drone attacks
, which were used extensively by Islamabad in its response to
Operation Sindoor
launched against terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, a top
defence expert
said on Friday.
Pakistan had sent swarms of drones and loitering munitions to counter India's air strikes on terror infrastructure across the border to avenge the terrorist attacks on tourists in Pahalgam.

Lt Gen Khandare (retd) said neither the Indian Army nor the Indian Air Force pilots crossed the border during Operation Sindoor, but were still successful in causing devastation on identified targets inside Pakistan.

He, however, said the emerging use of technology in warfare does not diminish the importance of having "boots on the ground".
"The Army will continue to do its land operations. You can keep punching somebody, but unless you go and stand on his (enemy) ground, it is not yours. So boots on the ground will determine who owns that particular area," Lt Gen Khandare (retd) said.
"That is the leverage that will happen subsequently. If you do not go and capture that land you will have a defeated country promoting somebody as Field Marshal," he added.
"As we strive toward the vision of Viksit Bharat, it is equally important to ensure Surakshit Bharat so balancing development with deterrence is essential to maintaining our national momentum and safeguarding our trajectory in the face of evolving global dynamics whether it's the integration of tri-services or broader national-level frameworks, space domain is becoming indispensable across all domains civil, military, and strategic," Lt Gen Khandare (retd) said.

Gupta emphasised govt's commitment to strengthening public transport and building a cleaner, greener and more connected capital. "We promised to modernise every bus depot and terminus in Delhi, and construct new ones to ensure seamless, safe and widespread transport access. Today's terminus and Devi buses stand testimony to that commitment." She added that the Rs 2.63-crore depot was completed in just 90 days, reflecting govt's efficiency and dedication. Highlighting how routes were reduced, per-kilometre costs inflated and thousands of DTC employees were rendered jobless earlier, Gupta claimed, "The previous govts were more focused on profit than performance. For the first time, Delhi has a govt that values work over money." She said the goal was to convert 100% of Delhi's public transport fleet to electric, reducing pollution and providing safe, comfortable and eco-friendly travel options. 1 2 Nagpur: Even as residents across Nagpur continue to suffer from dismal water supply — with pressure as low as 1 to 2 metres in several areas as against required 12–16 metres — Orange City Water Pvt Ltd (OCW) reportedly skipped a high-level review meeting chaired by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis recently. The firm's no-show, despite a formal invite from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation's (NMC) water works department, has further angered senior leadership and is being seen as an act of defiance. TOI earlier reported that Fadnavis directed NMC to begin the process to terminate OCW's contract. A senior civic official confirmed that the order is now being legally vetted to ensure it stands if challenge. "This time, the termination is being done formally and our legal team is involved to avoid any procedural flaws," the official said. Union minister Nitin Gadkari, present at Sunday's meeting, came down heavily on OCW's longstanding failures, particularly its refusal to increase water pressure. "OCW is supplying water at barely 1–2 metres pressure in many areas. The OCW claims pipelines will burst if pressure is raised to the required 12–16 metres. Large parts of North and East Nagpur continue to suffer, with water being supplied for just 2–3 hours daily. Many localities remain dependent on water tankers. NMC had asked OCW to convert low-pressure "red zones" into "green zones" by fixing leakages, removing illegal connections, and deploying real-time pressure monitoring systems. However, there has been negligible progress. OCW's absence from the CM's review meet has only hardened the administration's stance. "The OCW was informed and expected to attend. Absence of anyone from the OCW at this crucial juncture is unacceptable and only justifies the need for its removal," said another senior official. Superintending engineer (water works) Shweta Banerjee confirmed that OCW officials were invited for the meeting, but none was present. OCW officials were not available for comments. AP high court grants interim protection to Jagan, others in culpable homicide case
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh high court on Friday granted interim protection to former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and others, directing the police not to take coercive steps, including arrest, in relation to the case registered over the death of one Ch Singaiah. The court also asked the advocate general to explain how can the passengers in a vehicle be held responsible for an untoward incident that resulted in the death of a person. Guntur police registered a case against Jagan, his PA K Naheswara Reddy, former ministers Vidadala Rajini and Perni Venkatramaiah, and former TTD chairman Y V Subba Reddy, charging them with culpable homicide not amounting to murder under section 105 of BNS, after videos surfaced suggesting Singaiah was mowed down by the vehicle in which they were travelling. Jagan and others moved the high court seeking to quash the case registered against them. Arguing on behalf of the petitioners, senior counsels Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy and S Sriram submitted that the police initially declared that another vehicle was responsible for the incident in question and registered a case under section 106 of BNS for rash and negligent driving. Considering the submissions of the petitioners, Justice K Srinivas Reddy asked advocate general Dammalapati Srinivas to explain how can the passengers in a vehicle involved in an accident could be made accused. Responding to the query, Srinivas said the incident in question cannot be seen as any other incident of rash and negligent driving. The advocate general said there was sufficient material to suggest that the petitioners, despite having knowledge of the incident, did not inform the police or take remedial measures to rescue the victim. Instead, they tried to cover up by giving the impression that some other vehicle was involved in the incident. He further stated that the authorities had given limited permission for three vehicles and 100 persons to visit Rentapalla, but hundreds of vehicles and thousands of people gathered and conducted a rally in utter disregard of the law enforcement agencies. Even after the incident took place, the petitioners did not bother to call for an ambulance or inform the police but continued with the rally, he said. Srinivas said all these things are to be seen together, not in isolation. If it had been a politically motivated case, as alleged by the petitioners, the police would have registered cases into three other deaths that occurred on the same day due to the rally. The reason for the registration of the case in question was based on available material, he said, adding that the investigation is still at a nascent stage and sought time till Tuesday so that he can submit all details pertaining to the case. Considering the submissions on both sides, Justice Reddy posted the matter for further hearing to July 1 and directed the police not to take coercive steps till then.
