Stuttgart firm on keeping Woltemade despite reported Bayern agreement
The German tabloid claims Stuttgart are 'upset' that Bayern held talks with Woltemade behind the scenes while the Swabians were simultaneously trying to extend the player's contract.

In an interview with Bild, Stuttgart's director of sport, Fabian Wohlgemuth, made it clear once again that the player is not for sale.
'The fact that others have noticed his development and that reports of interest from other clubs appear almost daily changes nothing about the fact that Nick's journey with us is far from over,' Wohlgemuth emphasized.
'We are firmly planning with Nick and want to benefit from his sporting qualities next year as well. There is no alternative plan,' he added.
With Woltemade contracted to the club until 2028 without a release clause, Stuttgart are in a strong negotiating position.
Recently, it was reported that it would take an offer of at least €60 million to make them reconsider their stance.

Saints acquire second-year wide receiver Devaughn Vele from Broncos for a pair of draft picks

(AP) — The Denver Broncos are alleviating some of the crowding in their wide receiver room by sending second-year pro Devaughn Vele to the New Orleans Saints for a pair of draft picks. The Broncos will get a fourth-round selection in next year's draft and a seventh-rounder in 2027 in exchange for Vele, who caught 41 passes for 475 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie last season. Vele (6-foot-5 and 210 pounds) was a seventh-round selection by Denver out of Utah in 2024. He caught all eight passes thrown to him in last year's opener and two of his three TDs came against the AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs. He also caught a half-dozen passes for 80 yards against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12. Vele joins a receiver corps in New Orleans that also includes Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, Brandin Cooks, Mason Tipton, Cedrick Wilson Jr. and Dante Pettis. Led by Courtland Sutton, the Broncos have a deep wide receiving corps, which coach Sean Payton has said would provide some difficult decisions when it comes to paring the roster to the NFL-mandated 53 players next week. In addition to Marvin Mims Jr., Trent Sherfield Sr. and Troy Franklin, rookie Pat Bryant has had an outstanding training camp as have undrafted rookies Joaquin Davis, Jerjuan Newton and Courtney Jackson. Baltimore Ravens' Lamar Jackson is OK after injury scare during practice, team says
The Baltimore Ravens held their breath as two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson left practice early Wednesday after he was knocked to the ground. Jackson went inside the facility with a staff member and a team doctor. A Ravens spokesperson said Jackson had his foot stepped on and is fine. Reporters at the practice say Jackson was seen shaking and flexing his right wrist and hand. "I was thinking like, 'Oh, he's probably just resting his arm or something like that,'" said Ravens wide receiver Tylan Wallace, according to CBS Sports. "Obviously, we'll keep him in our prayers and everything and hope he's doing great. But with Lamar being Lamar, he'll be back before we know it." Jackson, a 2018 first-round draft pick, passed for 4,172 yards with 41 touchdowns and four interceptions in 2024. He also gained 915 rushing yards. He won the league's MVP award in 2019 and 2023. Jackson isn't expected to play in the Ravens' preseason finale on Saturday against the Washington Commanders. Ravens backup quarterback Cooper Rush should take the majority of the snaps in the final preseason game. Rush, who previously played for the Dallas Cowboys, passed for 198 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions in last week's preseason game against his former team. Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken said Cooper Rush took a big step forward in the second preseason game. "You would expect that from one game to the next, right? Practicing against the [Indianapolis] Colts is different than actually playing [them] and taking the field," Monken said. "Cooper played really well, felt a lot more comfortable. [It was] good for him being back in Dallas for the preseason game [and] going back to where he started his career."
