PDRM deploys 40 personnel to monitor ‘Demi Zara' rally in Kuala Lumpur
Dang Wangi police chief ACP Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman confirmed security personnel will be stationed around the rally site.
'So far, there have been no road closures or diversions, but this will depend on the situation. PDRM will facilitate the rally participants in accordance with the provisions of the law,' he said in a statement today.
Zara Qairina Mahathir, 13, was found unconscious in a drain near her school dormitory in Papar on July 16.
She was later pronounced dead at Queen Elizabeth I Hospital in Kota Kinabalu on July 17.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar stated the case is now being probed for possible criminal elements, including bullying.
The Attorney General's Chambers has ordered an inquest into Zara Qairina's death after reviewing PDRM's investigation report. - Bernama

LARUT: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed that those responsible for the death of Form One student Zara Qairina Mahathir will be brought to justice, stressing that no individual involved will be allowed to escape accountability. The project, approved in 2016 with a total cost of RM91mil, is being carried out by the Public Works Department (JKR) through conventional consultancy, involving the construction of a 6.6km-long new road. It is expected to benefit more than 5,000 residents in the surrounding areas and have a positive impact on agriculture and plantation enterprises along the route, besides improving accessibility and stimulating local economic growth. To date, the project, which is scheduled for full completion on Aug 15, 2026, has achieved 70.5 per cent progress compared to the original 62.6 per cent, ahead of schedule by 59 days.- Bernama

Lawyers welcome police probe, call for stern action if SOP breached

In a joint statement, the lawyers — Hamid Ismail, Shahlan Jufri, Rizwandean M Borhan, Mohd Luqman Syazwan Zabidi, Mohd Syarulnizam Mohd Salleh and Farrah Nasser — welcomed the disciplinary probe by Bukit Aman's Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS). They said the #JusticeForZara movement, which has gained nationwide support, reflected public concern that proper legal procedures were not observed after Zara's death on 17 July. The legal team urged the Royal Malaysia Police to treat the case as a reminder to ensure all investigations into suspicious deaths are handled with full transparency and in strict compliance with standard operating procedures.
