Man nabbed for stealing RM100,000 Rolex from parked car in Batu Pahat
BATU PAHAT, June 27 — A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stealing a Rolex watch worth more than RM100,000 that the owner had left in a car parked in the compound of his house in Taman Sinar Berlian, here.
Batu Pahat police chief ACP Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the victim discovered the theft at about 9.30pm last Tuesday after noticing signs of a break-in on his car.
In addition to the Rolex watch, valued at RM100,700, the victim also reported RM700 missing from the vehicle, he said, adding that a search operation was launched immediately upon receiving the report.
'At about 3am the following day (June 25), police arrested the suspect at a house in Taman Seri Wangsa and recovered the stolen watch. Police also seized clothing and equipment believed to have been used during the break-in.
'A urine test conducted on the suspect returned positive for Methamphetamine and further checks revealed that he had 14 records for criminal and drug-related offences,' he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, in another case, two men aged 50 and 36 were arrested for alleged involvement in a housebreaking case in Taman Soga Sutera and the theft of a car that was parked in front of the house last Sunday (June 22).
Shahrulanuar said the victim realised his house had been broken into after finding some of his valuables missing, with losses estimated at RM65,000.
'The first suspect was arrested in Peserai, at around 5pm the same day, while the second suspect was arrested a few hours later in Bandar Hilir, Melaka. Police also managed to recover the stolen items,' he said in a statement.
He said police also seized clothes and several equipment believed to have been used by the suspect in the incident, as well as heroin weighing an estimated 27.28 grams (RM682) and Syabu weighing 4.26 grams (RM468.60).
He said both of them tested positive for Methamphetamine, and with records for crime and drug-related offences. — Bernama

PASIR MAS, June 27 — Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) has said that the recent physical bullying incident involving six students at the Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in Besut, Kuala Terengganu should serve as a lesson to all students at other MRSM colleges to not repeat the same behaviour. Its chairman, Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, said that the six students have been suspended and expelled from MRSM after an investigation found that they were involved in bullying their college juniors. 'I have repeatedly emphasised that I will not compromise on any form of bullying. So what happened at Besut MRSM is very disappointing for me, and of course, all processes and procedures have been carried out at the college level. 'We have a disciplinary committee, and their (students) actions are indeed true. He said that strict actions, including suspension, were taken immediately because MARA's principle is very clear: there is no compromise on any form of physical bullying. 'I have already instructed the disciplinary committee of the Secondary Education Division that we cannot compromise because once the investigation is done, it gives the committee the option of suspension or otherwise, but I said in this matter that our principle is firm,' he said. According to him, this case should serve as a lesson to all MRSM students to understand that any act of bullying a classmate will not be taken lightly. Penang factory manager falls for fake US businessman, loses RM300,000 in Facebook romance scam
GEORGE TOWN, June 27 — An analysis manager at a factory in Bayan Baru, here, lost RM300,000 after falling victim to a love scam through social media. Penang Police deputy chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said the incident began when the 45-year-old woman became acquainted with a man claiming to be an American citizen via Facebook in November last year. He said not long after, they started communicating via WhatsApp after the man allegedly expressed a desire to pursue a serious relationship with the victim. 'The suspect introduced himself as a businessman in the field of information technology (IT), claiming to be operating a business in a foreign country. 'After a month of getting to know one another, the suspect told the victim that his bank account had been frozen in that country and asked for her help to make payments for the delivery of important stock related to his business,' he said in a statement today. Mohd Alwi said the suspect promised to repay the money and even offered additional payment as a token of appreciation to convince the victim. Lured by the online romance and trusting the suspect, the woman then made 16 transactions to five different bank accounts between December 12 and 14, 2024. However, the victim realised that she had been scammed when the suspect asked for more money, allegedly to cover his travel expenses to visit her in Malaysia. He also sent her a tampered photo of a passport. Mohd Alwi said the woman lodged a police report at the Barat Daya police headquarters yesterday. The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating. — Bernama
