Raducanu frustrated by racket tension problem in Wimbledon loss to Sabalenka
The British player let leads slip in both sets of her 7-6 (6), 6-4 loss at Centre Court with the retractable roof closed.
'I felt like the ball was flying. I had all my rackets strung up fresh for the match, and it just felt like it was pinging completely different,' Raducanu said. 'It could have been a little bit because the roof was on. I sent a couple rackets to be re-strung.
'But it takes, like, 20 minutes by the time they turn it over. Still, it was a bit difficult. So I'm frustrated with that part maybe, small details. But I don't think I could have made different choices. I think I should have just executed better.'
Sabalenka agreed 'the balls were flying more,' she suspected, because of higher humidity with the roof closed.
The three-time Grand Slam champion said her team typically has extra rackets ready.
'They always have like two extra rackets with the higher tension and two extra rackets with lower tension. They prepare it. You don't have to wait for another racket,' Sabalenka said.

Sabalenka said she lost in the 2023 French Open semifinals to Karolina Muchova 'because I didn't have racket' with the right tension.
'We weren't prepared. I didn't have a right tension. I had to play with a lower tension. I didn't control the ball, didn't feel well,' she said.
'After that experience,' she continued, 'we learned it's four extra rackets in my team's bag just in case. You never know. You can wake up and feel great with one tension. Another day you wake up and you don't feel at all. You got to be prepared.'

Tour de France: Philipsen wins first stage, Pogačar finishes safely
LILLE, France (AP) — Jasper Philipsen won the opening stage of the Tour de France in a sprint to the line while defending champion Tadej Pogačar finished safely on Saturday. Pogačar is looking to win the showcase race for a fourth time on the back of great form this season. Stage 1 took riders on a 185-kilometer (115-mile) route starting and ending in the northern city of Lille. Philipsen's Alpecin-Deceuninck teammate Mathieu van der Poel put him in a great position to pull clear in the last 100 meters and win by a clear margin for his 10th Tour stage win. Eritrean cyclist Biniam Girmay was second and Norwegian Søren Wærenskjold third. Pogačar and two-time Tour champion Jonas Vingegaard of Denmark were in the front group — finishing 18th and 20th, respectively — but did not contest the sprint. All finished in 3 hours, 53 minutes. Guillaume Boivin of Longueil, Que., finished 57th (3:53:50), while Ottawa's Michael Woods was 167th (3:59:42). Double Olympic champion Remco Evenepoel narrowly avoided after about 50 kilometers a crash which unseated Italian rider Filippo Ganna. He continued but later abandoned, as did Swiss rider Stefan Bissegger, caught in a separate crash. There was another crash later when Frenchmen Benjamin Thomas and Mattéo Vercher contested bonus points for the best climber's jersey. Thomas overtook Vercher at the line on the short cobblestoned ascent but lost control of his front wheel and swerved into him. They both fell but got up and continued. Sunday's second stage is a slightly hilly 209-kilometer trek from Lauwin-Planque to Boulogne-sur-Mer in northern France and should again favor sprinters. Brazil striker Igor Jesus joins Nottingham Forest after starring at Club World Cup
NOTTINGHAM, England (AP) — Brazil striker Igor Jesus, one of the stars of the ongoing Club World Cup, signed for Nottingham Forest from Botafogo on Saturday. The 24-year-old center forward scored twice for Botafogo at the tournament taking place in the United States, including the decider against Champions League winner Paris Saint-Germain. Igor Jesus joined Botafogo from UAE team Shabab Al Ahli in July 2024 and and his impressive domestic form earned him a first call-up by Brazil for World Cup qualifiers in October and November. He scored on his debut, against Chile. 'I'm really happy to be a part of this new story, especially at a club like Nottingham Forest,' Igor Jesus said. 'I didn't have to think twice about the offer, I embraced it. I embraced the project that they sent me. I am delighted to be coming here and hope to do some great work.' Forest finished in seventh place in the Premier League last season after being in the Champions League places for much of the campaign.
