‘Nobody 2' Strikes A Fun, But Familiar, Note
Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) plays a great schlub. Give him a bad haircut and frumpy clothes, and he instantly looks like a grown-up version of the kid who got picked on in middle school. That was the conceit of the first Nobody (2021): what if Hutch Mansell, the schlub down the street, was actually a deadly hitman/operative for the government? The original action comedy got its kicks (sorry) and laughs from his family members slowly discovering that their unassuming patriarch is actually a secret bad ass. In the opening moments of Nobody 2, we learn that Hutch is paying off a sizable financial debt to his government overseers by taking on one deadly assignment after another. He sees his kids off to school dressed in an outfit that can only be described as a means of birth control. Then he heads into the 'office' to crack heads and steal encrypted hard drives. Now that Hutch is 'out' to his family, and they're familiar with his special set of skills, Nobody 2 relies on anger management jokes between brawls and shootouts. Don't upset dad because he may not be able to reign himself in, and we've seen what he can do. Burned out on burning bad guys, Hutch makes the decision to take the fam on a legit summer vacation to let off some steam without accumulating a body count in the process. He decides the Mansell gang needs to head to the backwater amusement park that brought him joy as a kid. And, you guessed it, he quickly runs afoul of an organized crime syndicate headed by Lendina (a scenery-chewing Sharon Stone). Soon his father (Christopher Lloyd) and his brother (RZA) are looking down the barrels of automatic weapons instead of enjoying the water park. Indonesian action master Timo Tjahanto (Killers, The Night Comes For Us) is in the director's chair for this sequel. The action sequences are quick, brutal and very legibly shot. Unlike so many other action filmmakers, Tjahanto relies on visual clarity when his colleagues often employ quick edits to hide the ragged seams of their fight scenes. If the action in Nobody 2 seems a bit tame when compared to Tjahanto's reputation, just remember there's no such thing as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in Indonsia, and American stuntmen have a union. The film harkens back to the action films of the mid-1980's (Death Wish 3) where unlikely alliances are formed to clean up a town that used to be a nice place to live. Substitute some John Wick-style hand-to-hand combat for some of Charles Bronson's incessant gunplay, and you have the Nobody formula. Nobody 2 has the good sense not to overstay its welcome. It clips along at a brisk pace with a total runtime of just under ninety minutes. It breaks no new ground, but it doesn't need to. If you enjoyed your first action comedy romp with Hutch and his family, you'll have fun this time, too. As summer heads rapidly toward fall, kick back, soak in some A/C, eat some popcorn and be entertained by the simplicity of a well-executed action film. It's not exactly rocket science, but it doesn't need to be.

Halle Berry Trolls Ex-Husband David Justice's Comments About Not Being 'Motherly': 'Cooking, Cleaning and Mothering'
Justice recently said he yearned for a "traditional" marriage with Berry during a podcast interview NEED TO KNOW Halle Berry used Instagram to offer a response to her ex-husband David Justice's recent comments about their marriage as she marked her 59th birthday "Phew…! cooking, cleaning and mothering," Berry wrote in a caption to an Instagram post Justice, the former Major League Baseball player, and Berry were married from 1993 until 1997 Halle Berry is celebrating her 59th birthday — and offering a response of sorts to her ex-husband David Justice's recent comments that she "didn't really seem, like, motherly" during their marriage. Berry, who turns 59 on Thursday, Aug. 14, shared a carousel of photos of herself and her boyfriend Van Hunt on a tropical vacation, as well as a photos of a card that appeared to be from her two children and a snapshot of a birthday cake to celebrate the big day. "Phew…! cooking, cleaning and mothering," Berry wrote in a caption to her post. The caption seemingly referenced her ex Justice's recent comments made during an Aug. 7 appearance on former NBA star Matt Barnes' All the Smoke podcast, when the retired Major League Baseball player reflected on his four-year marriage to Berry in the 1990s. "My knowledge and my understanding, my wisdom around relationships just wasn't vast," he said during that podcast. "So, I'm looking at my mom — and I'm a Midwest guy. So, in my mind, I'm thinking a wife at that time should cook, clean, [be] traditional, you know?" "Then I'm thinking, 'OK, if we have kids, is this the woman I want to have kids with and build a family with?' At that time, as a young guy — she don't cook, don't clean, don't really seem like motherly, and then we start having issues," Justice, who has been married to his wife Rebecca since 2001, opined during the interview. The former athlete also said that he and Berry "probably could have made it if I knew about therapy" during their marriage. "We never had any major issues like that. It's just... because I was young and had only been in one real relationship before her," he said of the marriage's breakdown. Heather Locklear ‘Has a Long Memory' and Isn't Interested In Making Amends With Denise Richards
Denise Richards has been going through it recently. As her split from Aaron Phypers gets uglier — both have alleged abuse, which both deny — one person isn't feeling too sorry for the 54-year-old former Real Housewife. Back in 2007, Heather Locklear was shocked when Denise, newly split from Charlie Sheen, began dating her estranged husband, rocker Richie Sambora. (Denise denied breaking up their marriage). Now, an insider tells Star, Heather, 63, is spurning her old pal's attempts to make amends. 'Denise has been trying to get in touch, but she's not getting anywhere,' says the insider. (Denise's rep denies she has reached out.) 'Heather has a long memory. She's not trying to take pleasure in Denise's misery — but there is part of her that says this is a classic case of karma biting Denise in the butt.' Solve the daily Crossword
