Former President Joe Biden diagnosed with prostate cancer
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Former President Joe Biden has recently been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones.
Dr. Ravi Patel with the Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Center joined 17 News at Sunrise to discuss the diagnosis of the former president, saying many tests can be done to prolong Biden's life.
According to Patel, the PSA test should be taken at the age of 45. If your family has a history of cancer, it is best to take the PSA test earlier.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, such as eating less fast food, more fruits and vegetables and reducing alcohol intake is also a great way to lessen cancer diagnosis or other health issues.

Obama WH physician says Biden doc should have performed cognitive test
Former President Barack Obama's White House physician said in a new interview that former President Joe Biden's doctor should have performed a cognitive test to evaluate his fitness to serve in office. Obama's doctor, Jeffrey Kuhlman, told The Washington Post that Biden White House physician Kevin O'Connor should have performed a cognitive test during Biden's last year as president, given his age. O'Connor, who Kuhlman first appointed as Biden's doctor in 2009 when he was vice president, declared in a 2024 report that the then-81-year-old president "continues to be fit for duty." The report did not mention any neurocognitive testing. "Sometimes those closest to the tree miss the forest," Kuhlman told the Post. "It shouldn't be just health, it should be fitness," Kuhlman said. "Fitness is: Do you have that robust mind, body, spirit that you can do this physically, mentally, emotionally demanding job?" Kuhlman, who departed the White House Medical Unit in 2013, described O'Connor as "a good doctor" who appeared to do his best to "give trusted medical advice." "I didn't see that he's purposely hiding stuff, but I don't know that," Kuhlman told the Post. "Maybe the investigation will show it." President Donald Trump on Wednesday ordered Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate whether Biden's aides "abused the power of Presidential signatures through the use of an autopen to conceal Biden's cognitive decline and assert Article II authority." "This conspiracy marks one of the most dangerous and concerning scandals in American history," the order says. "The American public was purposefully shielded from discovering who wielded the executive power, all while Biden's signature was deployed across thousands of documents to effect radical policy shifts." "Let me be clear: I made the decisions during my presidency," Biden said in a statement Wednesday night. "I made the decisions about the pardons, executive orders, legislation, and proclamations. Any suggestion that I didn't is ridiculous and false." Trump's order appeared to nod to the findings of special counsel Robert Hur, who investigated Biden's handling of classified documents while he was vice president. In a report released in February 2024, Hur concluded Biden "willfully retained and disclosed" sensitive materials but should not stand trial, describing the president as a "sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory." Hur cited instances when Biden could not recall key dates and events, including when he served as vice president and when his son, Beau, passed away. The report was released at a time when Biden was still planning a second term run. Last week, House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., issued a subpoena for O'Connor to appear for a deposition at the end of the month "as part of the investigation into the cover-up of President Joe Biden's cognitive decline and potentially unauthorized issuance of sweeping pardons and other executive actions." The committee re-posted the Post's interview with Kuhlman to X, writing, "Even Obama's doctor admits the truth. This is precisely why Chairman @RepJamesComer subpoenaed Dr. Kevin O'Connor, Biden's physician. This is a scandal of historical proportions, and we will investigate it thoroughly!" In a letter to O'Connor, Comer said the transcribed interview would focus on the physician's February 2024 assessment that Biden was "a healthy, active, robust 81-year-old male, who remains fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency." "Among other subjects, the Committee expressed its interest in whether your financial relationship with the Biden family affected your assessment of former President Biden's physical and mental fitness to fulfill his duties as President," Comer wrote. Questions about Biden's cognitive state stretch extend solely past Republicans. CNN's Jake Tapper and Axios' Alex Thompson recently published a book titled "Original Sin," which details concerns and debates inside the White House and Democratic Party over Biden's mental state and age. In the book, Tapper and Thompson wrote, "Five people were running the country, and Joe Biden was at best a senior member of the board." Naomi Biden, the former president's granddaughter, dismissed the book as "political fairy smut for the permanent, professional chattering class." Comer requested transcribed interviews with Biden's White House senior advisers Mike Donilon and Anita Dunn, former White House chief of staff Ron Klain, former deputy chief of staff Bruce Reed and Steve Ricchetti, a former counselor to the president. He also called for former senior White House aides Annie Tomasini, Anthony Bernal, Ashley Williams and Neera Tanden to appear before the committee and suggested subpoenas could be forthcoming if they did not schedule voluntary interviews.

Obama's doctor says Biden's physician should have given him cognitive tests
Former President Joe Biden's doctor should have given him more cognitive tests, according to the doctor of former President Barack Obama. Jeffrey Kuhlman, who served as Obama's doctor between 2009 and 2013, told the New York Post on Saturday that Biden and any politician over the age of 70 should be given "a few hours" of annual mental exams that should be accessible to the public. 'My position is that a 78-year-old candidate, Trump at the time, an 82-year-old president [Biden] would both benefit from neurocognitive testing,' Kuhlman said. He went on to say that "any politician over the age of 70 has normal age-related cognitive decline," and pointed out that he's been recommending annual mental exams for more than a year. Biden's doctor, Kevin O'Connor, oversaw three physicals for the president during his time in office, but Kuhlman says the physical reports did not include notes from a neurocognitive specialist. He also pointed out that Biden did not take the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, which Donald Trump agreed to take during his first term. That test is a two-minute screening test of about 30 questions that probes for signs of dementia, according to Kuhlman. Obama's doctor said that he had "no doubts" that Trump "aced" the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, but said he believes that the White House should also release the CT scans taken after Trump's attempted assassination last year. While the Montreal test is able to detect some basic signs of dementia, the doctor noted that it wasn't adequate for determining more serious cognitive issues. According to Kuhlman, mental processing speed and spacial visualization all begin to decline around the age of 60. Kuhlman said he respected O'Connor's medical judgement, but added that "sometimes those closest to the trees miss the forest." O'Connor told the New York Post in July 2024 — just days after the then-president announced he would not run for re-election — that Biden's cognitive health was "excellent." Then-White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre insisted to the public that Biden didn't "need a cognitive test" because he "passes a cognitive test every day." She has since decided to leave the Democratic Party and write a tell-all book about her time in the White House, earning her a savaging by some Democrats. Visitor logs to the White House show that Biden did submit an evaluation form to an expert in Parkinson's Disease, but O'Connor said that the meeting was part of Biden's annual physical. Kuhlman says that the doctor who evaluated Biden in that visit, Kevin Cannard, had been evaluating Biden for 14 years, and that he trusts the doctor's evaluation. O'Connor was subpoenaed by the Republican-led House Oversight Committee on Thursday to stand for questioning about Biden's mental abilities during a hearing on June 27. Shortly after the House investigation was launched, the Trump administration issued a memo stating that it was issuing its own investigation into whether or not people other than Biden used an autopen signature device to sign off on executive actions during the late period of Biden's presidential term. Both investigations follow the release of a book by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson, titled Original Sin, that alleges a mass coverup of Biden's cognitive impairment by those closest to him.

Biden's Doc Subpoenaed: Unraveling the Cognitive Cover-Up Scandal
(The Center Square) – Dr. Kevin O'Connor, former president Joe Biden's physician, has been subpoenaed by a U.S. House of Representatives panel investigating the physical and mental fitness of the 46th president. Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, ordered O'Connor to appear for a deposition on June 27 as part of the investigation into Biden's 'cognitive decline.' The date, ironically enough, is one year to the day his only debate with Donald Trump went horribly wrong leading to an eventual withdrawal from the campaign on July 21. Previously, Comer 'requested' O'Connor to appear voluntarily for a transcribed interview but he refused. The chairman also noted that in the last Congress he requested the physician to take part in a transcribed interview, but Comer's request was blocked by the Biden White House. , Comer highlighted an assessment made by the physician in February 2024, months before the former president's debate performance, that led to withdrawing from the race. The chairman noted that O'Connor said Biden was ''a healthy, active, robust 81-year-old male, who remains fit to successfully execute the duties of the presidency.'' Comer said the committee was also interested in exploring the physician's 'financial relationship with the Biden family' and whether it impacted his assessment of the former president's physical and mental fitness 'to fulfill his duties as president.' Comer concluded, 'Given your connections with the Biden family, the committee sought to understand if you contributed to an effort to hide former President Biden's fitness to serve from the American people. You refused the committee's request. However, to advance the committee's oversight and legislative responsibilities and interests, your testimony is critical.' In addition to O'Connor, Comer has sent letters to five former senior Biden White House aides, 'demanding they appear for transcribed interviews.' The chairman is seeking answers on the 'potentially unauthorized issuance of sweeping pardons and other executive action.' The subpoena comes on the heels of directing his counsel, the attorney general, and heads of relevant executive agencies to investigate 'whether certain individuals conspired to deceive the public about Biden's mental state.' The president is asking whether an autopen was used to carry out executive actions, including executive orders, clemency grants, pardons, and presidential memoranda, and who directed the president's signatures to be affixed to the documents. The investigation furthers the debate as to whether the pardons and actions could be voided. Like Trump, Comer calls for transparency, calling the 'cover-up' a significant scandal in American history. 'The American people deserve full transparency and the House Oversight Committee is conducting a thorough investigation to provide answers and accountability,' Comer said. 'The cover-up of President Biden's mental decline is one of the greatest scandals in our nation's history. 'These five former senior advisors were eyewitnesses to President Biden's condition and operations within the Biden White House. They must appear before the House Oversight Committee and provide truthful answers about President Biden's cognitive state and who was calling the shots.' The investigations have been fueled in part by a book written by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson, 'Original Sin,' which the congressman quoted as claiming, 'Five people were running the country, and Joe Biden was at best a senior member of the board.' Another book, written by former Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, is due in the fall. Entitled 'Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines,' the combative Biden staffer says she has left the Democratic Party and become an independent. The book's publisher has promised a run through the three weeks leading up to Biden withdrawing from pursuit of reelection.
