Celtic stars 'lift the spirits' of ill kids in Glasgow Children's Hospital with Premiership trophy

Callum McGregor, James Forrest, Kasper Schmeichel, Arne Engels and Daizen Maeda visited the sick kids with the trophy.
Celtic stars have "lifted the spirits" of ill kids at Glasgow Children's Hospital with the special chance of seeing the newly crowned Champions with the Scottish Premiership trophy.
Today, Hoops heroes, captain Callum McGregor, James Forrest, Kasper Schmeichel, Arne Engels and Daizen Maeda returned to the hospital after promising the kids at Christmas time that they would be back.

However, this time they came back with Scottish Premiership trophy, giving so many deserving kids the opportunity to see it up close.

Callum McGregor told the Official Celtic FC website: 'Having such a close connection to the hospital, we know how difficult it is for the kids there.
"We know the really serious challenges faced by many of the kids and that so many of them are in the hospital long term too, so anything that we can do to lift their spirits in some way, then we are really happy to help.'
Kirsten Sinclair, Chief Executive of Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity, added: 'We are immensely grateful to Celtic Football Club for their continued support and for bringing the Scottish Premiership trophy to the Royal Hospital for Children today.
" Opportunities like this provide a much-needed boost for young patients and their families during what can be incredibly challenging times. The excitement of seeing the trophy and meeting the players created a truly memorable experience that will be cherished by all involved.'

In December, when the Parkhead side visited the Glasgow Children's Hospital before Christmas, we reported that a Celtic-mad Wishaw dad was left 'starstruck' after players visited his little baby who was fighting cancer.
The players visited the hospital to spread Christmas cheer to patients and their families and one family in particular were delighted to see the team.

Six-month-old Conan McCormick received a visit from Callum McGregor and others at Glasgow Children's Hospital and dad Jay, 29, said he was lost for words when the players knocked on the door.
The self-employed groundworker told the Record what it was like to meet the team and how their presence affected their family
He said: "I was playing with Conan when the door chapped. Before I could turn around, Callum McGregor walked into the room. The other guys followed. Callum started speaking with me and asking what was going on. It made me calmer and he was sending me all the best wishes.
"It was a very proud moment to see my team come in and give me a bit of a lift. They gave us a bit of joy. It was a bitter sweet moment. I was a bit lost for words and starstruck but managed to gain my composure."

Joe Aribo makes transfer decision as Russell Martin holds 'trust' card amid Rangers return clamour

The playmaker endured a tough campaign with Southampton and suffered another Premier League relegation Southampton playmaker Joe Aribo has reportedly told the club he wants to leave this summer. And Russell Martin 's arrival at Rangers has left fans dreaming of a return to the Scottish Premiership for the Nigerian international. ‌ Aribo is facing the prospect of playing Championship football next term after the Saints finished rock bottom of the Premier League - leading to his second relegation since leaving Ibrox behind in 2022. ‌ The 28-year-old has remained a fan favourite with the Light Blues' faithful having wrote his name in Rangers history by netting in the Europa League Final defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt. And it appears that a move away from St Mary's is on the cards after struggling for regular game time following Martin's sacking in the midst of a dismal English top flight campaign last term. Following the departure of the now-Gers' boss Martin, Aribo would manage just 10 appearances under Ivan Juric and Simon Rusk - barely making the matchday squad in the later stages of the campaign. The Daily Mail reported following the end of the campaign that the playmaker had made it clear to the club that he "wanted" an exit after dropping out of the top flight with just a year remaining on his contract. And Turkish outlet Fotomac now claim that the player has told his agent to find him a new club with Trabzonspor "asking" about the potential of a deal. ‌ And that could alert Martin as he looks to overhaul the squad this summer - who has made no secret of his admiration for Aribo. Speaking during their promotion-winning Championship campaign on midfielder, he said: "He's been a brilliant teammate, an amazing character as you know. He's humble, works hard, smiling. "I've not seen many players or teammates that are as popular as him, even when you're not playing, which is like the biggest credit to him, really." ‌ He has also noted how he fits his footballing philosophy perfectly, stating during his time with the Southampton: 'You trust him to go and put a certain level of performance on the pitch and to want the ball, to run for his teammates. "He's a brilliant teammate and I think he's someone that you trust.' A return would test Aribo's career mantra - having previously insisted he likes to take himself out of his "comfort zone". ‌ After his move away from Glasgow, he said: "I think for me, what's so important is the timing of everything. "I had some offers down south but I chose to go away from home, come out of my comfort zone - which is so important for your own growth personally. "So for me, life is about little steps to get to your goal and that's why I made the choice to go up there. And then why I came back to Southampton." A move back to Ibrox and a Russell Martin reunion could prove tempting - but could Aribo look to test himself elsewhere first? Former Hearts and Charlton ace Scott Fraser has revealed his frustration after an injury-ravaged campaign at Scottish Premiership side Dundee. The 30-year-old, who made 11 appearances on loan at Tynecastle last year before making the move to Dens Park, is currently set to depart Dundee with his contract up this month. While at Hearts under Steven Naismith, Fraser helped the Gorgie club finish third in the table. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad When on the pitch, Hearts only lost twice when he played - with both of those outings defeats to either side of the Old Firm, Rangers then Celtic in the split. In what his first start under then-boss Tony Docherty, Fraser picked up a groin issue and he has since been plagued by issues that have 'tested him both mentally and physically' over the past 12 months. He went on to make two showings off the bench but that came after six months out, and he has now went under the knife again - posting on social media platform X about his injury-hell. Ex-Hearts ace Fraser will 'come back stronger' He said: 'Over these past months, I've faced a lot disappointment, really for the first time in my career. Moments outwith my control that have tested me both mentally and physically. Instead of letting those challenges define me, I used them as fuel to grow and get better, both as a player and as a person away from the pitch. I stayed committed, kept working hard everyday, and focused only on what I could control. 'Through it all, it's certainly tested my character, staying positive and pushing forward when it wasn't easy and I'm proud of myself for that. Now, with that experience behind me, I feel more motivated than ever and ready to come back stronger, sharper, and better than before. I'm excited for the future. I absolutely love playing football and cannot wait to be back fully fit and able to do what I do.'

First pre-season friendly of Neil Lennon's new Dunfermline Athletic era announced

Dunfermline will play Fife neighbours Kelty Hearts in a pre-season friendly. The match is thought to have been mooted as part of the deal that took Michael Tidser from Kelty to East End Park back in January for his short-lived stint as manager. It is the first of this summer's friendlies involving the Pars to be announced. Neil Lennon is scheduled to take his side the short journey to New Central Park on Saturday, July 5, with a 3 pm kick-off. The teams met last season in the SPFL Trust Trophy, with Dunfermline winning 2-1 thanks to goals from Chris Kane and Matty Todd. The Fifers begin their Premier Sports Cup campaign a week later with a glamour trip to face Hearts at Tynecastle. That game, which will feature Derek McInnes' debut competitive match in charge of Hearts, has been chosen for live television. Dunfermline are also expected to also play friendlies on the weekend of June 28/29 as well as the following two midweeks as Lennon prepares his side for his first full season in charge. The former Celtic and Hibernian boss, who took over for the last seven games of last term, recently penned a new two-year deal to stay on at East End Park. Kelty are also under new management, with defender Tam O'Ware being handed the reins permanently after a short stint as caretaker following the departure of Charlie Mulgrew in April. The League One side will also face Kirkcaldy & Dysart on June 28, Broxburn Athletic on July 1 and Clyde on July 8 before kicking off their cup campaign with a trip to Brora Rangers on July 15.
