A pedestrian was flung into a river after being hit by a car that veered off the road at Jalan Ipoh while heading towards the Kepong roundabout yesterday morning.
PETALING JAYA : A pedestrian who fell into a river after being hit by a car that veered off the road along Jalan Ipoh was found drowned this morning.
Kuala Lumpur traffic investigation and enforcement department chief Zamzuri Isa said the man's body was discovered by rescue personnel at 7.30am today, about 150m from the accident site, Sinar Harian reported.
He said the victim's identity has yet to be confirmed and the body has been sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital forensic unit for a post-mortem.
'Further investigations into the crash are ongoing.'
Police have reclassified the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
Police said initial investigations found the car driven by a 39-year-old Bangladeshi man lost control while heading towards the Kepong roundabout and collided with another car driven by a 43-year-old Vietnamese woman.
The first car then struck a pedestrian before plunging under a bridge and getting caught between concrete structures and iron pipes.
The driver sustained injuries and was sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment.

85 foreign women arrested for working as GROs in Kuantan
KUANTAN: The Pahang Immigration Department detained 85 foreign women suspected of working as guest relations officers (GROs) during a raid on six entertainment outlets along Jalan Gambut here early this morning. Its director Nursafariza Ihsan said 14 foreign men working as waiters at the premises were also detained during the operation, which began at about 1am. She said the women comprised 81 Thai nationals and four from Laos. Also detained were 12 Bangladeshi men, along with one man each from Yemen and China. "They committed various offences, with most of them found to have abused their work permits. Many held permits for the construction and cleaning sectors. "However, they were working as GROs and waiters at the entertainment outlets," she said when met today. Nursafariza added that the Immigration Department would summon the six business owners to assist in investigations. She said all six outlets had previously been raided and action taken, but continued to flout the law. "A large number of foreigners were arrested, even though inspections are regularly carried out at these entertainment centres. "It appears the operators are not afraid of the consequences," she said. All those detained have been taken to the Kemayan Immigration Detention Depot in Bera. They are being investigated under Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 and Section 6(3) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

Pedestrian's body found after two-car collision
KUALA LUMPUR: The body of a pedestrian who had fallen into a river after being hit by a car has been found. Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the body of the man was found at about 7.30am yesterday, around 150m away from the accident site along Jalan Ipoh. 'The identity of the victim has yet to be determined and the body has been sent to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for a post-mortem,' he said when contacted. On Friday, an accident involving two cars led to the collision with the pedestrian. At the time of the incident, a car being driven by a 39-year-old Bangladeshi man had collided into the front side of another car. 'The car driven by the Bangladeshi man then struck a pedestrian before it plunged into the bridge and was caught between concrete structures and iron pipes,' ACP Mohd Zamzuri had said previously. The pedestrian was flung into the river due to the crash. Investigations also showed that the Bangladeshi driver did not own the car that was being driven and that police were tracing down its real owner for further action.

Pamela Ling's lawyer wants CCTV footage of alleged abduction released
Pamela Ling was reported missing on April 9 while on her way to the MACC's headquarters in Putrajaya. (Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : The lawyer of Pamela Ling, who was allegedly abducted in April, is demanding that police release the CCTV footage of the incident. N Sivananthan urged the authorities to release the recording because the investigation into Ling's disappearance 'seems to have reached a dead end', Malaysiakini reported. He also wants the images of her alleged assailants released. 'It's very frustrating, they have told me they have no leads whatsoever to locate her or find out what happened to her,' he was quoted as saying. Ling, 42, was reported missing on April 9 while on her way to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's headquarters in Putrajaya. On May 8, Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa said they had CCTV footage of her alleged abduction. Rusdi also revealed that five vehicles were involved in the incident, and that three of the vehicles had used cloned number plates. 'About eight suspects' are believed to be involved in the alleged kidnapping, with CCTV footage showing that two of them were wearing police vests at the time. On May 15, Rusdi said Ling's husband, Sarawakian businessman Hah Tiing Siu, was arrested to assist in an investigation, but did not disclose the nature of the investigation. MACC chief Azam Baki had previously said Ling was a witness in a money laundering investigation.
