Claressa Shields vs. Lani Daniels: Predictions, odds, how to watch Saturday's bout
Shields currently has an undefeated record of 16 wins and 0 losses, which includes three knockouts. This will be her second fight of 2025, following her victory over Danielle Perkins in February. After that fight, the Michigan Unarmed Combat Commission tested Shields and mistakenly reported a false-positive marijuana test, resulting in a one-month suspension. However, the commission ultimately determined it was a "procedural error," and Shields has since been cleared of any wrongdoing.
Daniels currently has a record of 11 wins, 2 losses, and 2 draws. This will be Daniels' first fight of 2025, and she last fought in September 2024, when she successfully defended her IBF Light Heavyweight title against Bolatito Oluwole. Facing Shields will undoubtedly be Daniels' biggest fight of her career so far and the first time she has ever fought outside of New Zealand.

Claressa Shields vs. Lani Daniels predictions
Staff writes: "Perkins comes into the bout looking to play spoiler. The 42-year-old will be the biggest opponent that Shields has seen in the ring, but is still considered to be a massive underdog."
Apratim Banerjee writes: "Claressa Shields is certainly the more decorated athlete heading into the contest and she is the favorite for a reason. However, Shields is making a jump to heavyweight. That said, Danielle Perkins is naturally a heavyweight and could have the strength and weight advantage over Shields, making her chances interesting. However, Shields is too experienced and crafty and should be able to manage a decision win against Perkins. A finish looks unlikely to take place."
Staff writes: "Shields is the more polished boxer and will control the pace of the fight. She will force Daniels on her back foot right from the opening bell. Her accurate jabs will prevent her opponent from gaining any kind of momentum. Shields will also target Daniels' body to limit her movement inside the ring."

Will Claressa Shields Vs. Laila Ali Ever Happen?
For years now, there has been a competitive rivalry between two of women's boxing greats in Claressa Shields and Laila Ali. Ali is a 2021 inductee into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Her career boasts an undefeated record after 24 fights. Of those bouts, she has 21 knockouts. In Ali's day, she was nothing to snooze at. Hell, she was the furthest thing to snooze at. And up until recent years, no one would rival such greatness. What's in a name? When it comes to Shields, she has been making her way for years. With a professional record of 16-0, she's seeking to give her self-proclaimed nickname legitimacy as the 'Greatest Woman of All-Time' (G.W.O.A.T). For these two ladies, their relationship began as a mentor-mentee type deal. The two began as very complimentary of one another. However, a 2019 The Breakfast Club interview with Ali changed everything. She said, 'I don't think there's anyone there for me that would give me a good challenge.' Shields took exception to that notion, especially after her gold medal success in the most recent Olympics at the time. Since those comments, Shields has made it her point to not only win her fights but also become a box office attraction for women's boxing. She is as charming as she is strong in the ring. With that type of quality, she seeks to sell her fights in ways that women just haven't before. Most recently, Ali was asked once again whether or not she would take on Shields in a match. She responded, saying, 'Unless somebody has $15-$20 million, don't even call me about this.' A few days later, Shields seemingly called Ali's bluff, producing a video in which she presented a check for $15 million to pay Ali to sign on to fight her. The business of boxing Now, as a marketing ploy, I find this to be genius! The G.W.O.A.T is obviously promoting herself through this. But with athletes having the ego that they do, fans have to wonder, 'Will Ali take the bait?' At 47, Ali is 17 years Shields' senior. From an athletic standpoint, we're fine to assume that Ali won't be what she once was. However, there's always that possibility that for one night, she can be. That's the type of selling point you can have for such a generational fight such as this. If Shields can back up all of her smack talk, she will be known to be someone who was never writing checks her fists couldn't cash. As I enjoy saying, I see the vision. Do I think this fight will actually happen? I do. We've seen crazier things happen. So, if that $15 million is legit, you absolutely have to consider it from Ali's side. If this does go down, it's bound to be the biggest women's combat fight of all time. With that potential riding on it, I ask this: Why not?The post Will Claressa Shields Vs. Claressa Shields unanimously outpoints Lani Daniels in Detroit bout, defends heavyweight belts
Claressa Shields unanimously outpointed Lani Daniels on Saturday night, successfully defending all her belts as the first undisputed heavyweight champion in women's boxing. The 30-year-old Shields, a two-time Olympic champion, improved to 17-0 in front of 15,366 fans at Little Caesars Arena. The 36-year-old Daniels, the IBF light heavyweight champion, dropped to 11-3-2. She had won seven in a row. Former super-welterweight champion Tony Harrison beat Edward Diaz of the Dominican Republic by unanimous decision after being knocked down in the ninth round of the 10-round fight. Harrison, who is from Detroit, improved to 30-4-1 in his first fight since losing his belt to Tim Tszyu more than 10 years ago. In the main event, Daniels danced and shuffled along the ropes for two rounds to stay away from Shields, who was patient until unleashing a flurry of combinations late in both rounds. Daniels didn't run in the following rounds — and Shields took advantage with punishing blows to the body and head. Daniels fought for the first time outside of her native New Zealand and was not welcomed in the Motor City, where Shields is a fan favorite. Shields, elected to the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame on Friday, has revived big-time boxing in Detroit. The city with a rich history in the sport that includes Joe Louis, Sugar Ray Robinson and Thomas Hearns went decades without relevant fights. The Red Wings and Pistons moved into Little Caesars Arena in 2017, but the arena didn't have a boxing card until 2023 when Shields was the headliner and beat Maricela Cornejo. Shields was back at Little Caesars Arena last summer, knocking out WBC heavyweight champion Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse in front of about 12,000 fans and she drew a bigger crowd in her latest Earlier this month, Katie Taylor beat Amanda Serrano for the third time in front of a sold-out crowd of more than 19,000 at Madison Square Garden in New York in the arena's first all-women's card. Shields won gold medals at 165 pounds at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, making her the first boxer from the United States to win consecutive Olympic medals. Professionally, she has earned titles in five divisions from 154 to 200 pounds. Note: The video above originally aired June 11, 2025.
