Man Tries To Relax on Lake Float—but He Has Two Golden Retrievers

With golden retrievers, relaxation can be an elusive thing. That didn't stop one man online from trying, though.
His afternoon enjoying a peaceful float on a lake was hilariously interrupted by his two devoted goldens, whose unwavering loyalty—and perhaps a touch of "fear of missing out"—prompted an impromptu "rescue" mission. The adorable scene, captured in a viral TikTok video, has gone viral with over 2.7 million views.
"'Spotted: Dad alone. On float. Without us. He looks like he needs us. Does he even have snacks? We must go rescue,'" the creator captioned the video, imagining the dogs' inner dialogue. "'Emotional support en route. Target acquired … Backup has arrived … no man left behind. No raft left afloat.'"
One by one, the dogs plunged into the water, swimming toward their owner. The first golden retriever reached the inflatable and clambered aboard with a splash, followed shortly by its equally determined sibling. The result? A deflating inflatable and a man now submerged under the weight of two very loving, but heavy, golden retrievers.
The creator's page says the goldens, named Whaler and Flapjack, adore swimming. "If there's water, we're in it," the profile reads.
Internet viewers quickly fell in love with the dogs' earnest, if misguided, heroism in the video. TikTok users flooded the comments with laughter and relatable stories.
"'Dad looks like he's resting peacefully! Must change that!'" one commenter added.
"Lovely," another wrote. "How could anyone beat the love these guys have for their human?"

Many viewers found humor in the dogs' single-minded focus on their owner—even at the expense of his relaxation: "Dad probably been out there since morning coffee trying to get some … peaceful sunlight," one person posted.
The canines' approach to the "rescue" was also a source of amusement. "The funniest part was the first mud trail. Golden one has a visual on the target and has engaged. Golden two sweeping in for clean-up," a commenter said.
Some viewers offered practical advice, suggesting ways to ensure the dogs' safety during their water adventures.
"You should get them life jackets," one wrote. "I had one and it made my parents feel so much better and I got to swim for longer!"
These golden retrievers, known for their friendly and loyal nature, seem to fully embody the spirit of "no man left behind"—even if it means sacrificing their human's peaceful float.

Parsons is entering the final year of his rookie contract and has seen the likes of TJ Watt, Maxx Crosby and Myles Garrett get paid big money, yet is still awaiting an agreement for himself. While fans continue waiting for Parsons' contract, Ferguson's was still well earned as he has been a top target for quarterback Dak Prescott the past two seasons. 4 Jake Ferguson is entering his fourth NFL season with the Cowboys. Jamie Lee Curtis is ‘prepping' to leave Hollywood as she slams plastic surgery as ‘genocide'
Her Friday is getting freaky. Jamie Lee Curtis said she's preparing to leave the spotlight – in part thanks to her experience of watching her famous parents' careers as they aged, and thanks to watching plastic surgery take off. 'I witnessed my parents lose the very thing that gave them their fame and their life and their livelihood, when the industry rejected them at a certain age,' Curtis, 66, told The Guardian, in an interview published Saturday. The 'Halloween' star's famous parents were Janet Leigh – who was in Alfred Hitchcock's 'Psycho,' and Tony Curtis ('Some Like It Hot'). Leigh died in 2004 at age 77, while her dad died in 2010 at age 85. They were married from 1951 until their 1962 divorce. Curtis also slammed plastic surgery as being 'the genocide of a generation of women by the cosmeceutical industrial complex, who've disfigured themselves.' Advertisement 'The Last Showgirl' actress has been married to British actor Christopher Guest since 1984, and shares daughters Ruby, 29, and Annie, 38, with him. 'I believe that we have wiped out a generation or two of natural human [appearance],' she explained. The minute I lay a filter on and you see the before and after, it's hard not to go: 'Oh, well that looks better.' But what's better? Better is fake.' Curtis did not name names of celebs who have admitted to getting plastic surgery, such as the Kardashians. 'There are too many examples – I will not name them – but very recently we have had a big onslaught through media, many of those people,' she stated. Despite her plans to step back from the spotlight, Curtis still has a recent slew of hot projects, as well as upcoming movies and TV shows. She finally won an Oscar in 2024 (for 'best supporting actress' in 'Everything Everywhere All At Once'), and has a recurring side role as Carmy's (Jeremy Allen White) mother in the Emmy-winning drama 'The Bear,' which has been renewed for a Season 5. 9 Jamie Lee Curtis in 'Halloween II' in 1981. ©Universal/Courtesy Everett Collection 9 Jamie Lee Curtis at the Cannes Film Festival on.
