Rockies promote owner's son to leadership role amid one of worst MLB starts
DENVER — The Colorado Rockies have promoted the oldest son of team owner Dick Monfort amid one of the worst starts in baseball history.
Walker Monfort was named executive vice president of the Rockies on Thursday and will immediately begin leading the team alongside outgoing President and COO Greg Feasel, who is stepping down at the end of this year after 30 seasons in their front office, the team announced.
The Rockies went into Thursday's home game against the Los Angeles Dodgers with an 18-62 record. Colorado's 81st game marked the midpoint of its regular season.
Walker Monfort, 38, who had been the team's vice president of corporate partnerships since 2015, will officially assume Feasel's responsibilities by January.
Feasel joined the Rockies in 1995 as vice president of sales and marketing. He was promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer in 2010 and club president in April 2021.
'Greg has been a pillar of this organization since its earliest days,' Rockies owner Dick Monfort said. 'His leadership and vision helped shape not only the Colorado Rockies organization, but the entire baseball community throughout the Rocky Mountain region. He has been instrumental in our many successes over the years and has been a strong and steady presence throughout the past three decades.'
Feasel said it is bittersweet to be stepping aside, but that it was something he had discussed with the owner for several years.
Walker Monfort began his career with the Rockies at an entry level, gaining hands-on experience across multiple departments, including the grounds crew, gameday promotions, ticketing and visiting clubhouse from 2006-2009. He officially joined the front office in a full-time capacity in late 2009, working in minor league operations and player development through 2013.
'While we thank Greg for his impact and service, we are excited to turn the page into our next chapter with Walker,' Dick Monfort said. 'He brings a deep understanding of this organization, earned through his 20 years of experience working both within and alongside every department of our operation. He offers a fresh, forward-looking mindset, and we're confident his perspective, experience and leadership will benefit the club in the months and years to come.'

Receiving dividends always puts a smile on my face, and I am sure it will for you, too. Dividends constitute a stream of passive income that flows directly into your bank account. They also represent a tangible return on your investment, independent of the volatility of share prices. Some companies, however, deliver a bonus to their shareholders in the form of a special dividend. This additional payment will provide a much-needed boost to your passive income and give you additional cash to do as you please. Here are four Singapore companies that recently declared a special dividend. Boustead Singapore is a conglomerate with four key divisions – energy engineering, real estate, geospatial technology, and healthcare. The group delivered a mixed set of earnings for its fiscal 2025 (FY2025) ending 31 March 2025. Revenue plunged 31% year on year to S$527.1 million, dragged down by a lower order book for the engineering division at the end of FY2024. Gross profit, however, inched up 3% year on year to S$223.3 million because of better cost control. Net profit (adjusted for one-off items) rose 8% year on year to S$68.6 million. The group generated a positive free cash flow of S$68 million for FY2025. Boustead Singapore declared a final dividend of S$0.04 along with a special dividend of S$0.02, taking its total FY2025 dividend to S$0.075. This level of dividend was higher than the previous year's S$0.055. During FY2025, the engineering group secured around S$377 million in new engineering contracts and major variations. As a result, Boustead Singapore's engineering order backlog stands at approximately S$349 million at the end of FY2025. Earlier this month, the group announced that it is undertaking a strategic review of its stakes in its Singapore logistics and industrial assets. This review could involve a potential sale of these assets to a REIT to be listed on the Singapore Exchange (SGX: S68). Cortina is a luxury watch retailer with more than 50 boutiques across the Asia Pacific region. For FY2025, revenue rose 6% year on year to S$862.8 million. Net profit inched up 4% year on year to S$63.6 million. The retailer saw significantly higher free cash flow generation at S$47.7 million for FY2025, more than triple the S$13.3 million churned out in FY2024. Cortina declared a final dividend of S$0.02 and a special dividend of S$0.14, taking the total FY2025 dividend to S$0.16. This dividend was similar to what was paid out for FY2024. Management warned that global economic uncertainty will pose challenges to the luxury watch industry. Despite this worry, the group is confident that it will remain profitable for FY2026. Valuetronics is an integrated electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider that offers a full range of services from conceptualisation and engineering design to production and supply chain support. For FY2025, total revenue increased by 3.5% year on year to HK$1.7 billion, led by an 8.8% year-on-year increase in revenue for the Industrial and Consumer Electronics (ICE) division. Gross margin improved slightly from 15.9% in FY2024 to 17% in FY2025. Net profit increased by 4.3% year on year to HK$166.5 million. Free cash flow, however, came in at negative HK$20.1 million because of ongoing capital expenditure requirements for its new joint venture with Trio AI Limited to expand its AI computing infrastructure. A final dividend of HK$0.11 was declared together with a special dividend of HK$0.08. Coupled with the interim and special dividends of HK$0.04 and HK$0.04 that were already paid out, the total dividend for FY2025 came up to HK$0.27. This level of dividends was higher than the prior year's HK$0.25. Management plans to phase out products from the traditional lifestyle consumer category and is optimistic that customers in the immersive entertainment technologies sector can bring in more business. The group also mentioned a HK$250 million share buyback programme announced in February 2022, and intends to continue with this programme in FY2026. Singapore Post, or SingPost, is Singapore's sole postal service provider and is also an e-commerce logistics provider in Asia Pacific. The group announced a 7.5% year-on-year decline in its revenue for FY2025 to S$813.7 million. However, net profit shot up more than threefold year on year to S$245.1 million, mainly because of an exceptional gain from the divestment of its Australian business. The net exceptional gain was S$222.2 million and declared a special dividend of S$0.09 per share. However, after excluding this exceptional gain, SingPost's underlying net profit fell by 40.3% year on year to S$24.8 million. After this divestment, the group will sharpen its focus on its core business, which includes streamlining operations to save costs. S$30 million will also be invested in a new automation system for its Singapore postal and logistics operation to expand processing capacity for small parcels. San Francisco Unicorns drive cricket's popularity in Bay Area
The Bay Area's new cricket team has started hot after a 5-0 win over the Seattle Orcas on Wednesday night. It comes as the San Francisco Unicorns play their first season in the Major League Cricket league. Inside a Pleasanton training facility, cricket means fast balls, flat bats, and a sport chirping its way into America's lineup. "I fell in love with the sport when I saw my dad playing with his friends. So I gave it a shot," said 23-year-old Vatsal Vaghela of the San Ramon Grizzlies, a minor-league club with major momentum. He's what's known as a bowler—think baseball pitcher, except here the ball bounces off the ground first. "Like everyone who plays minor league, has that dream of playing at the highest level and minor leagues probably one of the best ways to just put yourself out there," Vaghela said. He's not the only one with big-league dreams. Shreyak Porecha, 14, plays on the Grizzlies' junior squad, part of a growing pipeline of fresh talent. "The energy it's the passion. It's the competitive environment," Porecha said. Major League Cricket is only in its third season, but it's quickly gaining ground. With billions of people worldwide tuning in, the U.S. isn't just catching up, it's catching on. This summer, the league takes its biggest swing yet: the Oakland Coliseum, once home to the A's, is hosting its first-ever top-tier cricket match. Although it may look like a cross between baseball and golf, you quickly find out it's a whole other ball game. David Haubert, Board Director for USA Cricket, believes the sport, second only to soccer worldwide, could give the 63,000-seat stadium a second life. "Every year is going to get a little bigger or a little better. We do expect to fill up the stadium," Haubert said. With the San Francisco Unicorns — the Bay Area's first pro cricket team — in the mix, the sport is getting a shot in the arm and a serious boost where it counts, said Grizzlies co-owner Samir Shah. Baseball may be America's pastime. But if fans have their way, cricket might just be its future, Samir Shah said. "They're playing to perfection," he said.
