‘Total shock': North Carolina woman plans to travel with $461,435 win
Cynthia Karcher, of Raleigh, said she has several places she wants to visit after winning $461,435, according to an NC Education Lottery news release.
'I would like to take a trip to Greenland, Australia and New Zealand,' she said.

Karcher played a $.50 ticket on May 4 and won the top level 'Epic' jackpot in the Wheel of Bonuses game, a digital instant game featuring a progressive jackpot that can be won at any time.
The odds of that win are 1 in 62 million.
'I was in total shock,' she said. 'I always had hope, but I never hoped for something like that.'
Karcher said the timing of the win works out great since she is now retired.
'This is just a lovely amount at this time in my life,' Karcher said.
She claimed her prize Friday at lottery headquarters.
After required federal and state tax withholdings, she took home $331,080.
In addition to traveling, Karcher plans to remodel her bathroom and put the rest in savings.

AKRON, Ohio (WJW) — One of Northeast Ohio's most notorious killers is making a bid to get out of prison, again. Doug Prade, a former Akron police captain convicted of killing his ex-wife, Dr. Margo Prade, will have his first parole hearing Wednesday, June 4. Wednesday, Prade will go before a parole committee, a small group of parole board members, who will hear his plea for release. Within days, they will make a recommendation to the full board. If they recommend parole, there will be a full hearing with lawyers and victims permitted to speak. Six years ago, when Doug Prade's appeals were rejected by the Ohio Supreme Court, then Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh said the former police captain was right where he belonged. 'It was just a vicious murder and he deserves to serve a very long time in prison,' said Walsh. 'He had been harassing her, He had been illegally wiretapping her phone, threatening her, and assaulting her. She was terrified of him.' Traditionally, the inmate is allowed to have an attorney present at the parole committee hearing, however, only Doug Prade will be permitted to speak. The committee will then make a recommendation to the full parole board in the coming days. If they favor release, they'll hold the larger hearing before making a final decision. A jackpot-winning lottery ticket worth $875,000 was sold in South Florida
Of Tuesday's Florida Lottery-connected draw games — Jackpot Triple Play, Cash4Life, Mega Millions, Fantasy 5 — only one had a jackpot winner and it was worth $875,000. It wasn't Mega Millions, which will have a $223 million top prize for Friday's drawing. The good fortune fell on a Jackpot Triple Play winner, whose Quick Pick ticket bought at the Boca Raton Shell station at 5899 N. Federal Hwy. had 9, 10, 19, 20, 35 and 40. This ticket can be cashed at the Florida Lottery main office in Tallahassee or one of the Florida Lottery district offices.
