East Rochester man charged in deadly hit-and-run crash
Authorities have charged 51-year-old Bruce Bugbee of East Rochester in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash in Rochester on Friday.
Rochester police said that Bugbee struck a man in his 60s on a bicycle with a 2019 Chevy Silverado before fleeing the scene. According to police, Bugbee was allegedly driving while intoxicated, with a child in the vehicle at the time.
The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. on Friday at the intersection of Norton Street and North Street, police said.
New York State Police later located Bugbee and the Silverado at a residence in Ontario County, police said.
Bugbee was taken to the Monroe County Jail and is facing charges including second-degree vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident causing death, aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra's Law, and driving while intoxicated.
The victim's identity has not yet been released.

North Carolina trio steals $32K worth of lawnmowers from Eureka Dicky Bubb
ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Two men and a woman from North Carolina have been charged for allegedly stealing six lawnmowers from a Dicky Bubb Farm and Home in Eureka, Missouri. According to court documents, Devon Reid, 27; Roberts Knotts, 36; and Angel Williams, 29, stole $34,244 worth of lawnmowers from Dicky Bubb, located at 100 Hilltop Village Center, on April 11. The store manager told police the zero turn riding lawnmowers had been stolen in the early hours of the morning after watching surveillance video of Reid and Knotts allegedly cutting the lawnmowers loose and taking them between 2:40 and 3:30 a.m. 8-year-old injured in Baden shooting; 1 man dead Court documents said they were accompanied by Williams earlier in the day around 5 p.m. at the same store to purchase multiple chainsaws and one zero-turn lawn mower. Surveillance video showed the three suspects verbally giving the clerk multiple credit card numbers to purchase the items; some of the cards were declined. The Eureka Police Department reports two credit cards were fraudulently used to purchase the items, totaling nearly $8,000. After the transaction, the three suspects were seen leaving the store in a Chevy Silverado pickup truck, which was the same vehicle used in the early hours of April 11 to steal the additional lawnmowers. A large U-Haul was also seen attached to the Chevy truck, which police said was rented in Fenton, Missouri. Police reviewed surveillance video from the U-Haul that confirmed it was Reid and Knotts seen at Dicky Bubb's the next morning. The Chevy and U-Haul were later tracked arriving in Gastonia, North Carolina, a few days later. The Gastonia Police Department contacted Williams at her home, where the same U-Haul trailer was found. Police contacted a victim who purchased one of the stolen lawnmowers and said the transaction took place at William's home. Reid, Knotts, and Williams have all been charged with one count of stealing $25,000 or more and two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card. All three suspects are still at large. Virginia man arrested on illegal weapons charges in Steuben County
ERWIN, N.Y. (WETM) — A Virginia man was arrested in June on illegal weapons charges after an incident in the Town of Erwin, according to a release from the New York State Police. Clarence J. Payton, 30, of Virginia, was arrested on Thursday, June 5, on several felony charges including: Criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree: loaded firearm, not in home/business, a class C felony. Criminal possession of a firearm, a class C felony. Two counts of unlawful possession of certain ammunition feeding devices, not in the home, a class B misdemeanor. Police investigating gunshot after overnight incident in Elmira Payton was arrested after an incident inside a home on Thursday where troopers said Payton was asked to leave the residence and reportedly had a gun. Troopers found Payton at the home and saw he had a pistol and an additional extended magazine. It was later learned that Payton did not have a valid New York State pistol permit. The following items were taken from Payton: Clock 17 pistol Two Glock-17 magazines One KCI USA 33-round magazine Various 9mm Luger ammunition Payton was arrested on the charges and taken to the state police barracks for processing before he was moved to the Steuben County Jail for further proceedings. New York State trooper launched over guardrail after semi-truck plowed into patrol car during traffic stop on Thruway
A New York State trooper was seriously injured when a semi-truck plowed into his parked patrol car on the side of a busy upstate highway – obliterating the cruiser and sending the cop flying over a guardrail, police said. The freakish incident unfolded around 12:39 p.m. Friday as the trooper was conducting a traffic stop on the New York State Thruway in Schenectady County, just 25 miles southwest of Albany. The trailer-less tractor was traveling westbound on Interstate 90 when it slammed into the squad car, according to state police, which shared startling images of the collision. 4 The collision obliterated the New York State Police cruiser Friday afternoon. New York State Police/Facebook Police said the impact hurled the trooper, who was standing on the passenger side of a Honda Odyssey involved in the traffic stop, over the metal barrier and tumbling down an embankment. 'The incident is a powerful reminder: New York's Move Over Law is not optional,' police said, referring to a state law that requires motorists to slow down and shift lanes when a vehicle is stopped on an Empire State roadway. 4 The disastrous incident occurred on the New York State Thruway while the trooper was conducting a traffic stop.
