3-time Grand Slam semifinalist Grigor Dimitrov is out of the US Open with an injured chest muscle
NEW YORK (AP) — Three-time Grand Slam semifinalist Grigor Dimitrov withdrew from the U.S. Open on Tuesday, a little more than a month after he tore a chest muscle and had to quit playing against Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon. That exit from the All England Club on July 7 — Dimitrov had taken the opening two sets against Sinner but got hurt in the third — marked the fifth consecutive Grand Slam tournament where the 34-year-old Dimitrov failed to complete a match. It also happened at the Australian Open in January and the French Open in May, plus last year's Wimbledon and U.S. Open. A year ago in New York, Dimitrov stopped while trailing 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 4-1 against Frances Tiafoe in the quarterfinals. Dimitrov was a semifinalist at the U.S. Open in 2019, at the Australian Open in 2017, and at Wimbledon in 2014. His highest ranking was No. 3; he is currently No. 21. With Dimitrov out of the field, Alejandro Tabilo gets a spot in the men's singles bracket, which starts play on Aug. 24. Brandon Holt is the next player who would move into the draw if another man withdraws. Holt upset Taylor Fritz at Flushing Meadows in 2022 and his mother is two-time U.S. Open champion Tracy Austin. ___ AP tennis:

Empire State Building Lights Up in Bright Orange in Anticipation of Taylor Swift's New Album
Empire State Building Lights Up in Bright Orange in Anticipation of Taylor Swift's New Album originally appeared on Parade. Fellow Swifties, it's finally happening: New music is almost here. After dropping hints involving the color orange on Monday, August 11 and a countdown to 12:12 a.m., Swift revealed that her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, is on the way with more details to come later this week. Understandably, fans have been in a tizzy ever since, and apparently, that even includes one major New York City landmark. In this video from the Empire State Building's official TikTok account, we see that the legendary skyscraper has lit up orange in anticipation of Swift's latest career move, and it is everything. Empire State Building, the color orange looks good on you! The video, which was posted on Monday, shows a very orange building set to Swift's song "...Ready for It?" as the caption confirms, "oh, we're definitely ready for it." This isn't the first time that the account for the building has shown what big fans of Swift they are. Many times in the past, they've joined in with Swifties' excitement, including posting this tribute on the singer's birthday in 2023. The Life of a Showgirl is now available for pre-preorder (yes, you read that right) on Swift's website, but so far, that's all the information she's shared about the album — the title, that is. It seems that the rest of the details, like the album cover and the release date, are coming when Swift appears on New Heights, the podcast boyfriend Travis Kelce co-hosts with brother Jason Kelce, on Wednesday night. All will be revealed soon. Now that the Empire State Building is getting hyped, who's next?
