Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the body was located about 150 metres from the crash site this morning, New Straits Times reported. 'The body has been sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for post-mortem,' he was quoted as saying, adding that the victim's identity is yet unknown. He said the case has now been reclassified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. The incident took place at about 11.45am yesterday when a Nissan Sylphy driven by a 39-year-old Bangladeshi man heading from the Batu Muda People's Housing Project lost control of the car near the Kepong roundabout and struck the pedestrian before falling under a bridge and getting caught between concrete structures and iron pipes. The Nissan Sylphy also collided with the front right side of a Toyota Camry, driven by a 43-year-old Vietnamese woman from the direction of Batu Kentomen. The multi-agency search was carried out by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall, police, Fire and Rescue Department, and the Civil Defence Force.

A pedestrian was flung into a river after being hit by a car that veered off the road at Jalan Ipoh while heading towards the Kepong roundabout yesterday morning. PETALING JAYA : A pedestrian who fell into a river after being hit by a car that veered off the road along Jalan Ipoh was found drowned this morning. Kuala Lumpur traffic investigation and enforcement department chief Zamzuri Isa said the man's body was discovered by rescue personnel at 7.30am today, about 150m from the accident site, Sinar Harian reported. He said the victim's identity has yet to be confirmed and the body has been sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital forensic unit for a post-mortem. 'Further investigations into the crash are ongoing.' Police have reclassified the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. Police said initial investigations found the car driven by a 39-year-old Bangladeshi man lost control while heading towards the Kepong roundabout and collided with another car driven by a 43-year-old Vietnamese woman. The first car then struck a pedestrian before plunging under a bridge and getting caught between concrete structures and iron pipes. The driver sustained injuries and was sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the accident, which occurred around 11:45 am, involved two cars and a pedestrian. 'Initial investigations found that a Nissan Sylphy, driven by a 39-year-old Bangladeshi man from the direction of PPR Batu Muda, lost control and collided with the front right side of a Toyota Camry, driven by a 43-year-old Vietnamese woman from the direction of Batu Kentomen, near here. 'The Nissan Sylphy then struck a pedestrian before plunging under the bridge and getting caught between concrete structures and iron pipes,' he said in a statement today. He added that the Nissan Sylphy driver sustained injuries and was sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for further treatment, while the pedestrian victim, whose identity is still unknown, is suspected to have fallen into the river and has yet to be found. He stated that a search and rescue operation is currently underway by the Fire and Rescue Department from Sentul, Jinjang, and Hang Tuah stations, along with the Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM), Motorised Patrol Unit (URB), and JSPT Kuala Lumpur. Mohd Zamzuri said further investigations revealed that the car driven by the foreign man was not his, and police are tracking down the actual owner of the vehicle for further action. He said the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and the Bangladeshi man will be detained for further investigation. — Bernama
