Police co-op declares over RM36mil in dividend
KUALA LUMPUR: Koperasi Polis Diraja Malaysia Berhad (KPDRM) announced a dividend distribution of 5.8 per cent for 2024 on subscription capital and 9.2 per cent on share capital to members, with a total distribution of RM36.14mil.
KPDRM president and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain ( pic ) said the distribution showed an increase of 0.3 per cent for subscription capital and 2.2 per cent on share capital compared to the previous year.
"In the cooperative's 97 years of existence, this is the first time such an impressive dividend has been distributed to KPDRM members," he said when speaking in conjunction with KPDRM's 90th Annual General Meeting here Friday (June 13).
Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Human Resources Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud.
Commenting further, Razarudin said KPDRM recorded a profit of RM50.14mil for the year 2024, compared to RM45.02mil in 2023.
"This is influenced by the increase in the number of KPDRM members from 114,608 in 2023, to 119,922 in 2024, involving an increase of 5,314 people.
"In this regard, the subscription capital also increased to RM586.6mil in 2024 compared to RM558mil in 2023, an increase of 4.9 per cent equivalent to RM28.6mil,' he said.
In addition, Razarudin said the share capital also increased to 11 per cent equivalent to RM2.9 million from RM20.5mil in 2023 to RM23.04mil in 2024.
At the ceremony, the Prime Minister also presented insurance compensation to nine relatives of Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) members who died in a road accident in Teluk Intan, Perak, in May. - Bernama

SEREMBAN, June 15 — A sales manager of a factory in Nilai near here lost RM389,000 to an online investment scam on Facebook recently. Nilai district police chief Supt Abdul Malik Hasim said the man, in his late 40s, claimed to have dealt with an individual offering the investment scheme on April 19 before he was asked to download an app on his mobile phone. 'He then transferred money to six accounts provided by the individual through nine transactions totalling RM389,000 for investment, but realised he had been deceived when he couldn't access the app anymore and could not withdraw his profits,' he said in a statement tonight, adding that the victim then lodged a police report at 2.50 pm yesterday. Wan Lizozman vows new chapter for SBA

KUCHING (June 13): Dato Sri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar has been elected as the president of the Sarawak Badminton Association (SBA) yesterday. He won the post unopposed during the state badminton ruling body's Annual General Meeting (AGM) here. In his inaugural address, Wan Lizozman expressed heartfelt gratitude to all affiliated associations for their trust and confidence, pledging to lead SBA with humility, transparency and strategic focus. Being elected unopposed, he described the honour as a profound responsibility and called for continued unity among affiliates to drive SBA forward. Also elected unopposed was Ting Wei Ping as deputy president. In the spirit of continuity and inclusiveness, the new president reaffirmed that all affiliates presidents will automatically serve as SBA vice presidents, ensuring broad representation from across Sarawak. Wan Lizozman also conveyed his sincere appreciation to former president Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain for his dedicated leadership and contributions to SBA over the years. He acknowledged Abdul Aziz's role in laying the strong foundation on which SBA now stands. Wan Lizozman also announced the appointments of Datuk Dr Wan Khalik Wan Muhammad as the secretary and Jonathan Kho as the treasurer. Both bring significant experience and will play central roles in implementing SBA's renewed strategic direction. Notably, Wan Khalik's appointment also ensures Sarawak's direct representation at the national level as he will automatically serve as a member of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) High Council. This is a significant step forward for SBA in strengthening its voice and involvement in shaping national badminton policies. Acknowledging the recent challenges faced by SBA including the temporary suspension of the association, Wan Lizozman emphasised the urgent need to rebuild and restore public confidence. 'It's time to restore SBA's image and strengthen trust among all stakeholders – from grassroots athletes and coaches to state leadership and corporate partners. 'We will uphold transparency, professionalism and progress moving forward,' he said. Looking ahead, the president outlined his intention to form key working committees covering development, technical and tournaments, commercial and other relevant areas to support SBA's strategic priorities. These committees will be formalised at the upcoming council meeting. On Sukma Selangor 2026, Wan Lizozman also shared his commitment to ensuring that Sarawak's badminton team is well-prepared and competitive. He emphasised the importance of structured development, athlete support and high-performance training to build on the momentum achieved in previous games. Wan Lizozman proudly highlighted that for the first time in history, Sarawak clinched its first-ever Sukma gold medal in badminton during the Sukma 2024 edition, through the outstanding performance of its women's singles player. This historic win serves as a powerful motivation for SBA to elevate the state's performance further at the national level. In his closing remarks, Wan Lizozman emphasised the shared mission to elevate Sarawak badminton — from grassroots development and coaching excellence to producing national-level athletes who can shine on the international stage. PM Anwar: Govt mulls awarding projects to Koperasi PDRM to boost members returns
THE government is reviewing the best approach to assist Koperasi Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) Berhad through the awarding of suitable projects, rather than the channelling of additional funds, to help increase returns for members, said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The Prime Minister said the move would ensure that projects are implemented more quickly and efficiently, while benefiting nearly 100,000 members. 'When a project is approved and awarded by the government, the benefits reach 100,000 people. It makes more sense than providing a direct financial grant. '… it's better to channel support through projects — better execution, reasonable costs, faster completion and greater efficiency,' he said when opening the 90th Annual Delegates' General Meeting of Koperasi PDRM Berhad here today. At the same time, Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, called on the cooperative's management to submit a performance report to him and Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to identify potential areas for collaboration. 'I will look into how we can cooperate with the Ministry of Finance, and I will instruct the Second Finance Minister and the Treasury secretary-general to explore other avenues we can pursue to ensure that the profits gained by Koperasi PDRM benefit its members,' he said. 'I don't think we should write off the entire debt, but given the current good performance of the police force and sound management, I believe a reasonable reduction is appropriate,' he said. Earlier, in his speech, Razarudin had appealed to the government to consider reducing the rent and writing off the 2024 debt for the Kolej UNIKOP premises owed to Cyberview Sdn Bhd. Razarudin said approval of the request would further support efforts to upgrade the college into a premier police and security university in the Southeast Asian region. The Prime Minister said Koperasi PDRM Berhad, which represents hundreds of thousands of members, has recently recorded a strong performance, allowing it to provide better returns to its members. 'When the management is good and the governance is sound, the outcomes for its members will naturally improve. This performance has placed Koperasi PDRM among the top cooperatives in the country,' he said. Anwar also stressed that in efforts to safeguard the welfare of the people, particularly members of the police force, input from the Home Minister, the Inspector-General of Police and the Home Ministry secretary-general is essential. 'We can no longer rely on outdated methods and conditions. The country has recorded impressive achievements, a five per cent growth rate, and, as I announced yesterday, a 3.1 per cent increase in investments in the first quarter of this year, despite the global economic slowdown. 'But the ultimate measure is the people's comfort — their homes, hospitals, schools and cost of living. These are the issues the MADANI Government is addressing,' he said. — BERNAMA
