Draymond Green named Western Conference's Defensive Player of the Month for March
The Golden State Warriors' defensive anchor has earned some well-deserved hardware for his performance during the month of March. On Tuesday, veteran forward Draymond Green was named Defensive Player of the Month for the Western Conference.
During March, Green averaged 1.9 steals and 0.9 blocks for the Warriors. During March, Green has back-to-back games with five blocks and four blocks. Green has two or more steals in nine different games during the month.
According to a press release from the Warriors, Golden State led the NBA in steals during the month of March with 9.9 steals per contest while also posting the second-best defensive rating in the Western Conference at 109.7, trailing only the Oklahoma City Thunder.
March marked the first time Green has earned the NBA's new Defensive Player of the Month award. For the Eastern Conference, Atlanta Hawks wing Dyson Daniels earned Defensive Player of the Month.
Over his 12-year NBA campaign, Green has earned NBA All-Defensive Team honors eight different times and was named Defensive Player of the Year for the 2016-17 season.
Along with Cleveland's Evan Mobley and Atlanta's Daniels, Green is considered a candidate for the 2024-25 edition of the Defensive Player of the Year award. A newly-minted Defensive Player of the Month award should help bolster Green's already compelling DPOY campaign.

Is there a case to be made for hanging onto Boston Celtics big man Kristaps Porzingis?
Is there a case to be made for hanging onto Boston Celtics big man Kristaps Porzingis? The Latvian center has been the first player brought up as a potential trade chip in the Celtics likely quest to get under the second apron to avoid the harsh penalties created by the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) to break up expensive teams like Boston. But there are other ways to pull such a goal off besides trading away Porzingis for whatever the team can do it with, perhaps even requiring some assets to get off his deal despite it being a large expiring contract in a cap-starved league. What options does Boston have where they would not deal away KP before the end of the next NBA regular season? Advertisement The host of the CLNS Media "You Got Boston" podcast, Noa Dalzell, linked up with Spotrac cap guru Keith Smith to talk it over. Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say about the case for hanging onto KP. Ja Morant's Gesture Toward LeBron James Turns Heads on Tuesday
Ja Morant's Gesture Toward LeBron James Turns Heads on Tuesday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Ja Morant's 2024-25 NBA season with the Memphis Grizzlies was marked by injuries and team struggles. Despite having an impressive season overall, Morant was limited to 50 games due to various ailments, averaging 23.2 points, 7.3 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game. Advertisement However, he still managed to lead the Grizzlies to the eight seed, although the team's championship hopes were dashed in the first round, as they lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder in four games, with Morant suffering a hip injury in Game 3. Following the disappointing season, speculation about Morant's future with the Grizzlies intensified, with fans and some analysts wondering if he could be moved. A clip shared by Bleacher Report has been gaining traction on social media. The video showed Morant being offered a shot of James' tequila brand, Lobos 1707. Advertisement In response, Morant humorously mispronounced James' name as "LeeBron" before mimicking some of LeBron's iconic quotes, including "It's our ball. It ain't our ball... Akron, this is for you!" Fans wasted no time responding to the trending clip: "Ja really got that LeBron in him," one fan wrote. "Twin just like me 😭🤣," another fan posted. "Luka would have to disable his Instagram if he took a shot in public," another fan noted. 'Has anyone tried it? Is it actually good?" another fan questioned "Ja showing love to Akron like a boss with that Lobos mention," another fan added. 'They lit for sure,' a fan included. Lakers Receive Bad News After NBA Trade Report
Lakers Receive Bad News After NBA Trade Report originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Los Angeles Lakers have many questions to answer in the offseason, following a first-round exit in the 2025 NBA Playoffs. The Lakers, looking to return next season as title contenders will need to improve their rotation. A primary focus is acquiring a dominant big man to complement a roster that already features superstars Luka Doncic and LeBron James. Advertisement A glaring need for the Lakers is the addition of a rim-protecting center who can serve as a lob threat and provide physicality in the paint. The team's recent playoff performance against the Minnesota Timberwolves revealed the absence of such a presence, prompting the Lakers' front office to prioritize this position in their offseason plans. Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert (27) gets the rebound against Lakers guard Austin Reaves (15) and forward LeBron James (23).Gary A. Vasquez-Imagn Images One name that has emerged as a potential fit for the Lakers is the Houston Rockets center Steven Adams. Known for his elite offensive rebounding and physical style of play, Adams projects as a natural candidate to fill the Lakers' void in the frontcourt. However, the Lakers' potential pursuit of Adams has encountered a significant hurdle. According to a new report, the Rockets have identified Adams as their top priority among their impending free agents, and are operating with the belief he can be extended. Advertisement According to Kelly Iko of the Athletic, 'Veterans Steven Adams, Jeff Green and Jae'Sean Tate will be unrestricted free agents as of June 30 — but of the trio, Adams is seen as the clear priority… Adams, who earned $12.6 million last season, would be a natural fit for teams such as San Antonio, New York, Indiana and both Los Angeles organizations. But the Rockets are operating under the assumption Adams wants to return — and will continue to speak with his representation about a possible extension' Assuming the Lakers truly do covet Adams, this latest report is bad news for them. Adams finished the 2024-25 season, averaging 3.9 points and 5.7 rebounds, while playing backup to starting center Alperen Sengun. His veteran presence played a key role in helping a young Rockets squad clinch the second seed in the Western Conference. With Adams potentially off the market, the Lakers will focus on exploring alternative avenues to address their need for a big man. The team's front office is expected to evaluate all possibilities to ensure they secure a player who can contribute immediately and enhance their championship aspirations.
