to sell.

Midfielder Bannan, 35, who joined the club in 2015, was out of contract at the end of June.
He signed a new deal on Saturday but might not be available against the Foxes.
New Owls boss Henrik Pedersen said: 'People in the club are trying to find out the situation. Right now I don't know.
'It's a strange situation, I hope we can get clarity very soon so we know more before the training session on Friday.'
Pedersen, 47, stepped up from assistant after German manager Danny Rohl left by mutual consent last month.
He also said he had no indication that any of the 15 senior players left were not intending to play on Sunday.
They cancelled a pre-season friendly against Burnley last weekend.
It is understood full-back Max Lowe handed in his notice last week.

Pedersen praised the the club's staff after a chaotic summer.
The Dane added: 'The last two days' sessions we have had fantastic energy in the group. I have to say I have big, big respect for our players and how they have handled the situation.
'It's difficult, and there are a lot of mornings that they are coming, and there are different energy levels for individuals.
'But how they have handled it as a group and how my staff have supported them...
'We have had a lot of good sessions — it has impressed me.
'It's a tough situation, but the players do a great job.'

Leeds' new No 1 declares himself 'fully fit and ready to go' ahead of Premier League debut as Daniel Farke reveals where Illan Meslier is in pecking order

Lucas Perri is adamant that he is 'fully fit' and ready to go as Leeds United's No 1 in the Premier League. Perri, 27, made his debut on Saturday in Leeds' friendly against Milan in Ireland but played just 45 minutes before Karl Darlow came on for the second half. Leeds signed the goalkeeper from Lyon for £15.6M on July 26 but the Brazilian only started training with his team-mates this week after a minor injury initially kept him out. 'Yeah I'm totally fit,' said Perri. 'I had a minor hamstring problem a few weeks ago so they took a slow approach with my return but now I'm fully fit, 100 per cent and ready to go. 'Defensively we are doing a pretty good job during pre-season and offensively, we are scoring goals. We're ready and we are ready to fight.' During his debut in front of a sell-out crowd in Dublin, Leeds fans got a glimpse of Perri's enormous 50 metre throws and he revealed that it took a show of faith from his goalkeeping coach at Botafogo, Daniel Correia, before he started to use it in matches. 'I've loved to throw since I was young. In training at Botafogo, I used to do it a lot in training but not so much in games and the goalkeeping coach said I should start to do this in games,' said Perri. 'Then I started to recognise the patterns of what works and what doesn't but I've had the far throws since I was a kid.' Perri wore the No 1 shirt - which was previously held by Illan Meslier - in Ireland and Leeds manager Daniel Farke confirmed that Meslier was left behind for the trip as he wasn't needed. Leeds begin their top-flight campaign against Everton next Monday night at Elland Road. 'We decided to play two goalkeepers so it was not necessary for him (Meslier) to travel,' said Farke. 'I wanted to give Lucas Perri the first 45 minutes and Karl (Darlow) is ahead of him (Meslier) in the pecking order.' On giving Perri the No 1 shirt, Farke added: 'It's quite normal. We invested - by our standards - a big sum to bring Lucas in. 'I don't give any guarantees away about who's starting but of course Lucas is likely to play a role for us (against Everton) and for that, we decided to give him the No 1 shirt. 'It's not a decision against Illan. It's also for the confidence of Lucas to make him welcome and show why we signed him.'

Darwin Nunez departs Liverpool after three eventful years

Liverpool have sold striker Darwin Nunez to Saudi Pro-League club Al-Hilal for £46.2m, concluding his three-year tenure at Anfield. Nunez, who joined from Benfica for an initial £64m (potentially rising to £85m), scored 40 goals in 143 appearances for Liverpool, including seven in 47 games last season. The Uruguay international had expressed a desire to leave in January and attracted interest from Napoli and AC Milan, though neither met Liverpool's valuation. Nunez's sale contributes to Liverpool's summer transfer income of approximately £190m from various player departures, including Luis Diaz. Liverpool are now seeking to sign another attacker to bolster their squad, having had a £110m bid for Newcastle 's Alexander Isak rejected, and are hesitant to make a second offer.

Transfer news live: Liverpool dealt Isak blow, Arsenal hunt Eze, Garnacho to Chelsea

A summer transfer window dominated by the chase for centre forwards for many of the Premier League 's top clubs continues with Liverpool still pursuing Alexander Isak - but finding Newcastle resolute in their desire to keep the Swedish striker. Liverpool have sold Darwin Nunez to Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal for £46.3m, which should open up funds to bid again for Isak. Newcastle, however, have been clear that they do not wish to sell, even if Eddie Howe has admitted it is tricky to see a route back for the exiled forward. Manchester United, conversely, have got another major deal done. Benjamin Sesko was unveiled to supporters at Old Trafford a week before the start of the Premier League season and will join Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha in a new-look front three for Ruben Amorim, who has enjoyed a productive first summer transfer window. Arsenal are preparing to bolster their own forward line further by signing Crystal Palace 's Eberechi Eze. Palace want a fee in excess of £60m and an official offer could soon go in. Arsenal have also rejected a swap deal which have seen them sign Real Madrid's Rodrygo and send William Saliba the other way.
