Malema's three-point comeback plan for fired higher education minister

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema hosted a press conference on Thursday, 24 July, ahead of the party's 12th anniversary.
During the briefing, he addressed a range of political issues, including President Cyril Ramaphosa's recent decision to remove Dr Nobuhle Nkabane from her position as Minister of Higher Education and Training.
Malema, who has been a prominent figure in politics from a young age, shared some advice for Nkabane in the wake of her dismissal.
The Red Berets leader believes that with just three changes, the former minister can make a comeback.
'It's so painful. She's so young, she still has a chance to come back. I've seen people get demoted politically, and then they go rework on themselves, and then they come back,' said Malema.
The politician offered some constructive advice.
'The first thing she must do is to stop chewing gum in a meeting. She was still doing it even yesterday, there in parliament. The second thing is she must be humble and know that she doesn't know and be prepared to be guided and be advised by proper people,' said the EFF leader.
Finally, Malema said Nkabane must go back to her branch and learn, saying she was not ready to be a minister.
In an interview with eNCA , Nkabane said she accepted her removal and viewed it in a positive light.
Ramaphosa dismissed Nkabane in terms of Section 91(2) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa. He has since appointed Buti Kgwaridi Manamela as Minister of Higher Education and Training.

EFF calls for regime change in US: 'Unstable' Trump needs to go to!

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) launched a scathing attack on United States President Donald Trump, describing him as an 'unstable and illiterate imperialist'. The Red Berets rejected the 30% tariffs imposed by the US on South African exports, calling it a deliberate attempt to assert dominance by destabilising weaker economies. In a strongly worded statement, the party also criticised the South African government, warning that this is not the time for what it termed 'sheepish diplomacy.' The EFF said Trump's 'reckless and irrational' tariffs are rooted in a misguided understanding of global trade. The party said the US president poses a serious threat to global economic stability. In the statement, the party also said Trump is a danger to humanity and called for progressive forces across the world to unite and support efforts to remove him from office. The EFF also added that the world has suffered under Trump's rule for too long, calling him a dictator. The statement drew attention to EFF leader Julius Malema's political history. In 2012, he was expelled from the African National Congress (ANC) for calling then-president Jacob Zuma a dictator. Malema had earlier been suspended after being found guilty on three charges, including bringing the ANC into disrepute for advocating regime change in Botswana. The EFF also accused the ANC-led government of failing to improve the country's economy since the end of apartheid. 'Without resolving domestic structural constraints, our country will always be at the mercy of dominant imperial powers, tossed between competing global interests like a leaf in a storm,' the party said. Their comments followed remarks by International Relations and Cooperation Minister Ronald Lamola, who criticised opposition parties for failing to present a united front in response to the US tariff hike. The new tariffs are set to take effect at 12:01 am on Friday, 8 August. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 11. EFF welcomes Parliamentary Committee to investigate corruption and infiltration in law enforcement

EFF supports parliamentary investigation into law enforcement corruption Image: Ayanda Ndamane/ Independent Media The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has expressed its support for the newly established Ad Hoc Committee in the South African National Assembly, tasked with investigating serious allegations of corruption, criminal syndicate infiltration, and political interference within the country's law enforcement agencies. The committee is set to commence its work on Tuesday. In a statement issued on Monday by EFF spokesperson Sinawo Thambo, the party lauded the move as a critical step toward addressing the deep-rooted issues plaguing South Africa's justice system. The party warned that the committee's formation aligns with the EFF's longstanding call for a transparent and urgent parliamentary investigation into explosive revelations made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. "We welcome the National Assembly's unanimous resolution to establish this committee, as a necessary first step in unearthing the rot that has destroyed the very foundations of justice and accountability in this country," Thambo stated. He underscored that the investigation will focus on the disbandment of the Political Killings Task Team and other critical issues raised by Mkhwanazi, highlighting concerns over relationships between senior police leadership and certain members of the public, as well as infiltration into the judiciary. Thambo warned that the revelations threaten to erode public trust in South Africa's criminal justice system. "This is about whether South Africans can believe that the institutions charged with protecting them are not themselves captured by criminal interests," he said. The EFF leader also criticised Parliament's previous shortcomings, citing failures to act decisively during pivotal moments, such as the Section 89 independent report on the Phala Phala scandal and responses to the State Capture Commission's findings. "These failures highlight how Parliament often functions less as an independent oversight body and more as an extension of the Executive," Thambo remarked. He stressed the importance of the committee's leadership and composition. Given the gravity of the allegations, including potential misconduct by the Minister of Police and other senior government figures, the EFF advocates for a chairperson who is not affiliated with the Government of National Unity (GNU). "The credibility of this committee depends on its independence," Thambo asserted. The party called on all committee members to prioritise truth and transparency over political allegiance. "This is an opportunity for Parliament to demonstrate that it can rise above partisanship and serve the national interest," Thambo urged. The EFF also pledged full participation in the investigation, vowing to scrutinise all officials and ensure that no one, regardless of rank or party, is shielded from accountability. "We will ensure that South Africa's policing and justice systems are restored to serve the people, free from corruption and criminal influence," Thambo affirmed. [email protected] IOL Politics

EFF Gauteng slams ANC for abuse of State resources after holding NEC meeting in Germiston

JOHANNESBURG – The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Gauteng has slammed the African National Congress (ANC) for its alleged abuse of State resources after the party held its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at a government facility in the City of Ekurhuleni. The ANC relocated its NEC meeting to the Germiston Civic Centre over the weekend due to several issues, including inadequate heating and ventilation at the original venue in the south of Johannesburg. It's understood that the party couldn't hold its NEC meeting at its usual spot at the Birchwood Hotel, in Boksburg, because of financial difficulties and outstanding payments to the venue. This situation has upset some opposition parties, who are questioning how the ANC was allowed to hold its event at a government building without incurring any costs. ALSO READ: Some ANC Ekurhuleni members want upcoming regional conference halted "This brazen abuse of municipal infrastructure illustrates the ANC's tendency to blur the lines between the State and the party, and to treat public property as its private quarters. It is an insult to the people of Gauteng and Ekurhuleni, in particular, that the ANC, embroiled in bankruptcy and unable to fund its own events, now exploits public facilities to conduct internal meetings, even at the expense of ordinary council operations,' said EFF Gauteng spokesperson Dumisani Baleni. He claims the EFF in Ekurhuleni was affected by the ANC's decision to hold its NEC meeting at a municipal facility. "As a result of this meeting, the EFF caucus in the city was compelled to postpone its induction programme because the ANC locked down the civic centre, deploying State resources and police to create an exclusive zone to save the fast-decaying former liberation movement from public embarrassment. These actions by the ANC are not only disgraceful, they also play a role in compromising service delivery to the people of Ekurhuleni.'
