Gold price per tola drops Rs1,500 in Pakistan
As per the rates shared by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), 10-gram gold was sold at Rs306,927 after it lost Rs1,286.
On Monday, gold price per tola reached Rs359,500 after a gain of Rs500 during the day.
The international rate of gold decreased today. As per APGJSA, the rate was at $3,353 per ounce (with a premium of $20), a loss of $15.
Meanwhile, the silver price per tola gained Rs18 during the day to reach Rs3,971.

Restored MNAs yet to receive pending salaries
Eighteen members of the National Assembly (MNAs), recently reinstated to reserved seats, are now awaiting the release of their salaries accumulated during their year-long suspension. The National Assembly Secretariat is facing uncertainty over whether the reinstated lawmakers are entitled to receive salaries for the period they were de-notified. The secretariat has sought advice from the Finance Department on the matter, and a final decision is expected during the ongoing NA session following approval from the speaker. As of January 2025, the monthly salary for an MNA stands at Rs730,000. If the pending payments are approved, each of the 18 MNAs is expected to receive around Rs7.1 million in arrears. The total disbursement required for all 18 lawmakers amounts to approximately Rs127.8 million. It is worth noting that these members were de-notified on May 13, 2024, following a Supreme Court ruling. However, the apex court reversed its decision on July 2, 2025, and reinstated all 18 lawmakers. Among those restored are 15 women and three minority representatives.

PAC orders probe against town chairman
The Sindh Assembly's Public Accounts Committee has referred a corruption reference against Mustafa Bilal, Chairman Town Municipal Corporation (TMC) Mian Sarfaraz in Hyderabad, to Sindh Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE). PAC Chairman Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, who conducted a hearing of the TMC in Karachi on Tuesday, also directed Sindh Secretary Local Government to initiate an inquiry over allegations that Bilal violated the law by single-handedly passing the budget for fiscal 2024-25. Embezzlement of the public funds, illegal expenditures and other irregularities are among the allegations which have been levelled against the TCM's chairman who has been accused for singularly approving the TMC's budget of over Rs1 billion. He is also being blamed for continuously withdrawing funds from the Octroi Zilla Tax head without obtaining signatures of the town municipal commissioner. TMC Miaz Sarfaraz is one of the nine TMC which work under the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC). The vice chairman accused the corporation's chairman for corruption, misappropriation of funds and for passing the budget without calling the due meeting of the corporation's council. The vice chairman of Union Committee (UC) 24 blamed Bilal for holding meetings of the council occasionally to fulfill the formalities without engaging the council in constructive works. "He sends extortion receipts of Rs400 to all shopkeepers," he alleged. The vice chairmen of UC 20 and UC 21 charged the chairman for completely failing to undertake development works. Many of the vice chairman during the hearing demanded a forensic audit of the TMC's revenues and expenditures. Khuhro inquired Bilal to share details about monthly income and expenditures of the corporation. The PAC's chairman was briefed that the TMC received Rs18 million monthly from the OZT share and that Rs13 million of that fund is spent on the salaries.

50,000 loans given under Punjab's 'Apni Chat Apna Ghar' project
Listen to article Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that under the 'Apni Chat Apna Ghar' housing scheme, 50,000 citizens have been provided with interest-free loans in just six months. The scheme aims to provide affordable housing to citizens across the province. Addressing the ceremony at the Expo Centre in Lahore, Maryam highlighted the successful disbursement of loans to low-income families, Radio Pakistan reported on Wednesday. "The promise of 'Apni Chat Apna Ghar' has been fulfilled, and 50,000 citizens have now received the financial support they need to build their homes," she said. One recipient from Rawalpindi emotionally recounted how his dream of owning a house was finally realised, thanking both Nawaz Sharif and Maryam for making it possible. The scheme provides loans for homes ranging from five to ten marlas, with more than Rs74 billion in interest-free loans already disbursed. CM Maryam further stated that around 45,000 houses are currently being built under the scheme, and 9,000 homes have already been completed. "This initiative is about providing people with the means to build a better future for themselves and their families," she concluded.
