Police identify man struck and killed by out-of-control vehicle in NYC

OZONE PARK, Queens (PIX11) — Police have identified a man who was killed after he and two others were struck by a vehicle in Queens on Friday.
Authorities say Zhihong Shi, 31, was pronounced dead at the hospital after he was hit at the intersection of 87 Street and Atlantic Avenue around 10:30 a.m. Shi was with two other men, ages 67 and 48, who were all unloading tools from a double-parked vehicle, police tell PIX11 News.

According to officials, a 35-year-old driving a Ford Econoline van was heading down 87 Street when he suffered a medical emergency and lost control of his vehicle.
The van slammed into two other vehicles after hitting Shi and the two men with him, authorities say.

The 67-year-old man with Shi was left in critical condition, while the 48-year-old man is said to be in stable condition, according to police.
The driver of the Ford was also taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Police are continuing to investigate the situation, but so far, there are no arrests.

Police said officers responded to a disturbance call at a Park Avenue home around noon. Azzm Khan, 26, was found inside along with a dead cat, according to authorities. More Local News Police said the cat had been cruelly tortured and killed. Khan was arrested and taken to a local hospital, according to authorities. Police said he was charged with aggravated cruelty to animals and torturing animals/failure to provide sustenance. Khan is expected to appear in court on July 3. Officers conducting the wellness check found the 26-year-old woman with a neck injury inside the house at 1886 New York Ave. in Midwood just before 8:50 p.m., according to the NYPD.
