Bomb hoax at schools sparks panic, outrage
2
Kolkata: Emails threatening that bombs were planted at two reputable English medium schools — one at Calcutta Boys' School in Moulali and another at Calcutta International School in Anandapur — on Wednesday led cops to carry out extensive searches at the schools.
The threat was declared a hoax after thorough searches, which included even adjoining buildings.
A Kolkata Police STF official stated that the bomb squad and the dog squad, along with cops, carried out a full check at the schools but found nothing. This time, the emails stated a blast would occur post-2 pm, marking the sixth time such emails were sent to institutes this year.
"Around noon, we received a message asking us to come to the school, saying there was a security threat and that we needed to collect our wards from school.
I found my daughter waiting in the school grounds, and the evacuation was extremely smooth," said the parent of a Calcutta International School's student.

One teacher of the Calcutta Boys' School said, "After we got the email, our first priority was to shift our students to a safe place. The bomb squad, along with sniffer dogschecked every corner. After that, students were dispersed from the school so that they wouldn't panic."
Multiple educational institutes in the city and at least two universities, even the SSKM (IPGMER), both govt and private ones located in Kolkata and suburbs, have received multiple bomb threats in the past few months.
