Jenna Bush Hager candidly unveils birthmark on live TV after revealing a boy once DUMPED her over it

Daily Mail21-05-2025

Jenna Bush Hager defiantly celebrated her birthmark by revealing it live on air – decades after she was dumped by a boy because of it.
The 43-year-old Today show host had been speaking to Savannah Guthrie on Tuesday's program about the new 'diaper shorts' fashion trend when she got onto the topic of the blemish on her leg.
Before showing off her birthmark, mom-of-three Jenna admitted that she would restrain from wearing shorts that would expose too much of her thigh out so that it would remain hidden.
'I don't know if I ever told you this, but I had a boyfriend who broke up with me in the seventh grade when he saw me in a bathing suit because of my birthmark,' she said.
'That is outrageous,' Savannah, 53, quipped.
Jenna continued: 'I know, it gave me a lot of PTS (post-traumatic stress).
'So then, I had a rule where the shorts had to basically cover the birthmark. So long story short, I couldn't wear the diaper shorts.'
'Have you ever talked about your birthmark before on the air?' Savannah asked, which in turn prompted Jenna to reveal her birthmark to the cameras.
'Okay this is actually me reclaiming that time,' she proudly declared as she jumped out of her seat and rolled up her shorts.
'Never thought I'd do that, but here we go,' she added, before revealing the birthmark on her thigh.
Viewers commended Jenna for celebrating it, while also sharing their own stories.
Commenting on YouTube, one said: 'I have a red birthmark on the back of my neck and I have had rude people snicker and say it's a hickey.
'I used to be so self-conscious about it, but I'm 64 now and I don't care anymore, lol.'
Another said: 'Love that you were proud to show your beautiful birthmark you are beautiful inside and out.'
'I had a birthmark on my hip but as I've gotten older it seems to have faded away,' a third wrote.
After the milestone moment, Savannah complimented her friend.
But Jenna reclaimed her birthmark and lifted her shorts to reveal it in all its glory
'Can I say something?' she said. 'Your legs look awesome.'
'Thank you,' Jenna replied.
A birthmark is a blemish on the skin that is present at birth or develops in the first few weeks of life.
The type of birthmark depends on the main cells involved. Most include melanin collected in one area to create a different color to the rest of the body.
Vascular birthmarks consist of vessels that have not formed properly and can look reddish or blue.
Most birthmarks are caused by a change in a gene during early pregnancy when skin and blood vessels are forming.
Jenna has been married to Henry Hager since 2008 and the couple share three children together - Mila, 13; Poppy, nine; and Hal, five.
She has spoken many times about her ex-boyfriends in past episodes of the Today show, including the painfully awkward moment her parents threw her and her twin sister a surprise birthday – only for her to walk into the event and realize that they'd invited several of her exes.

Amy Poehler makes stark confession about being in the public eye

Amy Poehler may be embracing her age - but she doesn't mind a bit of help from photoshop. The 53-year-old comedian revealed she does not object to a little airbrushing on her photos, sharing her thoughts while talking to Saturday Night Live alum Seth Meyers, 50, on her podcast Good Hang. The duo were talking about when they graced the cover of Entertainment Weekly for SNL's 50th anniversary, admitting it was 'worst photograph' taken of either of them. The pair joked they both have great faces - but only 'as long they are moving.' 'I feel very strongly that the thing we have in common is we have great faces that as long as they're moving,' Meyers joked. Poehler then went on to joke she is now a fan of retouching, sharing her hilarious reaction when she is told her photoshoot snaps may receive a 'light retouch.' 'Light retouch?' she said in disbelief. 'I would say "eyes and a mouth. That's all I want to see."' she joked. 'I want the heaviest retouching you could ever do.' 'Don't feel like you're doing me a courtesy of being like "We barely touched it,"' Meyers agreed. 'I'm like "Go nuts, get your best touch guy in here."' Poehler cheekily added its very in vogue to be 'natural' right now, joking she's 'against that.' 'One hundred percent if you want to see the real thing,' Meyers agreed. 'But otherwise you're getting the retouch.' 'If you're asking me to stay still then we need to paint over. We need to change my nose and everything,' Poehler said. Poehler has previously spoken about the joy of getting older, posting a photo of herself using the 'old age' filter in 2023. The Mean Girls actress simply captioned the picture, 'May I be so lucky.' She previously spoke about finding joy in getting older, telling The Ageist: 'When you get older, one of the sad and hard things about getting older is you have to make room for joy. She continued: 'It doesn't come as naturally as when you're little. So you have to keep making sure you make some room for it..' Meyers and Poehler met working on Saturday Night Live in 2001, and went on to host hosting Weekend Update together. Poehler left SNL in 2008, while Meyers left in 2014 and now hosts Late Night With Seth Meyers. Poehler has had an impressive lineup of guests on her podcast since it launched, including Michelle Obama, Tina Fey, and Jack Black. The comedian revealed the moment that left her red-faced with Michelle on her podcast, explaining it happened when the former First Lady made a cameo on her hit sitcom Parks and Recreation in 2014. She confessed the unfortunate incident to Michelle, 61, herself. 'We were busy. We were hitting a bunch of places that day - you were perfect, you got your line,' Amy told Barack Obama's wife. 'You hit your mark, you said your line and my character Leslie Knope is supposed to be overwhelmed by seeing you and I, Amy Poehler, was also very jazzed and I went to say my line and I drooled,' she recounted, laughing. Michelle also let out a laugh and said she did not remember the incident, with Amy admitting she is 'so glad.' 'I don't know if I saw it,' she reassured Amy once again.

Trump portrait ends decades-long tradition

Donald Trump 's decision to go with a 'dark MAGA' look in his new official photo jettisoned a 50-year tradition in presidential portraits of incorporating Old Glory into the image. Trump, who famously hugged the American flag on stage at CPAC in 2019 and 2020, opted for a portrait without the Stars and Stripes in the background. Instead, his new official presidential portrait features a closely cropped image of his face with a dark background. That makes him the first president since Richard Nixon not to have himself pictured in front of the American flag. (Trump is sporting his American flag pin, a modern fixture for presidents and politicians). The preceding nine presidents – along with Trump – chose to have an image in front of the flag as their official portrait. That includes the official portrait Trump used for the first weeks of his administration. Those portraits date all the way to the era when presidential portraits were in black and white. 'Is Trump the first president to not have any flag in the background of their official portrait?' asked the rockypoliticss account on X . That was a question that the New York Times tracked down, flagging Library of Congress images revealing every presidential portrait back to 1974 had Old Glory in it. Gushing about the new portrait was Sebastian Gorka, the British-Hungarian-American who serves as Trump's senior director for counterterrorism. 'President @realDonaldTrump's new portrait has been deployed at the @WhiteHouse. I loved the original, but this may be even more MAGA,' he wrote. The new official portrait is already up on the Eisenhower Executive Office Building next door to the White House. has reached out to the White House for comment about the new portrait. The flurry of interest over Trump's new portrait comes as it was revealed that he is continuing to use a 2019 image of himself as the lock screen picture for his iPhone. Trump's new official portrait pictures a stern-faced president over an all-black background – and shows indications of a heavy-handed photo-shop tools. The portrait replaces the one then president-elect Trump released three days before his inauguration. That portrait drew a striking resemblance to Trump's mugshot taken at the Fulton County jail during his reelection campaign after being charged with a racketeering conspiracy to overturn the state's election results. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee ultimately dismissed several of the charges and the case stalled. The White House released a new official version Monday in the form of a video clip of an aide hanging the new portrait on a wall that was posted on X. It shows Trump looking straight ahead, and squinting, wearing a light blue suit and sporting an American flag pin. It reveals a slight downgrade in the intensity of his prior portrait, which captured Trump with an eyebrow raised and appearing to glower – after reclaiming the White House while railing against 'witch hunts' against him and enduring two assassination attempts. That portrait now hangs in government buildings around the country. Experts immediately pointed to hallmarks of photo-shop, including changes that could obscure loose skin below the president's chin. Trump, 78, prizes physical prowess and recently called former President Joe Biden a 'decrepit corpse.' The new portrait does show bags under Trump's eyes, which are somehow absent in the Trump portrait from January, which features much starker lighting. Topping both may be Trump's mug shot, which show Trump gazing downward the first time he was charged with a crime. Aides hanged a newspaper photograph of that portrait soon after Trump took office. It was one of many changes that Trump added to the Oval Office. has asked the White House for information on the new portrait. The earlier one was taken by chief White House official photographer Daniel Torok. In April, Trump hung a stark portrait of himself between paintings of former first ladies Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton. A month earlier, Trump railed against an 'unflattering' portrait of himself that legisators hung in the Colorado state Capitol building.

Pete Hegseth orders Navy to strip name of gay rights icon Harvey Milk from ship in time for Pride Month

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered that the ship bearing the name of gay rights icon and Navy veteran Harvey Milk be renamed, according to The Office of the Secretary of the Navy issued a memo revealing the plans to change the name of the replenishment oiler ship USNS Harvey Milk, which was christened in 2021. They're also considering renaming several naval ships named after civil rights leaders and other distinguished Americans, CBS News noted. An official noted that the Navy was taking steps to change the name of the ship, but added that the Navy Secretary, John Phelan, was ordered to make the name change by Hegseth. The official added that the announcement timing, coming during Pride Month, was intentional, according to Washington D.C. is hosting WorldPride celebrations this year. Documents obtained by CBS News reveal that other ships under consideration for renaming are the USNS Thurgood Marshall, USNS Ruth Bader Ginsburg, USNS Harriet Tubman, USNS Dolores Huerta, USNS Lucy Stone, USNS Cesar Chavez, and USNS Medgar Evers. The memo seen by stated that the name change was done for there to be "alignment with president and SECDEF objectives and SECNAV priorities of reestablishing the warrior culture," in a seeming reference to President Donald Trump, Hegseth, and Phelan. Milk became the first openly gay man elected to public office in California when he became a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1978 after winning an election the previous year. He was assassinated in November 1978 following the passage of a bill prohibiting housing and employment discrimination because of sexual orientation. The renaming of the ship was set to become public on June 13, the memo said. While a new name for the Milk has not been announced, the memo said Hegseth and Phelan are set to make the announcement aboard the oldest commissioned ship in the Navy, the USS Constitution. The Harvey Milk is an oiler ship in the John Lewis -class. It's part of a group of ships named after civil rights activists. Lewis was a congressman and civil rights icon who passed away in 2020. Instances of renaming Navy ships are rare, and the process is taboo according to Navy traditions, noted. The Navy most recently renamed two ships in 2023 with connections to the Confederacy, the USS Chancellorsville and the research ship USNS Maury, to USS Robert Smalls and USNS Marie Tharp. Smalls was a slave who took charge of a Confederate ship and surrendered it to the Union, while Tharp was an oceanographer. However, these name changes were done following the recommendation of a commission established by Congress to review names with connections to the Confederacy in the entire military. The USNS Harvey Milk received its name in 2016 from the Navy secretary at the time, Ray Mabus. USNI News noted that Milk came from a family with a history of service in the Navy. Milk was commissioned in 1951. During the Korean War, he was an operations and diving officer on the submarines USS Kittiwake and USS Chanticleer. However, in 1954, Milk was facing a court-martial for previously having taken part in a 'homosexual act.' Instead of a trial, Milk left the armed forces, similarly to many other gay service members at that time. He resigned his commission and accepted an 'Other Than Honorable' discharge, CBS News noted. Becoming an icon and martyr in the LGBT+ community, he posthumously received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009. The USNS Harvey Milk is currently undergoing maintenance work at a shipyard in Alabama. Speaker Emerita and San Francisco Democratic Rep. Nancy Pelosi told CBS: 'The reported decision by the Trump Administration to change the names of the USNS Harvey Milk and other ships in the John Lewis-class is a shameful, vindictive erasure of those who fought to break down barriers for all to chase the American Dream.' "Our military is the most powerful in the world – but this spiteful move does not strengthen our national security or the 'warrior' ethos. Instead, it is a surrender of a fundamental American value: to honor the legacy of those who worked to build a better country,' she added. Hegseth was confirmed in January, and he was quick to issue a directive ordering the Pentagon and the various branches of the military to stop having events connected to heritage and awareness months, such as Pride Month, Black History Month, and Women's History Month, arguing that it could damage unity. The documents seen by CBS News say that Phelan should select a new name for the USNS Harvey Milk on Tuesday and that notifications of the new name would be sent to other Navy officials later in the week following a legal review.
