One Feature of the Oura Ring 4 Completely Transformed My Sleep Quality

CNET17 hours ago
It's no secret that sleep is important. At this point, I think we all understand that it affects just about every aspect of our well-being -- from mood to athletic performance. But I never really understood how much some of my daily habits affected my sleep quality and, in turn, my energy levels during the day. That is until I started using the Oura Ring. What started as an interesting way of tracking my step count and workouts ended up being a real game changer for my sleep and overall well-being.
Unlike bulky smartwatches, the Oura ring is sleek, lightweight and highly comfortable. I wear it all day, every day, and only take it off while I shower (which is when I charge it). Every morning, I check the Oura app to see my sleep score, which breaks down how much sleep I got and how much time I spent in deep, REM and light sleep.

How I use it

The biggest thing I started paying attention to was my "Readiness Score," which tells me how well my body has recovered overnight and how well it handles daytime stress. If my score is low, Oura prompts me to take it easy that day and suggests meditations I can access from within the app.
I've also used the ring to tweak my nighttime routine. I used to scroll on my phone before bed, but after seeing how much it disrupted my sleep, I switched to the in-app Headspace meditations instead. I noticed how my sleep quality has improved since then.
Why it's worth it
Before using an Oura ring, I thought I was getting decent sleep. After using the Oura Ring Gen 3 model for a year and then switching to the Gen 4 (which I have been using for six months), I now realize how much better I feel when prioritizing rest and having a good nighttime routine. I wake up feeling more refreshed and energized. It's also one of the few fitness trackers I don't mind wearing all the time since it looks like a piece of jewelry, not a bulky tech device.
If you're curious about how your sleep and recovery impact your overall well-being, the Oura ring is for you.
In fact, this gadget is so useful and easy to set up, I think it would make an excellent gift for anyone looking to step up their health and wellness game. Why GM Spring Hill is changing up how it produces EV batteries

General Motors' Spring Hill plant will begin producing cheaper battery cells as part of the company's ongoing multibillion dollar joint-venture with South Korean-based LG Energy Solution. The announcement is the latest stepping stone of a 2021 $2.3 billion partnership dubbed Ultium Cells. The low-cost battery cells are known as lithium iron phosphate (LFP). Named after the elemental compounds involved, LFPs are cheaper than other battery cell counterparts used in electric vehicles. 'At GM, we're innovating battery technology to deliver the best mix of range, performance and affordability to our EV customers,' Kurt Kelty, VP of batteries, propulsion, and sustainability at GM, said in a press release. 'This upgrade at Spring Hill will enable us to scale production of lower cost LFP cell technologies in the U.S., complementing our high-nickel and future lithium manganese rich solutions and further diversifying our growing EV portfolio.' Touted for its longer range between charges and reliability in low temperatures, high-nickel battery cells continue to dominate the U.S. market. Despite high-nickel's advantages, EV manufacturers are beginning to favor LFPs for its lower costs and non-combustibility. With the majority of LFP production based in China, a host of EV manufacturers are planning to onshore LFP manufacturing to create supply chain security. While LG Energy Solution has major LFP production sites in Holland, Michigan, and now Spring Hill, other soon-to-be LFP manufacturers include Tesla and Ford who plan to build production sites in Nevada and Michigan, respectively. The Spring Hill plant employs 1,300 people and expects to begin producing the battery cells by late 2027. 'We are grateful for the continued partnership and support we've received from the state of Tennessee as we continue to advance our lead in EV battery cell manufacturing,' President and CEO of Ultium Cells Kee Eun said in a statement. 'This investment expands our capabilities beyond a single battery cell chemistry, allowing us to produce new chemistries alongside our existing cells. 'Expanding our product portfolio ensures Ultium Cells will remain at the forefront of battery cell innovation and sustain our commitment to be a stable, long-term employer for the communities we serve.' The Ultium Cells plant in Warren, Ohio, will continue to produce battery cells with nickel cobalt manganese aluminum chemistry. Ether-linked stocks jump as crypto coin hits 6-month high

By Medha Singh (Reuters) -Cryptocurrency-related stocks rose in premarket trading on Friday, with shares linked to ether leading the charge after the No. 2 crypto hit a six-month high. Shares of BitMine Immersion Technologies, which holds about $1 billion worth of ether, soared 14%. Other ether holding firms Bit Digital and BTCS added 4% and 12.5%, respectively. Ether climbed to $3,675.81, its highest since January 6, and was last up 5% at $3,601.40, outperforming bitcoin, which eased 0.7% to $118,961 after hitting a record high of $123,153 this week. BitMine, where tech billionaire Peter Thiel is the top investor and Fundstrat's Tom Lee serves as chairman of the board, said on Thursday it had accumulated 300,657 ether in just three weeks and aims to acquire about 5% of over ether supply which currently stands at 120.71 million. A number of other companies recently decided to add ether to their balance sheets, following the example of Strategy, the largest corporate holder of bitcoin. Strategy's bitcoin stockpile was acquired at a sharp discount over the years to current price. SharpLink, which has funded its ether treasury through stock sale over the past seven weeks, said it had raised its current $1 billion share sale plan by an additional $5 billion. Its shares rose 5.6%. Ether benefits from increased usage of U.S.-dollar-pegged tokens known as stablecoins. Most stablecoins are issued and transacted on the underlying blockchain Ethereum, driving up demand for ether to pay transaction fees. "The standout proposition of institutional Ethereum accumulation seems to be stablecoin growth which has been further accelerated by the recent success of Circle IPO," said Matthew Dibb, CIO at Astronaut Capital, a Singapore-based crypto asset manager. "Ethereum is by far the biggest beneficiary of stablecoin usage." The U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday passed a bill to create a regulatory framework for stablecoins, a watershed moment for the digital asset industry. "Time will tell whether these treasury companies outperform the core ETH ETF, but given the success of (Strategy) in recent years, it won't stop them from trying." BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF has gained 10% so far this month, while the ether equivalent ETF has added nearly 36% in the same period. Among other crypto stocks, stablecoin issuer Circle Internet gained 2.7%, while crypto exchange Coinbase Global added 2% on Friday. Vertiv Holdings Co (VRT) Will Benefit From Data Center Spending, Says Jim Cramer

We recently published . Vertiv Holdings Co (NYSE:VRT) is one of the stocks Jim Cramer recently discussed. Vertiv Holdings Co (NYSE:VRT) has been one of Jim Cramer's top data center stocks in 2025. The firm's shares have gained 6% year-to-date as they are yet to claw back all of the losses incurred during January's DeepSeek AI selloff. Vertiv Holdings Co (NYSE:VRT)'s shares are still down by 18% from their level before the selloff. Cramer discussed the poor performance as he remarked that the data center sector had suffered from bearish sentiment, but the trend appeared to be reversing. His comments about Vertiv Holdings Co (NYSE:VRT) came in the context of a $90 billion investment in Pennsylvania data center by technology and financial services firms: 'No I mean data centers are the story again. Pennsylvania data centers. The building of them would be CoreWeave, the President's going to Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania being a hub for all these. Everyone wants to play the parts of data center again. It really cooled in April. No one cared. The stocks got killed. . .I think that you can go back to these stocks, Vertiv got hit the other day because people felt that Amazon wasn't going to use them. That's not true. . . You want to be there again, because the building is continuing and I just feel like, wow it's a pretty good time.' A close-up of a group of technicians working on complex data center systems. Earlier, the CNBC TV host discussed Vertiv Holdings Co (NYSE:VRT) and other companies: 'Well, we spent a lot of time today, Jeff Marks and I, and Ben Stoto, talking about how really significant that Amazon note is. Now, I happen to think Vertiv's a fabulous company, and I believe that you're getting a chance to buy it again… Look, Amazon makes a lot of very, very good products. They do it themselves, but I think that right now, Vertiv is really hard… Jensen Huang, by the way, went to the White House today, and you know what? I bet you, the president didn't trash that guy. No, I bet you he congratulated him.' While we acknowledge the potential of VRT as an investment, our conviction lies in the belief that some AI stocks hold greater promise for delivering higher returns and have limited downside risk.
