Damp weather on Easter in Seattle with a drier workweek

SEATTLE - We're tracking isolated to scattered showers for Easter Sunday in Seattle. Drier, warmer and sunnier weather returns during the upcoming workweek. Highs this afternoon will reach the mid 50s for most under mostly cloudy skies. There might be a couple of sunbreaks for some, but most between Tacoma and Bellingham will be primarily cloudy. There will be on-and-off showers. In hyper-localized cases, there might be heavy rain. This is particularly possible where a convergence zone develops tonight to Monday morning. I can't rule out a spotty lightning strike today, but there isn't a lot of instability in the atmosphere. It could be slightly breezy this afternoon. Between the clouds, showers and breezes, I'd recommend keeping a waterproof layer with you today. Under a convergence zone late tonight to early Monday, there could be snow falling over the Cascades down to 2,500 feet in elevation! There might be a few inches of snow by daybreak over Stevens and Snoqualmie Passes. If you're traveling over the passes overnight, make sure you and your car are prepared for the winter weather. Drier, warmer and sunnier weather is in store between Tuesday and Thursday. Enjoy! Hope you have a wonderful rest of your weekend. Seattle weather: Damp conditions for Easter Sunday

SEATTLE - After enjoying plentiful sunshine and highs in the 70s for many backyards on Friday, we're forecasting cooler and cloudier weather for Easter Sunday with occasional showers. Highs this afternoon will land on either side of 60 degrees around Puget Sound. Many communities in the North and Sound will enjoy abundant sunshine - along with most places on the Olympic Peninsula and the coast. It could be a different story for the Hood Canal, Kitsap Peninsula and the Central Sound neighborhoods (e.g. Everett, Seattle and possibly Tacoma): that's where partly to mostly cloudy skies are expected due to a weak convergence zone. Later, this same zone could spark light showers - particularly this afternoon and tonight. However, most areas in western Washington will wind up dry today. Wetter weather is on the way for Easter Sunday. It's not quite the egg-citing forecast some of you peeps might've hoped for ;) Highs will reach the mid 50s under mostly cloudy skies. Periodic showers are likely. I'd recommend incorporating a waterproof layer into your outfit tomorrow! Sunday night into Monday morning, there might be light snow at Stevens and Snoqualmie Passes due to another convergence zone. If you're traveling during this time, be ready for slick spots and minor snow accumulation. Drier weather takes over Monday evening. We'll enjoy three consecutive days of dry, sunny weather from Tuesday to Thursday. Showers are once more a possibility on Friday. St. Pete Beach Post Office remains closed months after hurricanes

The Brief The St. Pete Beach Post Office remains closed months after Hurricanes Helene and Milton. USPS says all operations have been moved from the St. Pete Beach Post Office to the Gulfwinds Post Office on 22nd Avenue South. Residents say they are frustrated because sending and receiving mail has become more difficult. ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. - Six months after the storms, residents in St. Pete Beach are still without a post office, and it still remains unknown when it will reopen. Crews are currently fixing the damage left by Hurricanes Helene and Milton at the Corey Avenue location. Plumbers were there Monday, and painters were there this past weekend. What they're saying A sign on the door says, "Please do not enter," telling customers it's closed because of the hurricanes. RELATED: Congresswoman Kathy Castor wants answers on why 7 post offices remain closed months after storms "This is the one we go to for everything," said Jeanie Macpherson, a St. Pete snowbird. "I'm just hoping it'll open back up; we don't like going to the one on 66th. There's not much parking, and it's just so crowded. It's forcing us to go to UPS all the time. We have to pay more to mail letters there, but that's what we're doing." Macpherson said other snowbirds and residents also miss the convenience of the Corey Avenue location. "If you want to go in and get some envelopes, or just get some stamps, or just go mail something, or mail your taxes out, it's more handy. Or I can just walk down; I don't have to drive to it," Macpherson said. "Everything is going too slow, way too slow. Getting permits, getting people to do it; it has just been a sad situation," Macpherson said. The other side According to the Pinellas County Property Appraiser records, the post office was issued a permit at the end of December. READ: New Howard Frankland Bridge will open to traffic in time for Tuesday commute. Here's what to know A United States Postal Service spokesperson said they've moved all operations for the St. Pete Beach Post Office to the Gulfwinds location on 22nd Avenue South in St. Petersburg. A spokesperson wouldn't say the extent of the damage but did send a statement: "The safety and well-being of postal customers and employees is a priority for the Postal Service. The St. Pete Beach Post Office is a leased facility, and we are continuing to work with the landlord to quickly resolve all facility-related issues and resume service as soon as possible. A final timeline for completion of work is not available at this time, but this remains an area of intense focus for local postal leaders. The Postal Service will continue to provide updates as soon as additional information becomes available. We thank our valued customers for their continued patience." People can still mail letters from the blue boxes nearby. Staff pick those up daily, USPS said. The Source FOX 13's Kailey Tracy collected the information in this story.
