Shinas Port handles goods worth over $30mln in 2024
Shinas Port, a key strategic port in Oman's North Batinah Governorate, witnessed remarkable growth in 2024, with a significant increase in ship traffic and cargo movement. Official statistics indicate that the port handled over 100,000 tonnes of goods, valued at more than RO 11.5 million, reinforcing its role in supporting the national economy and facilitating regional and international trade.
Khater bin Ali al Maamari, Executive Director of Shinas Port, revealed that the number of ships passing through the port reached 707 in 2024, marking a 41% increase compared to the previous year.
The port received approximately 91,343 tonnes of imported goods, including 21,665.98 tonnes of construction materials, 4,083.07 tonnes of food items, and 4,273.68 tonnes of general goods. Additionally, livestock imports reached 15,815 heads, weighing 469 tonnes.
On the export front, the port recorded 11,676.12 tonnes of goods, including 461 tonnes of construction materials, 33 tonnes of food products, and 8,643 tonnes of general goods. Livestock exports were particularly notable, with 70,761 heads weighing 2,133 tonnes.
Maamari attributed this strong performance to ongoing infrastructure improvements and enhanced services at the port, which continue to bolster its position as a key trade hub in the Sultanate. He emphasised that Shinas Port's sustained growth supports various economic sectors and contributes to the expansion of regional and international trade.

The contracts cover the development of integrated tourism complexes in the Wilayats of Khasab and Nakhl, and the transformation of Wadi Al Shab in Sur into a premier adventure tourism destination. The agreements were signed under the patronage of H.E. Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism. The first project focuses on the enhancement of Wadi Al Shab, a prominent natural attraction in the Wilayat of Sur, South Al Sharqiyah Governorate. The initiative includes the construction of an adventure park featuring zip lines, mountain climbing trails, suspension bridges, swimming areas for both adults and children, as well as restaurants and cafés. The project is designed to attract both local and international tourists year-round while promoting environmental sustainability. The second contract was signed with Khasab Development and Investment Company for the establishment of the 'Sandan – Khasab Pearl' integrated tourism complex. Spanning 43,658 square meters in the Wilayat of Khasab, the project will feature a 4-star hotel with 200 rooms and 450 residential units available for ownership by Omanis and foreign nationals. The third project, 'Hamyan Village,' will be developed by Hamyan Investment and Project Development Company on a 201,031 square meter plot in Halban, Wilayat of Nakhl, South Al Batinah Governorate. Represented by Saud Hamad Al Ta'ei, the company will build a 4-star hotel with 156 rooms, 535 residential units including apartments and villas, and a variety of amenities such as a market, restaurants, water park, and other recreational services.

Housing Minister: More than 133,000 firms in Saudi construction sector
RIYADH — Saudi Housing Minister Majid Al-Hogail said that the construction sector in Saudi Arabia has more than 133,000 establishments with over 1.6 million individuals participating daily in building a new reality: smart cities and integrated development. Al-Hogail noted that project management gives organizations greater predictability, responsiveness, and execution, and improves performance and raises the quality of achievement. He emphasized that Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 outlines an ambitious future that reshapes the economic, social, and development landscape. The minister explained that project management has become a strategic approach and an essential tool for leading change and achieving sustainable impact, and is no longer an executive option. He noted that the National Projects Council is playing a growing role in unifying efforts and enhancing performance. He added, "Government project management offices contribute to enhancing planning, follow-up, and governance practices, ensuring quality implementation and consistency with national goals." This came during his inauguration of the Global Project Management Forum (GPMF 2025), hosted by the capital, Riyadh. The GPMF is one of the prominent international events in this field, bringing together more than 13,000 specialists and interested parties from at least 100 countries. There will be 120 international speakers, 60 dialogue sessions and 16 training workshops. Saudi: Hail airport set for expansion to accommodate 2.2mln passengers a year
HAIL — The Ministry of Transport and Logistics is working to expand Hail International Airport with increasing its capacity to more than 2.2 million passengers annually. This is part of a comprehensive development project aimed at developing air transport infrastructure in the northern part of Saudi Arabia and enhancing the efficiency of vital facilities in the region. This was revealed by Director General of the General Administration of Privatization at the Ministry of Transport and Logistics Eng. Saud Al-Arifi while attending a dialogue session titled "Investment opportunities in the transport and logistics sector" at the Hail Forum. He said that the project represents a key pillar of the ministry's plan to transform Hail into an integrated logistics center. Al-Arifi said that the ministry, in cooperation with the Hail Region Development Authority, is also working on a massive logistics center project spanning an area exceeding 374,000 square meters. This project aims to serve supply chains and facilitate the movement of goods between various Saudi regions, he said. Work is underway on a roadside services development project to provide integrated facilities that meet the needs of travelers and support the safety and efficiency of regional roads. These projects are in line with Hail's geographical position as a central hub connecting the north, center, and west, enhancing its ability to play a pivotal role in the future of transportation and logistics services in the Kingdom. It is noteworthy that Hail International Airport is only 60 minutes away from 11 Arab capitals and 200 minutes away from Central Europe.
