Drought over – Spurs join Palace and Newcastle in ending long wait for trophy
Brennan Johnson's goal and Micky van de Ven's goal-line clearance saw Spurs join Newcastle and Crystal Palace in overdue celebrations and here, the PA news agency looks at the trio's trophy records.
Spurs' win kept up Ange Postecoglou's proudly stated record of always winning a trophy in his second season in a managerial job, following Australian titles with South Melbourne and Brisbane Roar, the Asian Cup with Australia – and age-group titles with the under-17 and under-20 sides – the J1 League with Yokohama and a domestic treble at Celtic.
It made him the first boss to bring silverware to Spurs for 17 years, since the 2008 League Cup under Juande Ramos, while it was their first European success since the UEFA Cup – predecessor of the Europa League – in 1984.
Their 18 major trophies include two league titles, eight FA Cups, four League Cups, another UEFA Cup to make it three wins in this competition, and the 1963 Cup Winners' Cup.
The Magpies' drought, stretching back to the 1969 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, had received even more attention than that of Spurs and the celebrations after their 2-1 Carabao Cup final win over Liverpool reflected that.
Eddie Howe's side ended that 56-year wait and secured a first ever League Cup and first domestic trophy in seven decades, since the 1955 FA Cup. With six wins in the latter competition and four league titles, the last in 1927, Newcastle have 12 major trophies in all.
The FA Cup is the first major trophy added to Palace's cabinet in their near 120-year history as Eberechi Eze's goal against Manchester City cemented himself, boss Oliver Glasner et al in the club's history.
They had twice been runners-up in the competition, losing the 1990 and 2016 finals to Manchester United, with their other honours consisting of several promotions and the 1991 Full Members Cup – the competition currently known as the Vertu Trophy and contested by League One and Two clubs.
Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton and Fulham are the remaining Premier League teams with no major trophies to their name.
The Cottagers lost the 2010 Europa League and 1975 FA Cup finals, while Brighton's lost a 1983 FA Cup final replay and won the Charity Shield against Football League champions Aston Villa after their 1910 Southern League title.
Wolves' last trophy was the 1980 League Cup, while Nottingham Forest and Everton are also without a top-level trophy in the 21st century. Next season will add promoted Leeds and Burnley and play-off winners Sheffield United or Sunderland to that list.

England starting lineup tonight as major changes made after Andorra debacle
England eked out a win against minnows Andorra on Saturday, with Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel set to ring the changes in the wake of that farcical performance Ruthless Thomas Tuchel is set to make seven changes to his England line-up for Tuesday's friendly against Sengal. The moves come after Saturday's farcical win over Andorra, in which the Three Lions could manage just one goal against the minnows. England were booed off at both half-time and at the final whistle by their own fans for their performance. They needed a second-half strike from captain Harry Kane to dispatch their opponents, ranked 153rd in the world. The Three Lions now have a break from World Cup qualifying, instead taking on Senegal in a friendly. The game will be hosted at Nottingham Forest's City Ground, with FA chiefs keen to have the national team move around the country. While the game isn't competitive, Tuchel will be taking Tuesday's game seriously, given he has a limited amount of time with the team. The German only took charge in January with a brief to win next year's World Cup. There are only a handful of international breaks left before that tournament, limiting Tuchel's time with the squad. And he will now show his ruthless side by making seven changes to his starting line-up. Only captain Kane, Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham and Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, who caught the eye against Andorra, will keep their places in the team. The changes start in goal, with Dean Henderson handed a start over No.1 Jordan Pickford. Henderson is being rewarded after starring as Crystal Palace won the FA Cup, with Tuchel keen to get a full assessment of his options between the sticks. At right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold will come into the team after the experiment of playing Curtis Jones there failed. Phone call could see Arsenal lose out on Zubimendi deal as Ian Wright makes plea

Zubimendi phone call could curtail transfer Arsenal are sweating on a move for Real Sociedad midfielder Zubimendi after Real Madrid stepped up their interest in the Spain international, according to reports. Zubimendi has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates and it was thought a deal was practically agreed ahead of the summer transfer window. According to Marca, a deal for Zubimendi has become more complicated after Madrid joined the chase for the player, with "real interest" from Xabi Alonso's side as they bid to replace the outgoing Luka Modric. Zubimendi will now be eager to sort out his future, which remains up in the air despite appearing destined for Arsenal. The report from Marca claims he received a phone call from Madrid that has "changed everything". Wright's transfer wish Ian Wright has urged Arsenal to sign Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman this summer, stating that the Nigerian has 'unfinished business' in the Premier League. Now 27, he has spent the past three seasons with Serie A overachievers Atalanta, where his performances have caught the eye - not least his stunning hat-trick in the Europa League final 12 months ago. Gunners legend Wright named Lookman as a player he would like to see at the Emirates Stadium next season. Lineker surprised by Delap stance Gary Lineker has expressed his surprise that Arsenal overlooked Liam Delap in their quest for a new striker.
