Mumbai Rain Update and Forecast
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported 114.6 mm rainfall at the Santacruz station, marking the first triple-digit rainfall of the month. In contrast, Colaba received only 11.2 mm, highlighting uneven distribution across the city.
A civic official said the island city received 23.45 mm, eastern suburbs recorded 36.42 mm, and western suburbs got 50.02 mm of rain in the 24 hours ending 8 a.m. Monday.
Commuters Face Morning Rush Delays
Office-goers faced traffic congestion on both the Eastern Express Highway and Western Express Highway. Several local train routes also experienced minor delays, adding to the Monday morning disruptions.
Mumbai Rain IMD Forecast: More Rain and Thunderstorms Likely
The weather department has forecast generally cloudy skies with moderate rain and isolated thunderstorms in the city and suburbs for the next 24 hours. A civic official stated that a high tide of 3.91 metres occurred at 9:19 a.m., with another one of 3.38 metres expected at 8:37 p.m. A low tide of 2.28 metres was expected at 3:03 p.m.
IMD officials said the rainfall is being driven by a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, which is intensifying rainfall along the Maharashtra coast.
While no red alert has been issued, the IMD advised residents to remain cautious, particularly during the evening when more showers are expected.
Mumbai Rain: Airlines Advisory
Airlines operating out of Mumbai have issued travel advisories to passengers amid slow-moving traffic around the airport.

Isolated heavy rainfall has been predicted for Aug 11 and 12. "The upcoming wet phase is being driven by multiple weather systems. The monsoon trough currently stretches from Ferozepur through Karnal, Moradabad, Kheri, and Jalpaiguri to the foothills of Arunachal Pradesh. There's also an upper-air cyclonic circulation over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, hovering at around 1.5km above sea level. In addition, a western disturbance is active over Punjab, with its upper-level trough extending as high as 7.6km," an IMD official said. New Delhi: The city continued to experience a humid day with "feels like" temperature of 44.5 degrees Celsius on Wednesday afternoon. Rains eluded the city for the third day though the IMD predicted light rain in isolated areas over the week with a slight rise in temperature. "The monsoon trough at mean sea level continues to pass through Ferozepur, Karnal, Moradabad, Lakhimpur Kheri, Jalpaiguri, and thence northeastwards to Arunachal Pradesh, close to the foothills of the Himalayas. The trough from central parts of north Uttar Pradesh to northern parts of Kutch across East Rajasthan and north Gujarat between 3.1 and 4.5 km above mean sea level persists," stated IMD. The maximum temperature was recorded 34.8 degrees Celsius while, the minimum temperature was recorded 26.1 degrees Celsius. The humidity oscillated between 60% and 85%. The winds were westerly and south-westerly with a peak wind speed of 11 kmph. Last Updated: New Delhi, Aug 6 (PTI) Delhi on Wednesday recorded a maximum temperature of 34.8 degrees Celsius, 1.4 notches below the seasonal average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The minimum temperature was recorded at 26.1 degrees Celsius, 0.8 degree below the normal, the Met office said. The relative humidity at 8.30 am and 5.30 pm was 80 per cent and 70 per cent, respectively, it said. The IMD has forecast generally cloudy sky with light rain or drizzle for Thursday, with the maximum and minimum temperatures expected to settle around 35 and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively. The air quality was recorded in the 'satisfactory' category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 91 at 4 pm on Wednesday, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed. According to CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.
