Man sentenced to 13 years for shooting that injured 5-year-old and her father
WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A D.C. man was sentenced Wednesday for a 2024 shooting that injured a 5-year-old and her father, according to the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the District of Columbia.
Alante Partlow, 30, was sentenced to 13 years in prison and five years of supervised release.
The USAO states Partlow pled guilty in October 2024 to two counts of aggravated assault while armed and one count of possession of a firearm during a crime of violence.
Father, 5-year-old child shot in Northeast DC
According to court records, on April 23, 2024, around 11:30 p.m., a 5-year-old and her father were walking out of an apartment building in the Fort Totten neighborhood after the man had previously argued with Partlow.
Court records say Partlow followed the two outside and fired at the man who tried to shield the child and was struck multiple times, with the child also sustaining injuries.
According to the USAO, the Metropolitan Police Department investigated the incident, and the case was part of the Make DC Safe and Beautiful Executive Order.

Robinson, 23, then allegedly proceeded to call Spirit Airlines at approximately 6:25 a.m. to report a threat, stating that he had 'information' about how there would "be someone who's gonna try to blow up the airport" and 'there's gonna be someone that's gonna try to blow up that flight, 2145," officials said. He allegedly also gave a description of an individual, telling Spirit Airlines, per the attorney's office, "They're going to be carrying a bomb through the TSA" and "They're still threatening to do it, they're still attempted to do it, they said it's not going to be able to be detected. Please don't let that flight board.' The district attorney's office said the flight was immediately postponed, and passengers and crew were subsequently deplaned. When Robinson eventually returned to the airport to board another flight, he was detained, the district attorney's office said. He later appeared in federal court, where he was released on bond. His next court appearance is set for June 27. 'No American wants to hear the words 'bomb' and 'airplane' in the same sentence. Making this kind of threat undermines our collective sense of security and wastes valuable law enforcement resources,' U.S. Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon said in a statement. 'Anyone who threatens to bomb an aircraft and endanger public safety will be swiftly investigated and brought to justice,' added Cheyvoryea Gibson, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Detroit Field Office. The FBI continues to investigate the incident. Joci Moore, one of the passengers of the flight, recalled the harrowing incident to CBS News. She said the plane had begun to back away from the gate when the captain told them that they were 'being held up.' 'So something at the gate had happened,' she told the outlet. 'You could just kind of feel something was wrong, but we didn't really know what was wrong.' Moore added that passengers were left on the plane for three hours before they were then asked to exit the plane without their belongings. She said they were then taken back to the terminal and waited an additional two hours before they could board the plane again after it was inspected and cleared by police. In a statement to PEOPLE, a Spirt Airlines spokesperson said, "Law enforcement was requested to meet Spirit Airlines flight 2145 (DTW-LAX) prior to departure from Detroit (DTW) due to a potential security issue.' "The aircraft taxied to a remote location, and guests were safely deplaned and transported back to the terminal. The guests were rescreened, and the aircraft was inspected and cleared by law enforcement," they continued. Man sentenced for string of armed robberies targeting Trinidad construction workers
WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A D.C. man was sentenced to 16 years in prison for a series of armed robberies that prosecutors said targeted construction workers in the Trinidad neighborhood. The U.S. Attorney's Office (USAO) for the District of Columbia said that Franco Rawlings Jr., 24, was charged with two counts of armed robbery, one count of robbery and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm. He pleaded guilty in August 2024 to the charges. According to evidence, on April 18, 2023, Rawlings approached a welder who was working at a home in the 1400 block of Montello Ave., NE, pointed a gun at him and demanded money. He stole the victim's wallet, which had $700 inside. On May 30, 2023, Rawlings and the co-conspirator approached two victims installing a deck in the 1300 block of Montello Ave. NE. They 'forced the victims into the basement, then to the ground at gunpoint.' The pair robbed the victims and then left. On June 27, 2023, Rawlings and the co-conspirator once again approached construction workers in Northeast D.C. Prosecutors said that they confronted three workers who were remodeling a home in the 1100 block of Owen Pl. NE. Rawlings was armed with a gun and ordered the victims to raise their hands. The duo stole money from the victims before escaping. Police: Four people found dead in possible murder-suicide at Manassas Park apartment
MANASSAS PARK, Va. () — Police in Manassas Park are investigating after four people were found dead inside an apartment on Thursday night. Manassas Park police told DC News Now that officers were called to a home in the 9400 block of Lanae Lane for a welfare check around 10 p.m. on June 5. Upon entering a basement apartment, police officers located two adults and two minors dead.
