The 29-year-old been without a club since being released by Salford City in May 2024 but impressed for Simo Valakari's side during the 1-1 friendly draw with Dundee United on Tuesday night. Now it's a matter of seeing what Stevie thinks. He's a good footballer. I know he wanted to play as much as possible, he looked very good and did very well to play 90 minutes after one training session. Ex-Hibs midfielder Stevie Mallan is set to make a surprise return to Scotland. | SNS Group Scotland striker switches SWPL clubs Scotland Women striker Abi Harrison has completed a move to Glasgow City following the expiration of her contract with Celtic earlier this summer. The 19-cap striker returned to the SWPL last month following four-year stint at Bristol City, signing for Elena Sadiku's side last January, but was unable to nail down a regular starting XI spot and has opted to move across to city to sign for Leanne Ross' side. 'I'm delighted to be here,' said Harrison 'As soon as I spoke to Leanne Ross and Leanne Crichton, I knew it was the place I wanted to be. It is the best place that will get the best out of me and make me fall back in love with football, so I can't wait for the season to start.' Scotland striker Abi Harrison has signed for Glasgow City following her departure from Celtic. Rangers tipped to strengthen key position It would be 'no surprise' if Rangers boss Russell Martin aims to reunite with Southampton stopper Gavin Bazunu at Ibrox this summer, according to Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman. The Light Blues head coach has only Jack Butland and Liam Kelly to call on as his senior goalkeeper options currently, with Martin thought to be keen to add across many areas of the pitch ahead of the new Scottish Premiership season beginning in early August. The goalkeeper, who cost the St. Mary's club £12million when he joined from Manchester City in 2022, spent last season on loan to Standard Liège, but struggled for regular game time. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Bazunu did play a key role for Southampton during their 2023/24 promotion season though, and Goodman believes a move would make sense for both parties this summer. 'It wouldn't be the biggest surprise [if Bazunu reunites with Martin],' Goodman told talkSPORTBET. 'Russell puts real implicit faith in goalkeepers playing out from the back and he had massive faith in Gavin Bazunu. I remember him making several ricks actually at the start of their promotion season and Russell was very staunch in his defence and took responsibility because he wants his goalkeepers to play with their feet.' Gavin Bazunu has been tipped to make a summer switch to Rangers by a leading Sky Sports pundit. | Getty Images Celtic deal imminent J-League outfit Kawasaki Frontale have confirmed that reported Celtic transfer target Shin Yamada has left the club in order to 'complete the necessary procedures to enable him to transfer to a club overseas'. Sporting CP vs Celtic LIVE score and goal updates from pre season friendly in Portugal
The champions of Scotland and Portugal go head-to-head tonight as Celtic bring the curtain down on their pre-season tour in the Algarve. Brendan Rodgers' side have been grafting in the searing heat of Lisbon since Thursday, even taking time to visit the iconic Estadio Nacional - the site of the club's greatest ever triumph in 1967 - before heading south last night. Saturday's behind-closed-doors runout against Estrela da Amadora ended in a 3-2 defeat, but now Callum McGregor and Co. will step things up in front of a big crowd at the Estadio Algarve. New Bhoys Kieran Tierney, Benji Nygren and Hayato Inamura are set for more minutes as they continue to build match sharpness, while a number of academy prospects could also be handed another chance to impress. Meanwhile, Shin Yamada is poised to become Celtic's latest summer signing, with the Japanese striker saying his goodbyes to Kawasaki Frontale ahead of his move to Glasgow. Rodgers is likely to face fresh questions on transfer business after the game, having already made it clear that reinforcements are urgently needed before the Premiership curtain-raiser. Ryan McDonald Pre-season fixture schedule Celtic got their campaign off to a flyer last year with emphatic pre-season wins over Manchester City and Chelsea. There hasn't quite been the same pace and energy so far this summer, but at this stage, it's all about building fitness. The champions have four more games to go before next month's Premiership curtain-raiser at home to St Mirren. July 4 - Queen's Park 0-1 Celtic July 8 – Cork City 1-2 Celtic July 12 – Celtic 2-3 Estrela Da Amadora July 16 (KO: 7:30pm) – Sporting CP v Celtic July 19 (KO: 3pm) – Celtic v Newcastle United July 24 (KO: 7:30pm) – Celtic v Ajax July 26/27 (KO TBC) – Como or Al Ahli v Celtic Ryan McDonald Odds-on to return? Celtic have been alerted to the availability of former hero Odsonne Edouard. However, Brendan Rodgers would have to stump up serious cash to bring the Frenchman back to Parkhead. Edouard has been deemed surplus to requirements at Crystal Palace and has entered the final year of his contract. The Eagles are keen to offload the striker this summer and Edouard is now weighing up his options. It's believed the ex-PSG kid is picking up a weekly salary of £80,000 - and that's a huge hurdle for Celts. Ryan McDonald Need for speed Impatient Celtic fans have made their feelings clear on social media about the lack of transfer business in recent days. But the Hoops are edging closer to a £1.2million deal for Japan B international Shin Yamada. Kawasaki Frontale have confirmed the striker is set to join 'an overseas club,' with Yamada expected to team up with compatriots Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Hayato Inamura in Glasgow's east end. Will he be a direct replacement for Kyogo? That remains to be seen - but Brendan Rodgers will be grilled on the incoming signing after tonight's clash with Sporting Lisbon.

Future of forgotten Celtic star thrown into doubt as manager of former club reveals he ISN'T returning
CELTIC have welcomed five new arrivals to Parkhead this summer. And when Shin Yamada is officially announced that will take the number to six. 1 Marco Tilio after the A-League Men Grand Final between Melbourne City and Melbourne Victory Credit: Alamy But boss Brendan Rodgers knows that for every new signing, it's likely someone has to leave. Forgotten man Gustaf Lagerbielke and Maik Nawrocki left earlier this month while Greg Taylor quit the club as a free agent. Nicolas Kuhn has joined Serie A side Como in a big-money move but the departures won't stop there as Rodgers tries to trim his squad to keep things competitive amongst the group. Winger Yang Hyun-jun could be the first to follow them out the door and the likes of Luis Palma, Kwon Hyeok-kyu and Johnny Kenny might not be far behind. Read more Celtic stories LADIES MAN Celtic hero sponsors Scots women's football team as he puts his name on shorts But one who's future looks more up in the air than most is Marco Tilio. The Aussie was snapped up by the Hoops in a move that broke the A-League transfer record. He joined from Melbourne City in a deal worth £1.5million in 2023 but he hasn't been able to make his mark on the field. Last year he claimed Rodgers wanted him back at Celtic but he opted to stay with Melbourne, who had taken him back on loan in the in February 2024 and extended his stint the following summer. Tilio came back to Glasgow for pre-season training and has been involved with the Hoops squad out in Lisbon, playing in the defeat to Estrela de Amadora at the weekend. He was nevertheless tipped to make a swift return to Melbourne but that possibility has been thrown into doubt by City boss Aurelio Vidmar. Incoming Celtic signing Shin Yamada wipes away tears as he bids emotional farewell to Kawasaki Frontale in Japan Despite him having made only TWO appearances for the Hoops, Vidmar has suggested that Tilio is unlikely to come back to his homeland for a third time and instead wants to continue his career in Europe. But with Rodgers unlikely to find a place for him in his Celtic team and no rumours of interest from other clubs, he seems to now be somewhat in limbo. Vidmar said: 'It's clear with Marco that he's been pretty keen to go back to Europe. 'He was involved in a friendly game last weekend, so it's highly likely we won't have the return of Marco, but we just don't know where that's going to end. 'He's part of Celtic's property. We don't own the player, so we'll see where that goes. 'There'll be ongoing discussions until we actually know what's happening before we make the next move.'
