Woman dies after work accident at Montreal school
Police say a 31-year-old woman has died after falling from a ladder in a schoolyard in Montreal's Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie borough.
Montreal police say the woman had been working on the roof of a school on Rosemont Boulevard, near Châtelain Street, on Tuesday morning when she fell.
Police spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils said someone called 911 at 6:40 a.m. to report the accident.
She said by the time first responders arrived, the woman was unconscious.
Chèvrefils said the woman was rushed to hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
She said worker safety investigators were also on scene and have opened an investigation.

Winnipeg man, 26, dead in North End homicide
The death of a 26-year-old man found suffering from severe injuries in Winnipeg's North End this week is being investigated as a homicide. Breydon Henry Cadieux-Kwiatkowski was found unresponsive in the area of Boyd Avenue, between Parr and McGregor Streets, on Wednesday at about 7 p.m., according to a Winnipeg police news release on Friday. He was suffering "severe trauma" when emergency crews arrived and provided care before transporting him to hospital in critical condition. He has since died of his injuries. 2nd man charged in shooting death of international student Harsimrat Randhawa: Hamilton police
A second person has been arrested and charged in the shooting death of 21-year-old international student Harsimrat Randhawa, an innocent bystander, Hamilton police say. Obiesea Okafor, 26, was located in North York on Thursday, police said in a news release Friday morning. Okafor was transported back to Hamilton and has now been charged with three counts of attempted murder, reads the release. Randhawa, from India, died in hospital of a gunshot wound after she was hit by a stray bullet while standing near a bus stop at the intersection of Upper James Street and South Bend Road on April 17. She'd just gotten off the bus and was waiting to cross the street when she was struck. At a news conference Thursday, police said Jerdaine Foster, 32, was arrested in Niagara Falls, Ont., on Tuesday. He was charged with three counts of attempted murder. Foster has ties to Hamilton, Halton and Niagara regions, living in short-term rental properties, police said. At least seven people in four cars were involved in a dispute that led up to the shooting, police said at the news conference. "This investigation is ongoing, and detectives continue to relentlessly pursue all leads to identify and arrest those involved in this murder," police said in the release. Police say anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers.
