BILLIONAIRE Jeff Bezos and his bride-to-be Lauren Sanchez have booked a $11,600-a-night five-star hotel in Venice ahead of the wedding of the summer, a source has claimed.
The Amazon founder, 61, popped the question to the former TV journalist, 55, in May 2023.

An Italy-based insider told The U.S. Sun this week: "Jeff and Lauren have booked the Grand Canal Suite, the biggest they have, and it's the talk of the hotel.
"The room is spectacular and even has access to a rooftop terrace overlooking the city.
"The wedding is set to be a huge affair and the Kardashians are also said to be staying at the hotel, along with other high-profile guests.
"It's a spectacular palazzo that's the most exclusive hotel in Venice.
"The Aman hotels are very 'if you know you know' within a certain set - keeping them above a Four Seasons or a Belmond in the world of luxury.
"They're both lavish and quiet luxury at the same time."
It's unclear whether the hotel suite is for Sanchez for the night before the wedding, or where they will stay after the ceremony.
The U.S. Sun has reached out to the couple's rep for comment, along with the Kardashians.
Bezos also has a megayacht for guests, and the exact venue of the wedding is yet to be confirmed.
Luca Zuin, spokesperson for the mayor of Venice, told media the three-day celebrations will run from June 24 to 26.
Katy Perry & Lauren Sanchez unveil new sleek women's Blue Origin spacesuits after vowing to 'put the a** in astronaut'
The U.S. Sun can confirm the dates are booked out on the Aman Venice website.
The source went on: "The hotel goes back to the 16th century and has been beautifully maintained and restored.
"Every detail of the hotel has been thought out from the privately secure entrance [buzz for entry, or arrival via private boat], to the service and staff."
"The design is breathtaking leaning into classic Venetian with elements of Aman's southeast Asian roots in the garden.
"Once you go up the main staircase you see how opulent it really is - there's almost an air of mystery.
"It's truly above and beyond and Jeff and Lauren will have the best day of their lives."
The hotel has a restaurant, Avra, along with a luxury spa.
George and Amal Clooney had their intimate star-studded wedding at the hotel in September 2014.
It was also the venue for Dolce & Gabbana's striking 2021 Alta Moda show which took over the city and saw Jennifer Lopez arrive on a gondola.
Local media also claimed guests will also be staying at The Gritti Palace, another palazzo built in the 15th century.
Bezos popped the question with a $2.5 million 20-carat ring and the pair hosted a decadent engagement party on their megayacht in Positano, Italy, in August 2023.
The groom-to-be, whose estimated net worth is $212 billion, reportedly placed the ring under her pillow before Lauren found and opened the box.
She later told Vogue that she "blacked out a bit" during their proposal due to her excitement.

Sanchez has revealed that she has chosen her dress, believed to be from Oscar de la Renta, and will be styled by Vogue boss Anna Wintour.
Celebrities who were sent invites for the wedding include Kim Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Orlando Bloom and his fiancee, Katy Perry.
TMZ has also claimed Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, as well as Karlie Kloss and her husband Joshua Kushner, are invited.
President Donald Trump has also been invited after Sanchez and Bezos had front-row seats at his inauguration in January.
It's truly above and beyond and Jeff and Lauren will have the best day of their lives."
Italy-based source told The U.S. Sun
The exact venue where the couple will tie the knot is still to be confirmed.
The pair began dating in 2019 but avoided being seen together until finalizing their respective divorces.
Bezos and his ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott, made their split official in April 2019, after more than 25 years of marriage.
Meanwhile, Sanchez and her ex-husband, Patrick Whitesell, settled their divorce in October 2019, after 13 years together.
She has previously said that Bezos inspires her "every day," and makes her a better person.
Meanwhile, the entrepreneur has told reporters: "Lauren is the most generous, most big-hearted person that you would ever meet… She never misses a birthday.
"The network of people that she gives birthday presents to is gigantic. And that's just a small example."

Nurse reveals the ‘worst baby name ever' and confesses ‘it keeps me up at night'

NO KIDDING Nurse reveals the 'worst baby name ever' and confesses 'it keeps me up at night' FINDING the perfect name for your little one isn't always easy. You could go the classic and traditional route, or push the boat out and give them a much more unique moniker. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Some people weren't convinced the parents would really be allowed to give the name to their child Credit: Getty 2 The controversial name left many stunned Credit: Getty Either way, the name parents give their newborns will definitely be judged by strangers, friends and family. But there's one name more likely to receive some of that harsh judgement. This comes after one Reddit user revealed the name nurses from their local delivery centre deemed it the 'worst name'. Apparently, one baby was unlucky enough to be called Richie Rich Putin. The moniker is a combination of actor Macaulay Culkin's 1990s film Richie Rich and the last name of Russian president, Vladimir Putin. 'I used to think the name laws are more strict [in Germany] than in other countries,' the Reddit user wrote. 'The city will decide whether the name you chose is an actual name or the child will be bullied for it.' But somehow, little Richie Rich Putin wasn't picked up on by authorities. 'Just felt like I had to share that while lying awake thinking about my soon-to-be-born child's name,' they added. But after sharing the unusual name on the social media site people couldn't believe any parent would really use the name on their bundle of joy. Peppa Pig's Mummy Pig gives birth to third baby as GMB reveals first pic and piglet's sweet name 'Do parents really hate their child that much? Or do they think it's funny and don't think it through for the kid's future?" one person commented. "That poor child. Can you imagine all oligarch bootlicking that must go on in its home," a second said. Meanwhile, someone else said: "Wow, and they gave my mom sh*t back then because my name apparently wasn't masculine enough. "They tried to get her to give me a more traditional German middle name. She stood her ground long enough that they gave up." But the name isn't the only unusual one that cause a stir online recently, as one mum decided to name her son after a mode of transport. Taking to Reddit, the mum-to-be's concerned cousin revealed that she was desperate to talk her out of the unusual name. She said: "I just got invited to the shower for my cousin's baby, and she's naming the baby... "Trucklyn. "I think I have to go to the baby shower to try and get them to change it, or at least figure out why." The cousin added that she had tried to figure out if the name was a joke, but had so far been unsuccessful. Reddit users flooded the comments section with their thoughts, with many critical of the unique moniker. One person said: "It is your duty to try to convince them to change the name. A second person said: "Poor kid wont stand a chance."

Simon Yates rides away with prize of Giro d'Italia while rivals lose the plot

The Mexican standoff is a much-loved cinematic device, but the stalemate beloved of western movie script writers has rarely, if ever, decided one of cycling's Grand Tours. The 2025 Giro d'Italia was the exception, appositely as the biggest loser was an actual Mexican, Isaac del Toro, with the unassuming Lancastrian Simon Yates the two-wheeled equivalent of the bandit who skips off with the loot, while two other bandits – in this case Richard Carapaz and Del Toro – stare each other down waiting for the other man to blink. Yates's second career Grand Tour win, forged on the Colle delle Finestre on Saturday afternoon in a peerless display of courage and cunning, and sealed 24 hours later in the streets of Rome, will go down in cycling's annals as one of the most improbable heists the sport has witnessed. The endless joy of the Grand Tours – Spain, France, Italy – is that they throw up all kinds of delightful scenarios, but there have been few, if any, where the decisive plot line was a frozen stalemate between the cyclists in first and second places, each waiting for the other to move while a third man skipped away to victory. This was probably the most bizarre act of self-immolation in a Grand Tour since 1989, when Pedro Delgado wrecked his race on day one by getting lost en route to the start of the prologue time trial. To understand how this happened, the first key element is Yates himself. Now 32, his career has been marked by two qualities: patience and sang-froid. His ability to wait for the right moment, and to seize that moment, has been the hallmark of his best wins, going back to his earliest triumphs: his 2011 stage win in the Tour de l'Avenir, his 2013 world title in the points race on the velodrome in Minsk, and his Tour of Britain stage win later that year. When he threw caution to the winds, at the Giro in 2018, it backfired spectacularly at the end of the three weeks, in no less a place than the Colle delle Finestre; when he won the Vuelta a few months later, he had learned the lesson and bided his time. That it has taken so long for him to take a second Grand Tour can be largely summed up in one word: Slovenia. Seven years ago, no one would have predicted the rise and rise of Tadej Pogacar and Primoz Roglic. Yates first looked like a potential winner on the day that Del Toro took the race lead, the gravel‑road stage into Siena, and he had ridden the perfect race since then, never losing enough time to rule him out, never putting his cards on the table. It took more than guts and patience; it needed the other pieces of the tactical jigsaw to slot into place. His team, Visma‑Lease-a-Bike, did what they had to do best: sending a satellite rider ahead in the day's main escape in case of need. Most days, the pawns had had limited impact; here, the strongest and most versatile, the Belgian Wout van Aert, was in the perfect position to help Yates to mess with Del Toro's and Carapaz's minds. Neither the Mexican nor the Ecuadorian had a teammate in place alongside Van Aert, an egregious blunder, because if either man had had an equipier to hand at the key moment – at the foot of the descent off the Finestre with 36km remaining when Yates was still just about within reach – it could well have tipped the balance. Sign up to The Recap The best of our sports journalism from the past seven days and a heads-up on the weekend's action after newsletter promotion Unwittingly, Carapaz's EF Education team slotted in another piece at the foot of the Finestre, where the EF domestiques ensured that the peloton would hit the climb at warp speed, paving the way for Carapaz to attack Del Toro. In the event, the Ecuadorian was unable to dislodge the Mexican, but their violent acceleration achieved something more insidious: it burned off Del Toro's teammates, who had defended his lead impeccably for 11 stages. By the time they rejoined Del Toro, Yates was long gone. Once Yates had flown the coop at the foot of the Finestre, it was Del Toro's job, as the race leader, to pursue the Lancastrian, whether or not he had any teammates with him. But he knew that to do so would expose him to a late attack from Carapaz, who had started the day only 43sec behind. And Carapaz was equally aware that if he chased, Del Toro might be the beneficiary. It needed either to seize the initiative, or for one team manager to issue an ultimatum to his rider. Without that, the upshot was the absorbing but unedifying spectacle of the pair freewheeling as Yates forged ahead with Van Aert – unedifying that is, unless you were a Visma team member, a British cycling fan or a connoisseur of the bizarre twists that bike racing unfailingly produces.

Presenter Danny Campbell to run 10k race in Crocs in memory of brother

His younger brother Duncan died in 2024 after a long battle with cancer. Before his death, Duncan Campbell spoke about his mental health in a book called The Suicide Notes and at an Edinburgh Fringe show of the same name. Danny Campbell said the race will be deeply personal, and funds raised will go to the Mental Health Foundation. He said: 'There were days where I was really overwhelmed, anxious, and felt like I was failing at everything – being a dad, running a business, keeping it together. Danny Campbell will take on the 10k in his Crocs (Image: HOKO Design/PA) 'My brother was honest about his own struggles, and that has been an inspiration and, in many ways, it's changed my life. 'Running in Crocs might sound daft, but it's about showing up exactly as you are and marching to the beat of your own drum. That's what he taught me.' Known for their signature aesthetic rather than as running shoes, the Crocs are likely to make the 10k even harder for Campbell. The 34-year-old, who founded Glasgow-based HOKO Design in 2019, has become well-known in Scotland through his architectural work, as well as for his TV presenting. Behind the scenes however, he has had to face the loss of his brother, while growing a business and raising his three young sons. READ MORE: The presenter said: 'When Duncan died, everything changed. He was so young. He was kind, funny, and smart. He was always the first to ask how I was doing. 'If Duncan had decided to end his life, we would have lost those final special years together. I'm grateful we had that time. 'I believe we had that time because he opened up. Hopefully by running a very slow 10k in squishy shoes, I can encourage others to share their problems with those close to them.' Danny Campbell hopes he will help break down stigma around mental health (Image: HOKO Design/PA) The Glasgow Men's 10k starts at the Riverside Museum and finishes at Glasgow Green, and is designed to get men of all ages moving and talking – with a focus on mental health. Campbell added: 'I read all the comments online about my Crocs, and I think it's a great indicator of why people don't open up. 'I find the online abuse quite funny, but if you take a step back, it shows that if you do anything remotely different from the norm, people want to knock you down. 'We lose too many good people because they don't feel they can talk. If doing something a bit silly gets even one person to open up, that's a win. 'An event like this is brilliant because it brings men together and will hopefully help remove the stigma around mental health. Maybe it'll remove the stigma around wearing Crocs too.' Julie Cameron, associate director for Scotland at the Mental Health Foundation, said: 'We're incredibly grateful to Danny for taking on this challenge, raising both awareness and vital funds for the Mental Health Foundation. 'His message encouraging people, especially men, to talk about their struggles and seek support is more important than ever. 'While awareness has grown, stigma still holds many back from opening up about their struggles. 'Normalising conversations around mental health is crucial, and if an architect running a 10k in Crocs sparks those discussions, that's a win.'
