Teachers' Day Awards boost national education quality
KUCHING: The 54th National Teachers' Day Awards go beyond mere recognition, serving as a meaningful step towards advancing the quality of education in the country.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said that any major shift in education begins at the most fundamental unit, namely the classroom, where teachers and students interact daily and shape the true direction of learning.
'When we speak of school reform, there is no place more appropriate or impactful for a child's education than their own classroom.
'Thank you to all teachers for your continued commitment to educating with sincerity. May this effort serve as a strong foundation for enhancing the quality of national education,' she said in her speech at the awards ceremony here today.
Fadhlina said the event was not merely symbolic but also served to recognise outstanding teachers who have implemented impactful innovations in teaching and learning.
'I reviewed each nomination thoroughly. There were even some awards I personally requested to be added because I felt these teachers truly deserve our appreciation.
'May these awards inspire other colleagues, and we will continue to strengthen this initiative,' she added.
At the ceremony, recipients of the Anugerah Khas Pendidikan, Anugerah Guru Inovatif, Anugerah Guru Ikon, Anugerah Guru Berwibawa, Anugerah Khas Bitara Bahasa and Anugerah Khas Menteri Pendidikan each received a certificate, a plaque of appreciation, and cash prizes of RM3,000, RM1,000, and RM500, depending on the category.

Bukit Lanjan assemblyman Pua Pei Ling will lead the strategy bureau while former Machap Jaya assemblyman Ginie Lim will lead the international bureau. In a statement, Fadhlina said: 'I am confident they will be able to carry out their responsibilities with integrity and will be progressive and inclusive in pushing the party's agenda.'

KUALA LUMPUR: The chartered bus tragedy that claimed the lives of 15 Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students has elicited an outpouring of grief on social media from Cabinet members and people from all walks of life. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek extended her condolences to the families of the victims and prayed that they be granted strength and resilience in facing this devastating tragedy. 'Let us all pray that the souls of those who perished are forgiven, granted honour, and placed among His righteous and faithful servants,' she said in a Facebook post. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar described the deaths of the victims as not only a loss to their families but also to the entire ummah. 'I was devastated to learn that victims were students returning to UPSI after the Aidiladha break. They were the fi sabilillah, seekers of knowledge for the sake of Allah,' he said. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang, and Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu also extended their condolences on their respective official social media accounts. Meanwhile, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Deputy Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan expressed hope that the injured and surviving victims would have a speedy recovery.
