Bihar: No jewellery & make-up during duty hours, women cops livid over diktat
The directive, issued by the office of ADG (law and order) Pankaj Darad, comes after videos and photos surfaced on social media showing women police personnel making reels while wearing jewellery and heavy make-up items during duty hours. The police headquarters has classified use of make-up items and wearing the uniform in an improper way while on duty, as a violation of service rules.
Moreover, making reels and displaying weapons for social media, excessive use of Bluetooth devices for music or personal calls while on duty have also been listed as violations, as such activities distract personnel from their duties.

Police issue alert ahead of I-Day
Patna: Bihar police headquarters has issued a security alert to all district superintendents of police (SPs), senior superintendents of police (SSPs), railway SPs and range DIGs and IGs in view of Independence Day on Aug 15. Additional director general (ADG) of police (law and order) Pankaj Darad asked officers to enhance vigilance in their areas and maintain special surveillance in sensitive locations, according to a letter issued on Aug 8. "The alert particularly focuses on border districts and sensitive areas, instructing continuous patrolling and enhanced surveillance. The use of CCTV cameras and drones has been mandated to keep a close watch on border regions. Police have been directed to immediately check and investigate suspicious individuals. Rail police will also patrol in plain clothes on trains to ensure passenger safety," the letter said. Special attention will be given to religious and tourist sites such as the Mahabodhi temple in Bodh Gaya, Mahavir temple in Patna and Patna Sahib Gurdwara. Areas near the Nepal border and other sensitive zones are to have an active intelligence network for continuous information gathering. Darad warned that any lapse in security would not be tolerated. Cab driver robbed of cash, phones in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: A driver working with a taxi aggregator was robbed at knifepoint by a miscreant who booked a ride posing as a customer. The incident occurred between 10.50pm and 11.30pm on July 30 near Dalappa Layout off Bagalur. According to the complaint filed by 45-year-old Somanatha S, a resident of Laggere and native of Hiriyur in Chitradurga, he received a trip request near Nagawara signal. The customer boarded the vehicle after sharing an OTP and wanted to be dropped at Dalappa Layout. On reaching the destination, when Somanatha asked for the fare of Rs 157, the passenger threatened him with a lethal weapon. He forcibly took Rs 400 in cash from Somanatha and also snatched two mobile phones and a Bluetooth device. He demanded the phone passcode and rummaged through the car's dashboard for valuables. Kolkata police arrest four persons for duping businessman through 'fake bank website'
In his complaint, Agarwal alleged that he was cheated of Rs 1,18,410 by an online fraud on July 11. Agarwal alleged that the accused had opened a fake website of Axis Bank. There was also a helpline number provided to help customers. According to the police, Agarwal called that number. The person on the other side of the phone claimed to be the manager of a private bank. Following it, the accused also sent a link to Agarwal's WhatsApp. He was asked to click on the link and file a complaint. It is alleged that as soon as he clicked on the link, his mobile was hacked, and after that, Rs 1,18,410 was siphoned from his account through several transactions. After receiving the complaint, the police launched an investigation. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was also formed. It has found that in addition to Kolkata, the group of accused is also active in Jamtara. The police conducted searches in different places in the city on July 26. During the search, 39 mobiles, eight power banks, three sealed watches, a tab, two sealed Bluetooth speakers, a sealed headphone, a scooty and cash worth Rs 2.5 lakh were seized from them. According to police sources, the value of the seized items is between Rs 15 and 17 lakhs. The arrested persons were produced in a court on July 27. The court has ordered of their police custody till August 2.
