Ski jumping's suit-cheating saga rolls on as 5 Norwegians are charged over ‘manipulation'
The FIS said Monday that star ski jumpers Marius Lindvik and Johann André Forfang, two coaches and a member of the service staff were charged under ethics and competition rules following an investigation into 'equipment manipulation.'
The allegations first emerged around the world championships in Norway in March and shook the tight-knit ski jumping community. Illegally modified suits could help athletes to fly further.
The charges come six months before the Winter Olympics. FIS said its ethics committee will rule on the charges and could impose bans or fines. It didn't say how soon a ruling is expected.
FIS said the investigation conducted 38 witness interviews and examined 88 pieces of evidence, and that no one else will be charged in the case.
FIS has already tightened up its rules on ski jump suits, something which caused a spate of disqualifications when athletes gathered for the first competition of the new season Saturday. FIS said that was down to technical issues and it didn't suspect 'ill intent.'

Prosecutors had earlier requested sentences up to 131 years for some of those convicted, who were all former government workers, including several whose duties included protecting children. On March 8, 2017, a girl at the Virgen de la Asuncion Safe Home 14 miles east of Guatemala City, lit a foam mattress on fire in the room where a group of girls had been locked up for hours without access to a bathroom. Smoke and flames quickly filled the room killing 41 girls and injuring 15. About 700 children — nobody knew exactly how many — lived in a home with a maximum capacity for 500. The majority had committed no crime. They were sent there by the courts for various reasons — they had run away, they were abused, they were migrants. The night before the fire, a group of girls had escaped. Hours later, the police returned them to the home. They were locked in a room that had no access to a bathroom and guarded by police. They were given foam mattresses to sleep on. After demanding for hours to be let out, a girl lit a mattress that quickly filled the room with smoke. Former Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin makes his next move, this time to Mexico
MEXICO CITY (AP) — Allan Saint-Maximin's wide-ranging career is taking him to Mexico. The former Newcastle winger signed a contract with Club America, the top-tier Mexican team said Tuesday. The 28-year-old Saint-Maximin arrives in the Liga MX after a one-year stint with Turkey's Fenerbahce where he played on loan from Saudi Arabia's Al Ahli. America, the winningest club in Mexico with 16 league titles, did not disclose further details about the contract. Local media reported a two-year deal worth around $10 million. Saint-Maximin is the second French player to play for Club America. Jeremy Menez, who won the Apertura 2018 championship with the club, was the first. The most successful French player in Mexican league history is Andre-Pierre Gignac, who has won five league titles with the UANL Tigres and scored 209 goals in all competitions since arriving in Mexico in 2015. Saint-Maximin, a former France youth international, debuted with Saint-Etienne in his home country, moved to Monaco and Nice, and in 2019 to Newcastle in the Premier League, where he spent four seasons.
