Lancashire's James Anderson back in the wickets as he returns to action
England great James Anderson took his first wicket of the summer on his county return for Lancashire as they assumed control over Derbyshire on day two of their Second Division clash.
The 42-year-old is making his first competitive outing since his farewell international appearance against the West Indies last June and dismissed Caleb Jewell with his 18th delivery to get back amongst the wickets.
Anderson signed a new one-year deal with the Red Rose earlier this year but was absent from the first five games of their campaign after he suffered a calf injury – though it did not take long for Anderson to get back into his groove.

After Lancashire posted 408 all out before tea, a cheer rang around from those inside Old Trafford after the break when his name was announced to open the bowling at the James Anderson End.
The country's record wicket-taker endured a tough return to the crease initially after he was driven for three boundaries in his third over, but he came around the wicket and clipped the top of off stump for his opening scalp of 2025.

Hasan Ali takes hat-trick and James Anderson also among Vitality Blast wickets
Hasan Ali claimed a hat-trick – and six wickets in just 3.1 overs – as Birmingham Bears wrapped up a 58-run success over bottom side Derbyshire in the North Group of the Vitality Blast. Bears openers Tom Latham and Alex Davies posted 58 and 49 respectively in a total of 199 for six at Edgbaston. Derbyshire re-sign Hudson-Prentice for T20 Blast
Derbyshire have re-signed all-rounder Fynn Hudson-Prentice from Sussex on an initial four-match T20 Blast loan deal. The 29-year-old, who was not involved in Sussex's first three games in this season's competition, has taken 33 wickets and scored 548 runs in 51 T20 appearances during his career. Advertisement He was a member of the Derbyshire squad which reached Finals Day in 2019 and spent three years at the County Ground before moving to the south coast. The Falcons needed extra options because Zak Chappell (hip) and Harry Moore (back) are sidelined by injury. The signing of Hudson-Prentice was completed in time for Sunday's North group away game against Bears.
