On CM's directive, JDA launches Dravyavati rejuvenation project

Jaipur: Following a directive from Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has once again launched a rejuvenation project for the Dravyavati River. This time, the project focuses on the banks of the entire stretch of the river flowing through Jaipur. The project involves planting exotic trees and restoring walking and jogging tracks. Speaking to TOI, Monali Sen, divisional forest officer (JDA), stated that the project was undertaken following a recent directive from the Chief Minister's Office. "The state govt is committed to further developing the banks of the Dravyavati River with both environmental conservation and aesthetic perspectives," Sen said. Residents had long complained that the banks were neglected by the previous govt, despite real estate prices in the area appreciating since then CM Vasundhara Raje's 'Dravyavati Project', which was inaugurated just before the assembly polls of 2018. "Knowing that the river and its banks would undergo an aesthetic and environmental rejuvenation, I decided to buy a property adjacent to the river at a very high rate in 2018. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo Everything was fine for the first two years. Later, the situation deteriorated. Hopefully, the fresh initiative will bring back life to this project," said Satish Chand Jain, a Pratap Nagar resident. Officials of JDA's horticulture department stated that altogether the civic body would plant 2,593 plants of at least eight species at a cost of Rs 1 crore 9 lakh. "The species include a few costly plants like Sahtoot (Mulberry), Kachnar, Amaltash, and Karanj. A few of them have medicinal values as well," said an official of JDA's horticulture wing.
