'In our culture today, we label anything erotic as pornography.' So says Marina Abramović, whose immersive artwork Balkan Erotic Epic will have its world premiere in Manchester this October. Seventy performers will re-enact ancient and unashamedly sexual rituals such as Women Massaging Breasts, pictured above, at Aviva Studios. Those who squirmed and cringed at her earlier interactive nude works will want to make alternative plans.

A Musical Party in a Courtyard by Pieter de Hooch, 1677
The contrast between the shady courtyard in the foreground, where people chat and play music around a table, and the sunny canal seen through a dark stone gateway, gives this painting a haunting, heart-catching subtlety of mood. But it's even more nuanced and poetic than that: a deep blue sky and bronzed clouds above reveal that we're seeing the last gleam of the day. This explains why the courtyard is already so dark while the buildings across the canal are bright. It also gives a moral unease to the scene. There's flirtation going on: to the sweet sounds of string music, the man and woman at the table laugh over drinks and snacks. His face is positively sinister as he looks at her from shaded eyes. Meanwhile, the man in the doorway is a devilishly dark figure against the light. It will soon be night, and all our sins will be upon us.

Zara McDermott rakes in over £4k a WEEK from TV career as her massive salary is revealed amid Louis Tomlinson romance

ZARA McDermott raked in over £4k a WEEK from her TV career as her massive salary is revealed. Love Island star Zara, 28, who is currently dating Louis Tomlinson, 33, banked £4,438 per week last year at Zara Nicole McDermott Limited, the private firm into which she channels her earnings. Her profits there working out at £230,805 for the year - with the documentary maker sitting on £705,688 in assets and retaining £540,718 after bills. Her assets comprised £523,030 in cash, £161,431 in investments, £14,929 in and tangible assets at £6,298. No turnover is reported in the figures, signed off by Zara on 30th May and filed at Companies House today. Running the year ended 31 August 2024, they report £38,186 increase in the value of her investments with Zara employing two members of staff to help look after her riches. The small print also revealing loans from the business to Zara at £122,798 during the year, with £14,929 outstanding as at year end. It's the best year so far for her at the business, which she set up in 2018. Its nature of business is listed as 'photographic activities not elsewhere classified'. Zara pocketing a £23,661 profit in her first year or trading, £43,796 in 2020, £61,891 in 2021, £13,378 in 2022 and £167,187 last year. Zara Nicole McDermott is one of two active businesses listed for her on Companies House – her other firm, Tiger Mac Properties, was set up last year. Its nature of business is listed as 'buying and selling of own real estate.' In February this year, it reported borrowings from Nottingham Building Society. Secured against a property in South London, suggesting it owns a £500,000 flat in a 1990s block in Wandsworth. Zara has fronted documentaries for the BBC including Revenge Porn, Uncovering Rape Culture, Love in the Flesh and Disordered Eating. Zara recently returned from a getaway to Costa Rica with One Direction singer Louis. The Perfect hitmaker and reality beauty couldn't keep their hands off each other on a sun-soaked day out. They were spotted hiring a quad bike, with Louis taking the lead as they cruised through town. The History singer wore an orange T-shirt and white shorts, which he teamed with black sunglasses and a baseball cap. Zara stunned in loose white trousers and a crop top layered over her green bikini. At one point Louis puffed on a cigarette while they waited for their ride, with a smitten Zara wrapping her arms around him. Louis returned the affection by gently squeezing her bum and planting a kiss. They were later seen grinning at each other before hopping on the quad bike and driving away. Louis flew the Strictly star out in first class to a secluded villa last week. He's currently working on new music there and wanted to spend some quality time with Zara after going public with their romance. She was previously seen locking lips with her new pop star beau as they dined at a restaurant. A source said: 'Louis and Zara are going from strength to strength. 'He got his team to organise her first-class travel from London to Costa Rica. 'It meant Zara was unable to attend the TV Baftas but she is keen to spend as much time with Louis as possible." Louis will be back in the UK for Soccer Aid next week and is set to play on the England side with Zara's ex Sam Thompson. Zara split from former Made In Chelsea star Sam in January, moving out of Sam's West London home, and leaving behind the two cats they shared. She has decided to skip Soccer Aid to avoid an awkward run-in with her ex. Zara and Louis confirmed their romance on holiday in Los Angeles over a month ago. The pair were snapped holding hands in a sweet PDA during their trip to the US. The Sun revealed they were an item after they were spotted enjoying an overnight stay at The Suffolk in Aldeburgh in exclusive photos. It came amid reports that Zara had formed close bonds with Louis' sisters Phoebe and Daisy. They recently teased a new reality show, with sources claiming Zara has been helping them behind the scenes thanks to her experience as a TV presenter and documentary maker. 5 5

Huge EastEnders star slams time on soap and claims bosses ‘made promises they never kept'

A FORMER EastEnders star has slammed his time on the show and claimed bosses 'made promises they didn't keep'. Jamie Foreman starred as Derek Branning in EastEnders from November 2011 until December 2012. 3 3 3 Despite being part of one of Walford's most iconic families, Jamie, 67, has confessed his time as Derek is not 'a career highlight'. Speaking on the Lewis Nicholls Show, he said: 'I'm going to be a little bit controversial here. 'I don't see EastEnders as anywhere near the highlight of my career. 'It was a lovely job and I respect it. But for me… they'd asked me so many times before.' Recalling the offer from EastEnders, Jamie continued: 'They said, 'it's with the best family, it's full on, you can do as long as you want'. I said, 'I only want to do it for a year'. 'I went and met with them and they made me all manner of promises that they never kept, like 'you'll never work a Saturday'. I did every Saturday. I was the first in, last out every day.' Jamie's character Derek was killed off during the Christmas Day 2012 episode when he suffered a heart attack. In his short time as a resident of Albert Square Derek cemented himself as one of the soap's most notorious bad boys. He had an affair with Alfie Moon's wife Kat Slater, tormented Pat Butcher on her death bed and told Sharon Watts' son Denny the truth about his dad Dennis Rickman. It's not the first time Jamie has spoken negatively about his time on the show. Penny Branning calls her dad 'big man Jack' in EastEnders In 2013 he appeared on Daybreak and said: 'I hated the scenes in the Queen Vic, I'm terribly sorry to everybody! 'I'm sure a lot of the cast will say the same thing - they're so long and laborious. 'You've got to stand there and wait for somebody over there to stop talking, so you're listening to that conversation, then it cuts to somebody else. You never shoot a scene quickly in there.'
