Two teenagers charged with manslaughter after boy, 15, killed in crash in Anjou

A 15-year-old is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle in Montreal's Anjou borough. (Cosmo Santamaria/CTV News) Montreal police say they have arrested two teenagers in relation to the death of a 15-year-old boy who was struck by a vehicle last summer. The two 18-year-old men, who were minors at the time of the crash, appeared in youth court on Thursday to face charges of manslaughter. On Aug. 28, 2024, police said there was a conflict between two groups of young people at the Galeries d'Anjou shopping centre and when the victims were attempting to run away from their attackers, they were 'caught a few blocks from the mall. While fleeing, one of the victims was struck by a vehicle traveling on the service road of Highway 25 North,' police described in a news release on Friday. After the collision with the SUV, the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle. The teen boy who was hit was sent to hospital but succumbed to his injuries two days later. Police said the recent arrests came after searches were carried out on Dec. 11, 2024, when investigators recovered evidence that led to the identification of the two accused teenagers. The investigation into the boy's death continues, police added. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 911, their local police station, or by calling their confidential tip line at 514-393-1133.
