One dead and two injured as plane crashes in popular US national park
The Murphy SR3500 Moose carrying three people dropped in the Quinault area of the national park on Tuesday evening.
National Park Service officials described the crash site as 'a forested, steep slope' north of the Irely Lake Trailhead.
'Rangers immediately coordinated a response with Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Search and Rescue,' stated the park service.
All three victims were rushed to a nearby trauma center. One died and the other two received medical treatment.
The cause of the crash was not immediately known. It is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board.
Authorities have not identified the victims.
Olympic National Park in Port Angeles was the tenth most visited national park in the US in 2023, with 2.95 million visitors, according to the outdoors company KÜHL.

The crash happened more than two months after a tour van with 14 occupants collided with a pickup truck near Yellowstone National Park and burst into flames. Two witnesses on a highway managed to rescue eight people from the smoking van including a child. The driver and six passengers were killed.
And in 2019, a tour bus with 30 people on board crashed near a highway rest stop close to Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah, killing at least four people and leaving several others seriously injured. The canyon is famous for its narrow red-hued spires and is about 300 miles south of Salt Lake City.

Donald Trump 'looking forward' to meeting John Swinney during trip to Scotland
The US President will meet the First Minister and Prime Minister during a trip that spans five days. Donald Trump said he is 'looking forward' to meeting the 'Scottish leader' John Swinney. Speaking to reporters before he began his travel to Scotland, the US president described his Turnberry golf course as 'the number one course in the world'. Trump said he was going to have dinner at Turnberry with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and 'then we're going to go to the oil capital of Europe, which is Aberdeen'. He added: 'We're going to have a good time. I think the Prime Minister and I get along very well.' Asked about meeting with the First Minister Swinney, President Trump said that he has a 'lot of love' for Scotland. He added: ' The Scottish leader is a good man, so I look forward to meeting him.' The president owns Trump Turnberry near Ayr and Trump International at Menie, near Aberdeen. Trump also indicated that he and Sir Keir Starmer could 'approve' the US-UK trade deal when they meet in Scotland. He said: 'We're going to be talking about the trade deal that we made and maybe even approve it.' Nicole Kidman could flee Trump's US after applying for residency in Europe
Nicole Kidman could be swapping US soil for the sun of Portugal after applying for residency in the country. The Babygirl actor, 58, submitted her paperwork to the country's immigration agency earlier this week, according to local media outlet SIC Notícias. The Australian icon, who was seen stepping out of a private jet in Cascais – a wealthy seaside enclave just outside of Lisbon – is reportedly browsing for a lavish new pad. The Oscar-winner is said to be eyeing up a property at the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club, a luxury development about 130km south of Lisbon, which is known as a favourite among the Hollywood elite. George Clooney and Paris Hilton enjoy spending time here, and it is also a base for Princess Eugenie. Husband Keith Urban was reportedly not mentioned in the documents. The New York Post reports that the Blue Ain't Your Colour singer was unable to break away from touring for the trip.
