Oman launches 'Aman, campaign to mark World Day Against Trafficking in Persons
The commemoration of the event is in line with Oman Vision 2040, which focuses on consolidating the values of justice and fairness, upgrading the system of social protection and fostering the rule of law.
'Aman', a 3-month national awareness campaign, was launched by the 'National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking'.
The campaign aims to promote a culture of crime prevention and support for crime victims, as part of relevant local and international institutional cooperation.
The launch ceremony was held under the auspices of Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs (Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking).
In a speech on behalf of the National Committee, Dr. Ahmed Talib Al Jabri, Assistant Attorney General (Deputy Chairman of the National Commmittee to Combat Human Trafficking), said that the launch of 'Aman' caps up the Sultanate of Oman's stance in the face of human trafficking and represents the integrated roles of security, judicial, legislative and humanitarian institutions.
The slogan of the campaign embodies a sincere call to every human being and expresses the Sultanate of Oman's commitment in line with international standards, he said.
Al Jabri added that Oman's action this year marks a milestone in the fight against human trafficking, in terms of intensification of investigations, prompt judicial proceedings and greater transparency about related arrests and convictions. He explained that the Sultanate of Oman is in the process of promulgating a new law that keeps pace with updates and reflects the evolution of the legal system (on combating human trafficking).
For his part, Maj. Khalid Ali Tabuk, Assistant Director of the Department of Combating Human Trafficking at the Royal Oman Police (ROP), presented a working paper that outlined the tasks of the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking and the ROP's role in discovering victims of human trafficking. He cited various cases of human trafficking crimes tackled by the ROP, as well as means of reporting such crimes.

"Safe Investment Environment" meeting discusses developing business environment in Dhofar
Salalah: An introductory meeting titled "Safe Investment Environment" was held on Monday in the Wilayat of Salalah in Dhofar Governorate. Organised by the Public Prosecution and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), the event aimed to enhance the business environment through integrated institutional efforts and to establish principles of transparency and legal compliance. This is meant to contribute to creating a safe and attractive investment environment. The meeting was attended by a number of ministers and officials, members of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Board of Directors, investors, business owners, company representatives, and those interested in legal and economic affairs. Nasr Khamis Al Sawai, the Public Prosecutor, explained that the Public Prosecution seeks to expand its partnership with national institutions to spread legal awareness within the private sector and protect the business environment from any unlawful practices. This, he noted, strengthens justice and enhances economic stability. Faisal Abdullah Al Rowas, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Board of Directors, affirmed that the meeting is part of a strategic partnership with the Public Prosecution to enhance a legislative environment that stimulates investment in Oman and supports efforts to attract local and foreign capital. Naif Hamed Fadhil, Head of the Chamber's branch in Dhofar Governorate, pointed out that the meeting serves as a platform for institutional dialogue on ways to develop the investment environment in the governorate. He affirmed that Dhofar is rich with promising potential, making it an attractive destination for investors in various sectors. Assistant Public Prosecutor Khalfan Said Al Maawali presented a working paper that reviewed criminal liability under the Commercial Companies Law, the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Law, and the compliance mechanisms that companies must adhere to. The meeting included a dialogue session with the Public Prosecutor and the Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The session addressed key legislative challenges facing the private sector and discussed practical proposals for developing the legal environment and boosting Oman's investment appeal. This meeting is part of a series of initiatives aimed at embedding the principles of governance and transparency and strengthening institutional partnership. This aligns with the aspirations of Oman Vision 2040 to empower the private sector and support the national business environment.

Forum discusses key issues related to labour market developments and future skills
Salalah: A forum titled 'Future of Work' kicked off on Monday at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Compound for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah. The two-day event, held as part of the Labour Forum organised by the Directorate General of Labour in Dhofar Governorate, saw a large turnout of experts and specialists from the Sultanate of Oman and GCC states. The forum seeks to promote cross-sectoral dialogue, exchange expertise and successful practices and devise evidence-based future visions to support employment programmes and human capital development in line with the goals of Oman Vision 2040. It also keeps pace with GCC states' approaches to achieve sustainable economic and social development. The forum's programme included dialogue sessions and workshops focusing on key issues related to labour market developments and future skills. The first session included three working papers on economic developments, future of work prospects and employment policies in a changing world. The second session dealt with economic developments and future skills in GCC states. It included research papers on the governance of the work leadership's system, forecasting skills needed to achieve development goals, policies of education, and the development of skills in a manner that supports the sustainability of labour markets. The forum constituted a strategic dialogue platform that contributes to discussing the future of employment and skills development, enhancing the readiness of labour markets in GCC states to address global challenges and supporting efforts to build sustainable and competitive economies.
