Behind the scenes of ‘FOX & Friends': Hosts give rare insider access on FOX Nation

Yahoo29-01-2025

For the first time, viewers can get a behind-the-scenes look at America's #1 cable morning show, "FOX & Friends."
The new FOX Nation documentary, "Behind the Scenes: FOX & Friends," takes audiences through nearly three decades of early mornings, evolving hairstyles, and the camaraderie that keeps the show going strong.
"It goes through the history of 'FOX & Friends.' You see our many hairstyles over the last, almost 30 years. It's great," longtime co-host Steve Doocy remarked.
The 40-minute special offers an intimate look at the hosts, producers, and crew who make America's mornings brighter.
And, as Doocy revealed, caffeine plays a starring role.
"A lot of people say, 'How do you do it every morning? You get up so early,'" he said. "'FOX & Friends' runs on Dunkin.'"

From 6 to 9 a.m., "FOX & Friends" continues to dominate the morning cable news ratings, holding the top spot for 23 consecutive years.
With 1.2 million daily viewers, including 164,000 in the key 25-54 age demographic, the show's staying power is undeniable.
Through old clips and never-before-seen footage, the documentary takes a trip down memory lane, back before "Fox & Friends" even had its now-iconic name.
"It used to be called Fox Express," "FOX & Friends First" co-host Carley Shimkus revealed.
"It was, in the very beginning, and it was like a newsreel where we'd talk about the news of the day in 15-mintutes," Doocy added.
Original host Brian Kilmeade, who's been there from the start, recalled just how much the show has evolved.
"In the beginning, there were no rules … The target was written in pencil," he said.
Doocy agreed, reminiscing about the early days when the show had no script.
"In the very beginning, it started out at about 4:30am, 5 o'clock, the producers would come in, and they'd go 'Ok, what do you want to talk about?' We'd come up with three things, and so on a single card we'd write down those three things, and over two hours we'd just talk."
The documentary captures the trials and triumphs of keeping a live morning show running for nearly three decades, all while showcasing how the hosts — and their wardrobes — have changed since the '90s. It takes you through Fox offices, the green room, and even FOX News meteorologist Janice Dean's 20 years of coats.
And if you ask Steve Doocy how he feels about the documentary? "It's so good!"
"Behind the Scenes: FOX & Friends" is now streaming on FOX Nation.Original article source: Behind the scenes of 'FOX & Friends': Hosts give rare insider access on FOX Nation

Ayo Edebiri Built ‘Barney' Pitch During Asia Trip

Ayo Edebiri is taking on a classic children's TV character after a much-needed break. The Golden Globe winner recently revealed that she developed her pitch for the upcoming Daniel Kaluuya-produced Barney film, from A24 and Mattel Films, during a trip suggested by a friend who noticed she was tired. More from Deadline Ayo Edebiri Tapped To Write Live-Action Barney Movie For Mattel, A24, Producer Daniel Kaluuya; Also In Talks To Star Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz On Barney Film: 'It Will Not Be An Odd Movie' Mikey Madison In Talks To Step In For Sydney Sweeney On A24's 'Masque Of The Red Death' 'She was like, 'When can you take a break?' And then I did. I went on a trip to Asia for a month,' she recalled to The Wall Street Journal. 'I felt like that girl who takes a gap year. That's where I ended up coming up with the idea for Barney that I ended up pitching to Daniel.' Edebiri added, 'I was just thinking of, what are the movies that I want to make? What are the things that I want to do? What are the things that make me excited? So I just had this idea, and then we started building it out together. And then it becomes what it's going to be, which I don't want to say too much about.' The Bear star was tapped to write the film in February, and she's also in talks to star in the adaptation of the PBS kids show Barney & Friends, which ran for 14 seasons from 1992 to 2010. The character of the big purple dinosaur was previously originated in the 1988 direct-to-video series Barney & the Backyard Gang. Mattel exec Kevin McKeon has said the live-action Barney film will be adult-oriented and 'surrealistic,' in the vein of films by Charlie Kaufman and Spike Jonze. 'We're leaning into the millennial angst of the property rather than fine-tuning this for kids,' he said. 'It's really a play for adults. Not that it's R-rated, but it'll focus on some of the trials and tribulations of being thirtysomething, growing up with Barney—just the level of disenchantment within the generation.' Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz has added that the film is 'taking a fresh approach' to the character that will be 'fun, entertaining and culturally oriented,' emphasizing it 'will not be an odd movie.' Editor's note: A previous version of this story inaccurately stated Edebiri developed the pitch with a friend. We regret the error. ‘Alert' & ‘The Cleaning Lady' Canceled By Fox

Fox has determined the fate of two bubble shows, canceling dramas Alert: Missing Persons Unit after three seasons and The Cleaning Lady after four. The network had delayed final decisions on its remaining bubble series until after their current seasons had aired. Alert wrapped its Season 3 run on May 27, and The Cleaning Lady's fourth season ended on June 3. More from Deadline 2025 TV Cancellations: Photo Gallery 2025 Premiere Dates For New & Returning Series On Broadcast, Cable & Streaming Ex-'Doctor Odyssey' Crew Members Sue Disney, 20th TV Claiming Sexual Harassment And Wrongful Termination The cancellations do not come as a surprise as Alert, The Cleaning Lady as well as the other two Fox scripted series not picked up for next season, Accused and The Great North, sit at the bottom of the network's 2024-25 season rankings. Animated comedy The Great North also is expected to be canceled once its current fifth season ends later this month. As for anthology Accused, developed and executive produced by Howard Gordon, it might come back in the future for a limited run as an event, Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television Network, said last month. RELATED: 'We love the show and Howard Gordon,' he said. 'As you know, it's anthological, which means it doesn't have the same timetable on renewals as shows that have locked casts. And so right now, we're talking with Howard if there's an opportunity down the line to eventize a return, something that can really work for us and Howard, we'd love to do it. Right now. there's no plan, but there could be down the line.' All four series are Fox Entertainment co-productions with outside lead studios, Warner Bros. TV (The Cleaning Lady), Sony Pictures TV (Alert, Accused) and 20th Television Animation (The Great North). With Sony TV, Fox also has its breakout new medical drama series Doc, which is coming back in the fall for a 22-episode season; Warner Bros. TV is behind Fox's upcoming thriller drama Memory of a Killer. According to sources, Fox explored continuing Alert, possibly with some retooling, as the network brass liked Scott Caan as a leading man and the show's evolution into a buddy-cop show. Ultimately, the ratings were not there. RELATED: The Cleaning Lady, headlined by Élodie Yung, underwent creative retooling heading into this season after the series faced the tragic loss of its male lead Adan Canto to cancer. The drama never regained its footing but maintained a passionate core fan base that is left with loose ends and unresolved issues in the Season 4 finale. Alert: Missing Persons Unit is set in the Philadelphia Police Department's Missing Persons Unit. Each episode featured a search for a missing person headed by detectives Jason Grant (Caan) and Nikki Batista (Dania Ramirez). Together with the MPU team, their job is to find the missing or abducted and reunite them with their loved ones. Adeola Role, Ryan Broussard and Alisha-Marie Ahamed also starred. Carla Kettner served as showrunner and executive producer, with Jon Cowan, Brandon Sonnier, Brandon Margolis, Sean Hennen, John Eisendrath, Jamie Foxx, Datari Turner and Brad Turner also executive producing. RELATED: The Cleaning Lady, the first Southeast Asian-led broadcast drama, centers on Thony De La Rosa (Yung), a Cambodian-Filipino former surgeon who makes a living as a cleaning service worker alongside her sister-in-law, Fiona (Martha Millan). After witnessing a murder, Thony is offered a job both as a cleaner and a doctor within a criminal organization that could pay well enough to help her son and her family. Kate Del Castillo, Santiago Cabrera, Sean Lew, Faith Bryant, and Khalen Roman Sanchez also starred in the series, based on an Argentine format, which was developed for American television by Miranda Kwok.
