Sean Combs May Need to ‘Dial' Lavish Lifestyle ‘Back' as He Racks Up ‘Massive' Legal Bills: Source

Yahoo16-07-2025
Sean 'Diddy' Combs scored a victory when he was only found guilty of two out of five counts in his high profile trial – but the disgraced music producer is still facing a mountain of debts that could radically affect his lavish lifestyle in the future, according to a source.
'Even though it's looking likely he'll get to keep his assets, that doesn't mean it's smooth sailing from here on out,' a source exclusively dishes to the National Enquirer. 'His legal bills are going to be so massive it's hard to even estimate how many tens of millions he'll be on the hook for with that.'
His payments to his lawyers for his criminal case aren't the only ones the hip hop artist has to worry about in the future. Since his September 2024 arrest, Diddy has been hit with dozens of civil suits accusing him of sexual assault, harassment, making violent threats and more. His legal team has repeatedly slammed the lawsuits as a money grab and maintained his innocence.
'Only time will tell what those will cost him, but people are predicting it will be a whole lot,' continues the source. 'He's used to living like a king, private jets, tons and tons of staff, throwing money around like it's nothing. But the reality is he won't have that kind of money anymore so he'll need to dial things back in a big way.'
The court of public opinion could also be 'very unforgiving' to Diddy, which could affect his 'earning power' over the rest of his career – even if he manages to dodge a significant amount of prison time, the source speculates.
'Any good advisor is going to be telling him he needs to scale things way back once he's out,' the source adds. 'If he fails to listen and keeps his spending where it was at pre-trial, it could lead to disaster.'
Earlier this month, celebrity financial advisor Devin White told the Enquirer that he thinks Diddy's 'Sean John business deals with Macy's and other stores are going to be finished' once everything is said and done.
As the National Enquirer reported, Diddy was found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution on July 2. He was found not guilty on his sex trafficking and racketeering related charges. He'd previously pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Following the verdict, Judge Arun Subramanian ruled that Diddy would not be released on bail as he awaits his sentencing hearing in October. He is set to remain in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Teen Cuts Contact with Adoptive Parents After They Missed Graduation to Buy $350 ‘Rare' Labubu for Biological Daughter

The Teen wrote on Reddit that she only got a $150 gift for her big day An 18-year-old girl is wondering if she made the right decision in cutting off her adoptive parents after they missed almost all of her graduation to buy their biological daughter a "super rare" Labubu doll. Taking to Reddit's popular "Am I the A-----" subreddit, the teen said that she felt "justified" but wanted a second opinion. She explained that her parents had fertility struggles when they adopted her as a baby. Eight years later, they welcomed their "miracle" baby — whom she referred to as Princess, now 10. "Princess was spoiled and clearly the favorite. She never got in trouble, was always right, got WHATEVER she wanted and acted HOWEVER she wanted," she explained. While she didn't say she was mistreated, she wrote that she felt "jealous" of the extra attention and gifts given to her younger sister. The recent graduate said that she mostly stays out of the house to cut contact with Princess. "Now I have a car and a boyfriend (since sophomore year). I stay with him a lot and his family loves me so I'm barely home, maybe 24 hours at most weekly. My parents didn't care and this was my normal so I stopped caring too," she wrote. The situation took a turn for the worse on the day of her graduation, which the teen said was "one of the few things I asked my parents to come to." Her excitement about the day was dulled when Princess found a way to "ruin" it. "See her current obsession are these doll plush keychains called Labubus, she collects them and that specific day, she found this super rare one for sale in our city," she wrote. "Now instead of contacting the seller and buying it the next day, my parents went to go get it." She continued, saying that they showed up so late for graduation that the students were already tossing their caps. Making it worse, she shared that the Labubu cost $350, and her graduation gift from her parents was $150. "I was hurt. After graduation, I ignored them and went home with my boyfriend. I've basically moved in with him at this point since anytime I went back 'home' it was to get my things to go back. My parents called, texted, apologized, even came over and begged me to forgive them, worst part of it all, they think it's the money and sent me another hundred dollars. I refused to talk to them," she wrote. The situation is getting more "serious," she said, sharing that her parents were "threatening to report me as missing/ a runaway and contact my future college if I don't go back home." Many Redditors rushed to assure the user that her actions were entirely justified. "Sibling favoritism is so crazy to me and i think it's so unfair to the one being treated poorly. The fact that they only thought it was about the money speaks high volumes about their character. it doesn't help their case either that they adopted you and can't show you the same love they have for their 'real' offspring," one person replied. They continued, adding, "i wouldn't forgive them nor would i go back to their house for a good while. until they can understand what they are doing is completely unacceptable." is now available in the Apple App Store! "Been there, yo. people don't realize how much the 'little things' build up over time. you don't have to accept the bare minimum just 'cause it's coming from family. you deserve effort, too," another Redditor noted. Calling them "hurtful and dismissive," another person wrote that the girl's parents "prioritized a toy over your graduation." Others spoke to the legality of the situation, with many pointing out that she was legally an adult. Since she was 18, her parents had no control over what she also provided some advice and words of warning: "I would call your future college and explain that you are estranged from your parents. Tell them your parents are threatening to call the college and make a scene. Update all your contact info. Ask that a note be put on your profile that you do not authorize them to make any changes or obtain any information." "Honestly missing an important event like graduation for some stupid and expensive keychain, is just the straw that broke the camels back," another user commiserated. "I understand the princess being a miracle baby, but I have a feeling that in the next five to ten years your parents are really going to regret not disciplining her more." Crypto Tax Implications After The GENIUS Act

Despite new crypto legislation, the IRS still treats digital assets as property, leaving key tax rules unchanged for traders and investors. Crypto Tax Implications After the GENIUS Act The crypto regulatory landscape is evolving rapidly, but one thing remains unchanged: the IRS still treats cryptocurrencies as "intangible property" for tax purposes. Despite major legislative developments like the July 2025 GENIUS Act and the House-passed CLARITY Bill (pending in the Senate), tax treatment has not shifted. Property, Not Securities or Commodities The IRS's classification—originally laid out in Notice 2014-21—means crypto is taxed under capital gains rules for property, not as securities (which trigger wash sale rules) or commodities (which may qualify for favorable Section 1256 treatment). For a digital asset to be taxed as a security, it generally must resemble traditional equities, such as stock or bonds. Most crypto tokens do not meet that test. Bitcoin futures, however, are an exception. Traded on regulated futures exchanges like the CME, they qualify as Section 1256 contracts with a 60/40 capital gains split and mark-to-market (MTM) at year-end. But spot crypto holdings and most tokenized assets remain property. GENIUS Act: Compliance Without Tax Impact The GENIUS Act introduces robust reserve, audit, and disclosure requirements for U.S. stablecoin issuers, including 1:1 asset backing and monthly financial attestations. However, it does not reclassify stablecoins for tax purposes. CLARITY Bill: Regulatory Structure, Not Tax Change The CLARITY Bill provides a framework for determining whether a digital asset is a security or a commodity, largely based on decentralization. The SEC and CFTC share oversight under the proposal. But this classification does not override the IRS's existing stance—digital assets remain property unless tax law changes. Why It Matters Bottom Line Until Congress amends the tax code or the IRS updates its guidance, digital assets are taxed as property. That's good news for traders looking to harvest losses—but it also means they miss out on some of the favorable treatments available to securities or commodities traders.
