Jagan accuses Andhra govt of vendetta politics, governance failure

Amaravati, July 29 (PTI) YSRCP chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday accused the TDP-led government in Andhra Pradesh of engaging in 'vendetta politics", failure in governance and neglecting public welfare. Addressing the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting of YSRCP, the former CM alleged that the state government is fabricating false cases to instill fear among its opponents, instead of focusing on implementing promised welfare schemes. 'Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu failed to implement poll promises and neglected all sections of society and is showing vindictive attitude towards political opponents," said Jagan Mohan Reddy in a release. Referring to the recent arrests of several senior YSRCP leaders, Jagan asserted that this is proof of 'vindictive politics". The YSRCP supremo further alleged that police have become 'collection agents", facilitating mafia-style operations in liquor, sand, rice and gambling, leading to paralysis of public institutions. The former CM also claimed that several key initiatives, including Nadu-Nedu works and Aarogyasri scheme, have been halted. According to Jagan, Naidu spent 52 per cent of YSRCP's five-year borrowings in just 14 months, despite stagnating state revenue and a mere three per cent growth rate. He announced the launch of a YSRCP app for citizens to report harassment, promising accountability and justice and called for strengthening of booth-level structure. 'Speak Tamil, Not Foreign Language Like English': BJP's Nishikant Dubey Slams DMK MPs

In a fiery language face-off in the Lok Sabha, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey stunned the House by rejecting DMK MPs' request to switch from Hindi to English due to a technical glitch in the translator system. Calling English a 'foreign language,' Dubey said he would have appreciated a request to speak in Tamil instead. He accused the DMK of harboring hatred for Hindi and North Indians, pointing out that Tamil Nadu MPs didn't object when a fellow MP spoke in Bengali for 30 minutes. 'Keep promoting English and we'll become England again, slaves,' Dubey warned. His defiant remarks ignited a storm in Parliament and online, exposing the deep fault lines in India's ongoing language politics. Technical glitch in translation device sparks language row in Lok Sabha

A minor technical snag in the Lok Sabha's translation device triggered a language row on Tuesday, as the Opposition demanded BJP lawmaker Nishikant Dubey to deliver his speech in English instead of Hindi. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey speaks in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. (Sansad TV) Dubey, who began his address in Hindi, refused to switch languages despite the broken translator. 'This is Lok Sabha's technical problem, not mine. I only know Hindi, so I'll speak in Hindi,' he said. When asked to switch to English, he hit back, saying, 'It's a foreign language. If you'd asked me to speak in Tamil or Bengali, I would've been glad.' Dilip Saikia, who was in the Chair, informed the House that translation services were being restored, but the Opposition continued pressing for Dubey to switch languages. 'For 30 minutes, someone spoke in Bengali and no one from Tamil Nadu objected. But suddenly there's a problem with Hindi?' Dubey questioned. 'Congress and its allies have a problem with North Indians,' he claimed. He even warned, 'A day will come when the whole country will be enslaved by English.' Notably, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs Sayani Ghosh and Kalyan Banerjee had recently opted to speak in Bengali, an unusual choice, as TMC leaders typically use English or Hindi in the House. Article 120 of the Constitution does allow members to use their mother tongue in Parliament. This appeared to echo internal cracks within the TMC. Earlier this year, veteran MP Saugata Roy publicly criticised Kalyan Banerjee, saying, 'He should be removed as chief whip of the parliamentary party. He's unfit for the post because of his wrong English and intemperate behaviour.'
