The Blaze Team from Beijing Information Science and Technology University impressed with the robots' agile evasion maneuvers. Tsinghua University's Power Intelligent Team demonstrated seamless communication protocols that enabled precise passes. The Mountain-Sea Team from China Agricultural University stood out for its energy-efficient design, maintaining peak performance throughout the intense matches.The robotic football event builds on the momentum of April's historic half-marathon, in which 20 humanoid robot teams completed a 21.0975-kilometer course in Beijing's Daxing District. The Sky Project Ultra robot, also known as Tiangong Ultra, crossed the finish line to win the Humanoid Robot Half-Marathon.
China's humanoid robot sector has evolved rapidly from theoretical research to industrial implementation. Robots are now widely used in various Chinese industries, with robots evolving from task-specific machines to general-purpose assistants tailored for diverse environments, from construction sites to elderly care. Collaborative robots (cobots) are also widely used in automotive plants, working alongside human personnel.

The first World Humanoid Robot Games began on Friday in Beijing with over 500 androids alternating between jerky tumbles and glimpses of real power as they compete in events from the 100-metre hurdles to kung fu. Hundreds of robotics teams from 16 countries are going for gold at the Chinese capital's National Speed Skating Oval, built for the 2022 Winter Olympics. "I believe in the next 10 years or so robots will be basically at the same level as humans," enthusiastic 18-year-old spectator Chen Ruiyuan said. At one of the first events on Friday, five-a-side football, 10 robots the size of seven-year-olds shuffled around the pitch, often getting stuck in a scrum or falling over en masse. World Humanoid Robot Games opens in Beijing
The 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games kicked off on Thursday in Beijing, showcasing the cutting-edge achievements of humanoid robots in intelligent decision-making and collaborative movement. Planned and designed by China Media Group (CMG) with an innovative and integrated approach, the "Robot Show" made a stunning debut at the opening ceremony. 'This Humanoid Robot Games can be described as a grand event for the global robotics community. It features the largest number of participating robots, the most comprehensive range of events, and the broadest level of participation ever,' said Jiang Guangzhi, Director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology.
