Germany prepares to develop deep-strike, long-range missiles
Three consortia are working on concrete concepts after the Luftwaffe airforce sent a request for deep-strike drones to leading defense companies and startups, the report said.
According to the report, Airbus Defense is contributing to the project alongside U.S. startup Kratos, while Germany's Rheinmetall has teamed up with drone specialist Anduril. Munich-based startup Helsing is also involved, the report said.
The German defense ministry confirmed preparations for such a project to Handelsblatt, saying that initial talks had taken place but that no formal tender had been issued.
The ministry and the companies mentioned did not respond to emailed requests for comment from Reuters.

Stellantis faces $1.7b hit from us tariffs this year
Stellantis has forecasted that US tariffs would cost it 1.5 billion euros (1.7 billion) this year – five times the hit taken in the first six months of the year when the carmaker tallied losses of 2.3 billion euros (2.65 billion). The maker of Jeep, Chrysler, Fiat, and Peugeot cars said Tuesday that net profits plummeted from 5.6 billion euros (6.5 billion) in the same period last year as it burned 3.3 billion euros (3.8 billion) in cash for the cancellation of a hydrogen fuel cell project, changes in the fine regime for US carbon emission regulations, and write-downs on platform investments. US President Donald Trump's tariffs cost the company 300 million euros (346 million) in the first six months of the year, Stellantis said. During the period, US shipments were down by nearly a quarter as the carmaker reduced the importation vehicles produced abroad. Stellantis said it expected net revenues to increase over the next six months compared with the first half when they dropped 13 percent to 74.3 billion euros (85.7 billion). The carmaker also said cash flow would improve. Incoming CEO Antonio Filosa, who was confirmed in the role last month, said the new executive team will continue to make the tough decisions needed to re-establish profitable growth and significantly improve results. 'My first weeks as CEO have reconfirmed my strong conviction that we will fix what's wrong with Stellantis,' Filosa said in a statement.

Pakistan, Kuwait agree to boost high-level exchanges, deepen ties in trade and defense
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya agreed to increase high-level official exchanges to strengthen bilateral relations and bolster cooperation in trade, investment and defense, Pakistan's foreign office said in a statement on Tuesday. The two ministers met on the sidelines of the International Conference on the Two-State Solution at the United Nations in New York. Pakistan has been seeking to enhance economic and strategic partnerships with Gulf nations, including efforts to export more skilled human resources to the region in a bid to boost remittances, which reached a record $38.3 billion in the last fiscal year. 'The two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen Pakistan-Kuwait relations, with a focus on enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, energy, food security and defense,' the foreign office said. 'They also discussed close collaboration at multilateral fora, including at the UN and OIC [Organization of Islamic Cooperation].' 'Both sides agreed to undertake high-level exchanges in the near future to deepen bilateral engagement,' it added. Dar and Al-Yahya also expressed concern over continued Israeli aggression against Palestinians and the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, calling for a just and lasting resolution. They voiced hope that the outcomes of the UN conference would contribute meaningfully toward the realization of the two-state solution. Earlier this year, Pakistan and Kuwait held the fourth round of Bilateral Political Consultations in Kuwait in May, where senior officials reviewed cooperation in trade, labor and consular affairs. Prior to that, in February, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al‑Ahmad Al‑Sabah and pledged to transform bilateral relations into a robust economic partnership, while also coordinating positions on regional issues including the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The two sides are also trying to enhance collaboration in defense training, cybersecurity and military joint exercises.
