FOX Sports favorite forced to confirm she has not been fired amid contract uncertainty
Charissa Thompson has put to bed any doubts over her
FOX Sports
future by making it crystal clear that she will not be parting ways with the network this year.
The popular sportscaster's future
has been up in the air
since the end of the 2024
NFL
season, having confirmed back in February
that her "contract's up"
. Best friend and lead sideline reporter
Erin Andrews
had also
found herself in the same predicament
, having revealed back in September that
her FOX Sports contract
was up
following the end of the most recent
season.
Neither
Thompson
or Andrews have announced new agreements with Fox Sports but the former has now indicated that she fully expects to be back with the network for the 2025
NFL
season, where she has most recently been the host of
Fox NFL Sunday's
lead-in show, Fox NFL Kickoff.
Speaking on
a recent episode
of the Calm Down podcast,
which she co-hosts with Andrews
, Thompson made the revelation as part of a new segment called "Is This Headline Real?". "No, I am not leaving Fox," she declared to listeners. "I was never leaving Fox. I don't know where this took on a life of its own."
Thompson's comments came as a result of a recent family visit to her sprawling 75-acre
California
ranch, where at least four of them questioned how she would be able to afford the property now that she doesn't have a job, prompting her to finally quash
the rumors about her leaving Fox
.
"I wouldn't normally address this because we all get fake headlines. But no, I'm not leaving Fox, I was never leaving Fox. I'm not fired... I hope I die at [Fox]," she said. "Fox is my longest relationship. I've been there since I was 22, starting out in HR. So yes, I adore Fox and plan to wrap up my career there far into the future. But for now, those are just bogus headlines."
Thompson also has an ongoing gig with Amazon
hosting its Thursday Night Football pre and postgame show
on Prime Video. However, rumors over her Fox Sports future initially began to swirl when she let slip that her deal with the network finished after
Super Bowl LIX
.
Charissa Thompson has insisted that she will not be leaving Fox Sports this year
"I just have to say one thing. And this is also what I am going on and on about Fox, and I swear, I mean it's not just because my contract's up, I love Fox so much," she said on an episode of the "Sit Down" podcast in February.
As for Andrews, she is yet to provide any clarity surrounding her situation but her previous comments on
the retirement of Fox Sports star Jimmy Johnson
suggested that she might just be about to stay put with the network. When
praising her former colleague
for his stellar career, Andrews speculated that he might "come back" to Fox "every now and then", suggesting that she will still be there when it happens.
'He's the best,' Andrews said on the "Calm Down" podcast
in March
. 'He makes everyone feel part of the team. He makes everyone feel like they belong. I'm so grateful for that…I adore him and it doesn't feel real. It won't really feel real until we kick off the season, but I love you coach, you're amazing. I have a feeling he'll come back every now and then.'
Neither Thompson nor Andrews have confirmed new deals with Fox Sports but with both having expressed expectations of returning to the network for the next NFL season, it appears likely that an announcement regarding their futures is imminent, especially with the 2025 NFL season creeping ever closer.

13 hardest-working actors you somehow still don't know by name
2. William Fichtner Above William Fichtner (Photo: IMDB) The man has serious main villain energy, even when he's playing a morally grey bureaucrat. From The Dark Knight to Armageddon to Prison Break , he's the guy you trust to deliver exposition while glaring over his glasses. You don't know his name, but you fear his authority. 3. Luis Guzmán He's the MVP of gritty supporting roles. Whether he's in a Scorsese film, a Paul Thomas Anderson fever dream or Wednesday on Netflix, Luis Guzmán brings equal parts charm and chaos. He's the unofficial mayor of 'that guy' city. 4. John Carroll Lynch Above John Carroll Lynch (Photo: IMDB) You may not remember the name, but you definitely remember Marge Gunderson's sweet, worm-loving husband in Fargo . He's also played serial killers ( Zodiac ) and sweet dads ( Crazy, Stupid, Love ), and once wore clown makeup as Twisty on American Horror Story . Range? Infinite. 5. Judy Greer Above Judy Greer (Photo: IMDB) Judy Greer was asking to be on this list. After all, her book is titled I Don't Know What You Know Me From: My Life as a Co-Star . She's everyone's best friend, ex-wife or overlooked sister. From 13 Going on 30 to Jurassic World , Greer has the market cornered on 'women who get interrupted mid-sentence'. One day she'll lead a film where no one talks over her—and we'll all cry. 6. John Michael Higgins Above John Michael Higgins (Photo: IMDB) John Michael Higgins is the king of faux-earnestness. Whether he's playing a smug commentator in Pitch Perfect or a neurotic boss in Great News , the actor is the kind of guy who will pronounce 'resume' with an accent on both Es, and you'll believe him. 7. Margo Martindale Above Margo Martindale (Photo: IMDB) She is so iconic that she played herself in BoJack Horseman . Yet you still know her as one of the snooty neighbours in Practical Magic . Margo Martindale brings gravitas to every role, whether it's in Justified , The Americans or August: Osage County . She doesn't chew the scenery—she fillets it. 8. Gary Cole Above Gary Cole (Photo: Fox via IMDB) 'Yeahhhh, I'm gonna need you to come in on Saturday.' With that one line in Office Space , Gary Cole secured a permanent spot in pop culture. Since then, he's played dads, creeps and conservative pundits, often all in the same role. See more: 10 comedians who delivered their best work in serious roles 9. Christopher McDonald Above Chris McDonald (Photo: IMDB) Wasn't he Shooter McGavin? Wasn't he the Dean in Sydney White ? Wasn't he one of the greasers in Grease 2 ? Shooter McGavin is his forever legacy, but Chris McDonald has done so much more. From sleazy lawyers to grumpy dads to news anchors who definitely get fired off-screen, he's the perfect guy to deliver a line with a side of smug. 10. Melanie Lynskey She's Drew Barrymore's kind sister in Ever After and Reese Witherspoon's friend in Sweet Home Alabama . She's the quiet emotional wreck you root for, from Heavenly Creatures to Yellowjackets . Melanie Lynskey can steal a scene with one look and a sigh. The only reason you forget who she is is because she's that good an actress. Did you even know she's from New Zealand? Don't miss: 12 best Hollywood films about Hollywood 11. Clancy Brown Did you just confuse Clancy Brown as the guy who played Raiden in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation ? Easy mistake. That's James Remar, by the way. Brown played Raiden, but only in the animated series. He also voiced Mr Krabs and became the face of The Kurgan in Highlander . Clancy possesses a presence that commands attention, making you sit up straighter whenever he appears on screen. 12. Richard Kind Richard Kind is the human stress ball in khakis. From Spin City to Inside Out , he's the voice of nervous optimism and light existential dread. You'd trust him with your taxes and your emotional breakdown. 13. Kyle Chandler Above Kyle Chandler (Photo: IMDB) Maybe you don't remember the Early Edition. Apart from playing Coach Taylor in Friday Night Lights , Kyle Chandler has been an FBI agent, a CIA agent, a suspicious husband or some combination of all three. The actor is Hollywood's go-to guy for 'rugged with a conscience'.

3 stars who should join Tom Brady and Terry Bradshaw in FOX NFL Sunday studio
The FOX NFL Sunday team will look a little different in 2025 without longtime staple Jimmy Johnson still in the fold. The 81-year-old former Dallas Cowboys coach retired from the post in March in what he called an "extremely difficult decision." The team has to announce a replacement for Johnson but still has plenty of stars without him, including host Curt Menafee alongside analysts Terry Bradshaw , Howie Long, Michael Strahan , and Rob Gronkowski. FOX could go in several directions to fill the void next season: the network could elect for a former coach, go for a former Cowboys player to fill the Dallas quota (FOX covers most regular-season Cowboys games), or leave the seat vacant for a season and wait for the biggest name possible. The network has further star power on the broadcasting side, especially after signing Tom Brady to a gaudy 10-year, $375 million contract last year. As a player, he was a key cog in the hailed Chicago Bears 1980s "Monsters of the Midway" defense. Rivera spent over a decade coaching in the NFL , capturing two NFL Coach of the Year awards with the Carolina Panthers. He was known as "Riverboat Ron" for his cavalier approach to going for it on third down. He was fired by the Washington Commanders after the 2023 NFL season. Rivera is a well-known personality with experience working in TV - working for SportsChennel Chicago in the 1990s - and with NFL Live on ESPN last season. He would also be the first person of Latin descent to work for the FOX NFL Sunday team. Michael Irvin would be a logical candidate for the 2025 FOX NFL Sunday team (Image: Getty Images) The Cowboys Connection: Michael Irvin Irvin was a three-time Super Bowl champion in Big D, ranking second in franchise history with 11,904 receiving yards. The Pro Football Hall of Famer matched his gaudy on-field numbers with his electric commentary on it. Irvin is a Hall of Fame personality, delivering a flurry of hit soundbites across his 15 years with NFL Network before he was let go in 2024. He is also an all-out Cowboys homer, exemplified by his positive relationships with many still on the team. He is also good friends with Johnson, who he played under in the 1990s. Irvin is already in-house with FOX, serving as a co-host on the debate show 'Speak' alongside Paul Pierce, Keyshawn Johnson, and Joy Taylor. The Active Player: Travis Kelce Quite simply, Kelce's relationship with Taylor Swift has elevated his status to being perhaps one of the most widely recognized American sports stars. He will return to the Kansas City Chiefs for at least one more season, but father time seems to be finally catching up to a star — he was held to just four catches in his team's Super Bowl LIX defeat. Would he be redundant next to another recently-retired tight end (Gronkowski)? Perhaps, but his appeal would attract millions of new eyeballs.

Laurence Fox denies sharing upskirting photo of TV star Narinder Kaur
The actor and right-wing activist Laurence Fox has denied sharing an upskirting photo of TV personality Narinder Kaur on social media. Fox, 46, is alleged to have shared a compromising image in a tweet posted in April 2024 of Kaur, 52, who appears regularly on Good Morning Britain and has previously appeared on GB News. He appeared at Westminster magistrates' court on Friday on two charges under the Sexual Offences Act 2003. He is accused of sharing a 'photograph or film of person in intimate state intending to cause alarm, distress or humiliation', in the first charge. The second alleges that he sent a 'photograph or film of genitals to cause alarm, distress or humiliation'. Fox, wearing grey jeans and a light blue shirt, spoke
