The Ting plug-in sensor and app help detect hazards that lead to electrical fires within a home's wiring, devices, and utility equipment. If a hazard is identified, the Ting sensor app alerts the homeowner and guides them through the repairs needed to address the issue.
'SageSure is proud to enhance our suite of solutions with an electrical fire prevention program proven to make homes safer and more resilient,' said Paul VanderMarck, Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at SageSure. 'Fires are one of the most costly and devastating events a homeowner may face, and approximately 20% of SageSure's fire claims are the result of electrical hazards. We look forward to partnering with our producers to help our policyholders reduce electrical fire risk and protect their families.'
In addition to fire prevention, Ting also provides real-time alerts for power outages and assistance for frozen pipe prevention as part of its commitment to helping keep families safe and informed.
'We are proud to offer Ting to our clients because it gives homeowners peace of mind and allows us to deliver even greater value,' said Dick Gibbs, VP of Sales at Hartwig Moss Insurance Agency, one of SageSure's distribution partners. 'By helping our clients prevent losses before they happen, we are not only protecting their homes; we are protecting their families and futures. Ting is more than just a safety device—it is a key differentiator that sets SageSure apart in a crowded market. It's the kind of innovation that makes us proud to represent SageSure.'
'We're thrilled to partner with SageSure to bring Ting to even more homes,' shared Bob Marshall, Whisker Labs Co-Founder and CEO. 'Ting has already been deployed to over 1 million homes and saved over 20,000 policyholders from potentially devastating fires. This partnership not only helps keep families safe but also strengthens the relationship between policyholders, their insurance providers, and insurance representatives by offering a preventative, technology-driven solution.'
Eligible SageSure policyholders will receive a free Ting plug-in sensor, the Ting app, up to three years of free fire prevention service, and a $1,000 credit for labor repair costs of Ting-identified hazards. SageSure plans to expand the program to more states soon. To learn more, visit sagesure.com/ting.

KBRA Releases Research – CMBS Servicer Advances: Curtailments Accelerate
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--KBRA releases research on the current trends in CMBS servicer advances, appraisal reductions, and nonrecoverable advances. The report examines some of the servicer advancing (SA), appraisal reduction amounts (ARA), and nonrecoverable advance (NRA) trends over the past three years through June 2025, which can provide a window into next year's trends. Servicer advancing is an important structural feature in CMBS transactions, given the illiquid nature of distressed commercial real estate (CRE) loans. With the increase in distressed CMBS loans over the past three years, the balance of loans with SA in CMBS 2.0 has risen to $55 billion (8.3% of outstanding CMBS balance), increasing 33% a year on average. Along with the growth in SA, the curtailment of advances in the form of ARA and NRA determinations have accelerated, especially over the past two years. SA curtailment is expected to expand, given the challenges the CRE markets still face as servicers seek to manage the risk of nonrecoverable advances and ensure there is sufficient room for property protection advances. For some transactions, this will have a meaningful impact on trust cash flows. Key Takeaways The balance of distressed CRE loans requiring SA has nearly doubled over the past three years to $54.8 billion (8.3% of total balance), while the number of such loans has increased 38.4%, to 1096 from 792. Loans with ARAs total $24.4 billion across 469 loans, representing just over 40% of distressed loans by both balance and loan count. Loans with NRAs total $10.4 billion across 254 loans, a figure that has grown more than tenfold in the past three years. The total amount of ARAs has grown more than 45% annually over the past two years, following a modest 4.1% increase between June 2022 and June 2023. Office (40.9%), retail (19.55%), and lodging (15.6%) loans represent the largest concentrations of distressed loans. However, lodging loans account for 29% of outstanding advances—just behind office (34%) and well ahead of retail (14.9%)—as the average distressed lodging loan has remained in special servicing for a longer period. Office loans also represent the highest share of ARAs (44.9%) and NRAs (39.5%) by loan balance, followed by retail at 25.9% and 20.1%, respectively. Analysis of the 25 conduits with the most SA outstanding shows a wide range of outstanding advances and varying levels of ARAs and NRAs—each of which is a key factor in assessing potential impacts on future deal cash flows. Among these top 25 transactions Outstanding advances range from 36.2% to 0.9% of the outstanding deal balance. The ratio of ARAs to distressed loan balance range from 8.3% to 100%. In some conduits, all distressed loans have NRAs, while others have none. An analysis of the 15 single-asset, single borrower transactions with the most SA outstanding reveals a pool consisting of mainly lodging (six), office (four), mixed-use (four), and one multifamily. All but two have ARAs ranging from 95.4% to 3.6%, while eight have NRA determinations. Click here to view the report. 2.3 Million PC Gaming Handhelds Will Be Sold in 2025, According to Omdia
LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--New Omdia research reveals 2.3 million PC gaming handhelds, including the Steam Deck, will be sold globally in 2025. This will represent growth of 32% from 2024, when 1.7 million units were sold. Omdia forecasts 4.7 million PC handhelds will be sold annually by 2029. 'Windows 11 is currently poorly suited to handheld gaming, and devices are not delivering a generational leap in performance over the market leading Steam Deck,' commented James McWhirter, Senior Analyst covering games at Omdia. Share PC vendors continue to face challenges. 'Windows 11 is currently poorly suited to handheld gaming, and devices are not delivering a generational leap in performance over the market leading Steam Deck,' commented James McWhirter, Senior Analyst covering games at Omdia. However, 2025 is bringing progress on these fronts. 'Windows 11's upcoming refreshed gaming mode is expected to dramatically improve the user experience on PC gaming handhelds. This, coupled with the first Xbox-branded handhelds launching in late 2025, provide potential for devices to resonate with a broader audience beyond PC gaming enthusiasts,' added McWhirter. Microsoft is also investing to ensure PC vendors will eventually have access to semi-custom APUs to power their handhelds via its recent partnership with AMD – this will help provide a generational leap in performance. PC gaming handhelds coexist with PC gaming desktops and laptops as complementary devices, and a similar dynamic is observed with Sony's PlayStation Portal, another device covered in Omdia's Games Handhelds Database. Omdia finds PlayStation Portal surpassed a 3% attach rate to PlayStation 5 by the end of 2024. The arrival of the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2025 brought a new console cycle to the handhelds market, with Omdia forecasting over 20 million combined units of the Switch 2 and Switch sold globally in 2025. 'Nintendo continues to follow the traditional console model with the Switch 2 – compelling exclusive blockbuster content marketed in tandem with the hardware. But it will not reach the heights achieved by the original Switch,' added McWhirter. 'Switch's unique selling point of high-quality gaming on the go has now been commoditized. Switch 2's upgrade cycle is therefore an opportunity for competing platform holders and vendors to encourage the Switch audience to consider their handhelds instead.' Omdia's Games Handhelds Database covers the full breadth of the handhelds market, forecasting hardware sales volume, value, and installed base through to 2029 across key territories. Devices covered include PlayStation Portal, Valve Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, Asus ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, MSI Claw, Panic Playdate, and more.
