Oliver Rowland clinches Formula E title as Nick Cassidy wins second Berlin E-Prix
Chief title rival Pascal Wehrlein needed another strong points finish to keep his championship defence going into the double-header London finale, but faded during the race and slipped to 16th at the finish.

With Rowland battling at the front of the pack in the closing stages - the Nissan driver running in fourth place when the majority of attack mode activations had been taken - clinching the title in the Berlin Sunday race looked realistic until a full course yellow period was called on the penultimate lap.
But with the yellow flags withdrawn before the end of that lap, Rowland kept clear of the chasing pack to take fourth place and with it the drivers' title with two races to spare.

Having dominated the Formula E season after victory in round two in Mexico, Rowland picked up further wins in Jeddah, Monaco and Tokyo to strengthen his grip on the title, while Wehrlein was unable to find the same consistency as the British driver.

Cassidy charged from 20th on the grid to win the second race of the weekend in Berlin, making it a Jaguar double after team-mate Mitch Evans won on Saturday.
The Kiwi driver fended off 2022-23 Formula E champion Jake Dennis, who had to settle for second for Andretti. Jean-Eric Vergne rounded out the podium for DS Penske.

Di Marzio confirms talks with AC Milan over £70m striker deal
The focus at Liverpool in recent days has been completing a British record deal for Alexander Isak. Liverpool opened the bidding for the Newcastle striker last Friday - offering a sum in the region of £120m. That wasn't enough to convince the Geordies to sell their star attraction but it looks like the Reds will be back before the transfer window closes. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas home range 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! Until the weekend it appeared that the Uruguayan's destiny lay in Saudi Arabia - with Simone Inzaghi summoning the 26-year-old to Al-Hilal. Chelsea backed for signing World Cup winner to 'win titles'
Chelsea backed for signing World Cup winner to 'win titles' originally appeared on The Sporting News Former Chelsea midfielder Emanuel Petit has urged the club to try and sign Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez during the ongoing summer transfer window. The Argentine shot-stopper has been linked with a move away from Villa Park in the current transfer window, with Manchester United being a possible destination. The Red Devils even saw a loan move for the player rejected by Villa, but it is believed that Martinez would be allowed to leave for around £40 million ($53m). Chelsea have been on the lookout for a new goalkeeper throughout the ongoing transfer window and were heavily linked with a move for AC Milan shot-stopper Mike Maignan. The Blues had reportedly agreed on personal terms with the player, but failed to agree on a transfer fee with the club. Interestingly, Enzo Maresca's team were also linked with a move for Martinez in the early part of the window, and now Petit has urged them to rekindle their interest and sign the player. 📲 Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp Petit's advice to Chelsea about signing Emiliano Martinez Speaking to Petit said: "Emiliano Martinez would be an inspiration in the Chelsea dressing room. I have criticised his behaviour in the past, but he knows what it takes to win titles; he has that experience." "He can inspire other players, and he has all the qualities needed of a top goalkeeper. He would be a very good signing for Chelsea, and 32 isn't old for a goalkeeper. I think he'd link well with Enzo Maresca and the players already at the club." "One fear I have is for Aston Villa, I am worried about them with top players leaving the club, I'm not sure where it will leave them next season."
